"We were in Hawaii for 4 weeks now and changed our accomondations five times. Dolphin Hideaway was the absolutely best one! We enjoyed everything. The privacy, the secludedness, the room, the decorations/ arrangement of the furniture, the cleanliness, the equipment, the lanai etc.. We truely felt home there. We even enjoyed the frog sound at night that Laura doesn't like that much ;) It felt very relaxing to us!
The only thing missing is a cooking plate (One person has written that before) so that could better cook your meals, since you are that secluded you usually don't go out for dining. This would be an absolutely plus (maybe you could think about adding that), but anyway we would definetely come back when visiting Big Island.
And by the way, those of you who are concerned that this place is too far out, I could only say... This is big Island.. You have to drive a lot anyway so it doesn't make such a difference. We were thinking about staying directly in Hilo when planning the trip but we are soooooo happy we didn't. And it is in between Mauna Kea and Volcano National park and since I bet you want to visit these places it's perfectly in between...
After loooooooong and strenous hikes, we were sooooo excited to drive back to this wonderful pace to find some rest.
There even were a whole bunch of DvD's for a nice calm down evening.
2 thumbs up!!!"

Beautiful Rain Forest Vacation Home for our big family!
"We had a nice time at the Naupaka Guest House secluded in the Rain Forests of Hilo. Surrounded, by beautiful nature and the wonderful sounds of birds and frogs, we loved it. There was plenty room for our two families with 9 kids total and my dad. We each had privacy but gathered together in the mornings before we headed out and in the evenings before sleeping. They have everything for you, even if you forgot soap and shampoo. They had a cooler (life saver) and beach chairs and noodles and boogie boards and umbrellas. Each room was cutely decorated and we slept comfortably. They have a washing machine and dryer which is so necessary for our bunch of kids. And the kitchen had all we needed for cooking. To top it of Gina was super communicative, so we felt taken care of from our first inquiry about the property. She and Mike greeted us when we arrived and they were so kind. There's plenty to do with this spot as your central location. They have guide books in the house that helped us plan our adventures. We also had the added bonus of having family live near by in paradise park and so it was extra fun for us. If you want to be in the center of city night life and have room service and someone to make your bed everyday...this isn't the place for you. But if you want a clean, comfortable place to make your own meals and enjoy the beauty of hawaii's nature in a secluded, quiet (except the sounds of nature) this is the place to be. Thanks Gina and Mike for helping to make our Big Island stay a wonderful vacation."

"The unique layout of this home, wrapped around a center Japanese garden, made our stay memorable. Sliding panels open the rooms to garden views and breezes. The two large bedrooms and four sitting areas sometimes made it challenging to find one another! The landscaped lava field across the street is beautiful, demonstrating the love and care also shown in the prints and art objects which decorate every room. We enjoyed the bicycles and the children loved the pool and the moas. You won't forget this special house. photos don't do it justice."

"This was a perfect place to stay in Big Island. Close to the volcano and mountain area still with easy access to wonderful beach areas.
You could feel like home and was a very nice way to relax in the middle of Paradise!
Totally recommended, the house had everything you needed and all was very easy with the owner as well as very well organized!
Fantastic holidays experience and totally recommended!"
