  • Best location on the big island

"Not only is the house beautifully designed, tastefully decorated with many lovely African and glass art pieces, and gorgeously landscaped (the photos don't do this part justice), but it is literally across the street from and excellent view of the coastline and setting sun, and just a 5 minute walk to a very pretty black sand swimming beach. And if that isn't enough, it's only 5 miles to the end of the road for (potential) nightly lava viewing, 15 minutes to Pohala with plenty of restaurants and a great small supermarket with an excellent poke counter, a few minutes further than that to the best farmers market (Sun) on the island (6 papayas for $1!), and only 40 minutes to the "big" city of Hilo with lots of great restaurants and shops. And if that's not enough, there are a number of other unusual swimming options within 15-20 minutes including natural and man made ocean side pools which are heated volcanically to varying degrees, and tide pools with some of the most amazing snorkeling (like 9 colors of coral) I've ever seen. And all this costs far less than you'd pay for a cramped, mediocre hotel room. The only question that remains for us is when are we coming back."

  • Spacious house in great location!!

"We stayed here for almost a week at the beginning of April. We dealt with Juan who was very friendly, helpful, informative, honest & willing to answer any questions. He was hospitable & genuinely all about making our stay the best ever. PROS: -the house was clean, big & spacious (there was only 2 of us so we had more than enough room). The inside was not cluttered with too much furniture, decorations & other stuff but instead nicely furnished & organized. -the kitchen had everything we needed for cooking, the couch was super comfy (so was the bed), the comforters were soft (it was nice to have those instead of just sheets to cover ourselves with as some nights can get cooler), the master bath was huge, water pressure good, plenty of hot water, the second 1/2 bath upstairs was great to have, plenty of closet & dresser space for our things, lot's of different lighting & switches to play with, many beach accessories to make use of (the beach chairs were super). -good internet connection. -less than a minute to the black sand beach & very close to other places of interest. -located in a nice, quiet area (even though the house is right by the road the traffic is very minimal). -not much vegetation around the house (good because the bugs stay away & there's plenty of light during the day, bad because there is less privacy). CONS: -no lamps on the night stands (made it difficult to read in bed without disturbing my better half since the main light had to be on). -poor lighting in the master bath (lights above the mirrors have not been installed, just the ceiling light). -no black out drapes on the lanai doors (for those persons that need dark to sleep…… no sleeping in I guess!!). -no screens on both lanai doors (did not pose a problem for us during the day but once it got dark and the bug activity increased we had to keep them closed. But since the nights were still a bit cool it did not bother us too much because we were able to get a nice breeze going from all of the other windows). Also, there is one huge window by the stairs that would make a big difference, but for some reason it does not have a screen so we didn't open it. -no cable tv (for those rainy days or relaxing nights). Also, very limited stock of movies (we rented from town a few times). -no phone reception. -no A/C (rarely ever need it anyway), but only 1 fan upstairs from what I recall. This house is perfect for a larger group or family. Worth checking out."

  • Beautiful House, Excellent Location, Great Service

"We did a short, two day trip from Oahu, to the Big Island. We chose the Treehouse because of the location and the house, and they both exceeded expectations. From the moment we contacted the owners they were extremely responsive in helping us secure the place and answer questions. The house itself is peaceful and inviting. It gives you a sense of living in a forest but with all the customary amenities and more. The location is great because it is right in the heart of Puna and you really experience the lava-- something I could never really get my head around until seeing it. The are many other excellent things to do close by like the beach, the volcano, and the tide pools."

  • Wonderful stay

"We had a wonderful stay in this large and quiet house. Chad and Sue (the owners) are very kind, helpful but also very discrete. They welcomed us with a pineapple of their own production. The house was very clean and nothing was missing. Be sure that we will recommend this condo to all our friends and that we will rent it again if we came back in Big Island again."
