  • Jennifer & Jill (came for work, extended stay for vacation)

"Aloha, The cottage was a perfect place for us to stay. We were fortunate to have business is Hawaii , after three days of work in Hilo we stayed to play and discover the island. After long days of exploring we were always very happy to come home to a comfortable place. We loved the porch as we sat in the mornings to drink coffee & listen to the radio. the outdoor shower was a wonderful bonus and we used it daily. the energy in the Puna district was fabulous. the locals were helpful and happy. we enjoyed short trips to many area scenic attractions. The thermal ponds, Isaac Hale Beach Park. Friday - Sunday the burrito guy is there, a must have is a fresh fish burrito with all fresh ingredients. or just driving around and "getting lost" A scenic drive on 19 around the island was wonderful, with many stops along the way to see waterfalls (Akaka, Rainbow & Onomea Bay) & many other scenic outlooks. Puna Lu hu sweet bread bakery, Wai' pio Valley lookout and Kahalu'u beach where we saw whales jumping and sea turtles sunbathing. We enjoyed Mauna Kea & Volcano National Park at sunset, it was an amazing view. All in all you cant help but LIVE ALOHA while staying in the Puna district. Mahalo, Jennifer & Jill from Minnesota."

  • The Perfect Sanctuary to Heal the Soul

"I love that the location is so close to Pahoa. It makes it easier to flow without a car. And, just a few miles from the beach makes it really convenient too! I thoroughly enjoyed access to the chemical-free Jacuzzi and infrared sauna built in such a beautiful setting and so close to my room without the disturbance of any noise. My room was quiet and serene, yet adjacent to the kitchen and other facilities. The Hawaiian Sanctuary kitchen is my favorite outdoor kitche :). It is clean, beautiful, inviting, and stocked with great appliances. The area was well thought out, including dishwashing for guests and residents outside the common area making it easier to keep the area clean. From my arrival into the aromtherapy-filled room and beautiful tropical flowers to the delicious healthy meals, healing classes, fun and educational events, and entertainment, the Hawaiian Sanctuary is indeed just need not even leave the property :) I felt like a brand new person as I left this gem in the jungle - healed, renewed and revitalized. Thank you HS!"

Pahoa Travel Tips

Discover Hawaii's Volcano With Pahoa Vacation Rentals

Located in the Puna District near Kilauea Volcano, Pahoa vacation rentals are less than an hour from Volcano National Park. A trip to this area offers spectacular views of the world's most active volcano. Watch ash plumes fill the sky and eruptions flow from the volcano's tubes. Tours explore lava tubes, craters, and steam vents. Locals celebrate the volcano as the fine work of the goddess Pele. At night from the dining room of your rental home in Pahoa you can watch the red glow of lava as it makes its way down to the ocean.

Explore Nature From Pahoa Vacation Houses

Pahoa vacation houses are a good starting point for enjoying the Big Island. From Mid-November to April, humpback whales make the waters surrounding Hawaii, their home. Private lanais with views of the Pacific Ocean provide a relaxing place to watch dolphins and sea turtles as they swim and play. Mango trees line roads from Kapoho to Kalapana, and you'll find a hot spring lagoon open to the public near Pohoiki Bay. While many people think of Hawaii's white and golden sand beaches, the Puna District is home to the state's black beaches. Formed from black lava stone, Beach Naupaka and Kehena Black Sand Beach create a striking background to the white waves of the ocean.

Enjoy the Water Near Puna District Beach Rentals

In the Puna District, beach rentals line the shore, putting you close to water activities like kayaking and swimming. At nearby Kapoho, you can snorkel in marine-sanctuary tide pools. Ahalnue Beach Park offers a geothermal-heated tide pool warmed to over 90 degrees. Relax and let the water massage your body, known as Watzu. If you prefer an actual massage, schedule a Lomi Lomi massage to help your relax.
