"This is a wonderful home and is in a great location to explore the Hilo side of the Big Island. The house is beautifully decorated with Hawaiian and Polynesian art and the craftsmanship in the home is outstanding. The view from the bedrooms is spectacular and the sea breeze is delightful. The location allows easy access to the tide pools and Champagne pond. The former is like snorkeling in aquarium with beautiful fish and coral. Having bikes at the house was great. Make sure you go to the top deck and view the stars at night, you can actually see the milky way, satellites, and multiple shooting stars on a clear night. The neighbors were so nice and helped us to navigate the neighborhood and told us about the local farmers market which is a must see if you enjoy art and fresh produce. Overall if you are thinking about staying on the Hilo side of the Big Island and want to experience true Hawaiian living this is the place."

"Four of us stayed at Volcano Cottage for three nights. Wish we could have stayed longer. The house provided a wonderful place to stay during our visit to the Big Island. It is in a VERY quiet neighborhood within 2 miles of the entrance to Volcanoes National Park. Our first night there, we saw the smoke and glow of Kilauea from the cottage's front porch! How cool is that? With two geologists among us, it was a GREAT start to our stay in Volcano. The house is clean and kitchen fully equipped with anything you might need to prepare meals. Two full baths are great. Plenty of linens, including beach towels. Electric grill on the porch for cook-outs. Internet access if you need it, and a large tv in the living room - not that you'll have time to watch anything. Too much to be doing outside. Caught site of the endangered Nenes one early morning on the golf course nearby. Each of our mornings started with a fantastic home-cooked breakfast at the Country Goose Bed & Breakfast. It is a few miles' drive to the Country Goose from the cottage, but well worth it. Joan and her grandson Shannon provided family-style breakfasts that were delicious - fresh fruit, waffles, coffee, eggs and sausage, pancakes, strawberries and fresh whipped cream, We walked away stuffed and happy. Hosts were gracious and fun to get to know, along with other vacationers sharing breakfast with us. A great location for exploring the park - be sure to include the short Kipukapuaulu Trail walk and drive up Mauna Loa - both accessible within a short drive from the cottage. Definitely would go back and stay here again. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!"

"We really enjoyed everything about this house. Its location is great, near Volcanoes National Park. The house is furnished beautifully (great Hawaiian quilts) and the back yard is lovely. The owners made us feel very welcome; we enjoyed the fruit and sweet bread that was left for us. We even found crayons and coloring books for the kids, as well as a high chair. We had a great time."
