Lovely home, amazing surroundings!
"After shelling out close to $300 a night at a "just okay" Kailua-Kona hotel, it was sheer joy to open the door at to the spotless, roomy, cozy, amazingly well-appointed Hale Mauka. We loved cooking in the kitchen and appreciated the heads-up from Diana that we needed to get groceries outside of town. We ate breakfasts on the porch, enjoyed the deep soaking tub, had a couple of great walks, and slept very soundly despite HEAVY rain the first night. And of course enjoyed the nearby attractions in the Park tremendously. This place was just terrific and our only sadness was not being able to stay longer."

"Wonderful Xmas time spent in that house : everything inside -and outside- is made to feel you like home while on vacation ! On top of that the house is very close to Volcanoes national park (easy to be there early and late in the day), and not too far from Hilo should you need some groceries, or visit the north of Hilo, and if you feel the mood it is also easy to drive to South point !
We hghly recommend this cosy cottage."

"An excellent place to stay in Volcano! We spent the first part of our trip on the beaches of the mid-northwest part of the island and it was a great change of scenery (plus the drive down was amazing). Nice local places to eat (we enjoyed the Lava Rock Cafe, the Hawaiian Lunch special at the Rim Restaurant in the park, and Shaka restaurant [about an hour and a half south]). Easy 5 minute access to the National Park and its amazing trails and view of the crater at night. About an hour away from a gorgeous black sand beach, (cooled) lava flows to the east, etc. The cabin made for a good homebase to explore, plus it was cozy to boot! Loved the fireplace, the giant windows looking onto the beautiful ferns, etc. Would recommend to all!"
