The right mix of "cabin" and "luxury"
"We've stayed at Ferntree Hideaway several times and we love it! My husband and I have concluded that this home is perfect in every way. It is a wonderful mix of a cabin in the rainforest, but has many wonderful touches which take it way beyond "cabin". My favorite spot is the living room corner with the windows. It allows the rainforest to be part of the living space. The tub with its wall of window is also a wonderful place to enjoy being in the rainforest. This home incorporates its surroundings so well, you can really experience the rainforest while staying warm and dry!
While you feel like you are in the middle of the jungle, our favorite Thai restaurant is only a few minutes away and a quick phone call gets an order to go. Eating it back at Ferntree makes it all the more special.
One thing which we always find amazing is how cool it is up here at Volcano. We always end up wearing our jeans and warmest "Hawaii clothes" while we are here. The bedding though always keeps us nice and toasty.
Kristen is an excellent hostess and is always available for advice. It is so easy to rent from her.
We are already looking forward to our next visit to Volcano and Ferntree Hideaway!"

"This cozy bungalow is tucked into the rainforest and as the other reviewers have said, it is a wonderful place to stay. My partner and I just spent a week there and used it as a base to explore the Volcano NP, Puna and K"au. Coming home at night to a fully stocked kitchen and a fireplace was a great way to relax at the end of the day. Vicky is an artist and has great taste in the paintings, photos, and ceramics that make this VRBO rental a unique and personal place to stay. She is also a great resource."

"Our stay at Hale Mahina was perfect. Everything we needed was at our disposal. The neighborhood was very nice and quiet. Loved the heated blankets and fireplace on a few chilly nights. We were close enough to everything and everyplace we wanted to go. A nice assortment of tourist information and recommendations for restaurants provided. It was cool to see the wild pheasant outside the front door and the beautiful flowers/plants. Cheryl and Frank are wonderful and assure your stay will be a place to call home while away from home. Very little was expected upon exiting so that made it super easy. Beautiful home and setting. Definitely would return to this cottage!"

"Our stay at this La Capanna lodge was simply awesome. Our group consisted of 4 adults, 2 kids, and 2 babies. Donna was generous enough to let our big group stay at her lodge. Complete kitchen allowed us to cook 3 meals, large backyard allowed the children to run around, and the cozy fireplace kept us warm at night. Outside patio table and chairs was perfect for a little picnic-feel lunch. Very neatly kept and great location. It allowed us to just drive to the Jagger museum at night to see the lava. There was everything we needed (kitchen supplies, to towels, etc.) Donna was very responsive. We loved everything about this lodge. We did not want a house that was too big. Very cozy and at night, we could huddle around the fireplace and just have a nice family time. 10% off for returning guests! Yes, we will come again for sure!"
