  • Impressive house AND customer service

"We had stayed in this house before in 2012 and were very impressed by the location, the house, cleanliness and helpfulness of the manager Mike. This time we intended to stay for a month from December 8 to January 8,2015 with my children for two anniversaries. In September 2014 Mike warned us about the the potential threat of Pele, a lava flow towards Leilani Estates and Pahoa. Since I hda booked for 7 people pus flights and the lavaflow kept pushing towards Pahoa, I decided to cancel late October. Mike was very understanding and gave us a full refund. This is very impressive. Luckily the house will be likely safe, and the flow, so far has stalled about 200m from Pahoa, but at some point it will cut the only access road to Pahoa. The house is fantastic,Mike is very helpful, and I have no hesitation to recommend Angel House to future renters, when the situation has been "normalized". It is by far the best rental of VRBO I have experienced, and I will certainly return in a future year. Kees Visser"

"We liked the wrap around porch, giving us a view of the surrounding gardens. We wanted a place to stay one night near Volcano Nat'l Pk and we found it. We had no intention of setting up housekeeping or doing any cooking, though this home is well equipped for the activities. It is clean and comfortable. The fireplace was used-thanks for having the wood cut and ready-since the weather outside was in the 50'sF and we needed a little heat. This home suited our purposes very well. Thank you for letting us share it with you."

  • Hidden Away

"Hard to believe that one can be so remote on an Island. We liked being out in the woods.... very relaxing... Just go with it and get supplies while your out so you don't have to keep going out. We were all over this side of the island....Hiking Lava, snorkeling.....Had fish and vegetables from local markets....Farmers market in Hilo was great... Very friendly people... be respectful...This is their home don't act Californian or "uppity" ....this is a way different experience than the Resort / Luau experience.... If you need all that stuff and you can't be open to the local people stay at the resorts....this is different and adventurous.... the cottage was great... we had fresh fish and food every night......Frog symphony all night ( I liked it) .....wild chickens walk around and roosters will go off in the morning sometimes right out the door sometimes far off... I was up at 5 am anyway ... didn't want to miss the day......"
