  • Tropical Pool home in Pahoa #426984

"I give this place excellent. This is a beautiful very relaxing area. The house is very huge, clean and well maintained. The pool is a plus. It's easy to find and very private. We stayed from April 3 to April 8 and I wish we could have stayed longer! The owner of this property is easy to get in contact with. Everything that is needed prior to our stay, he made sure we got all the information and welcomed us. I was very impress with him. I definently recommend this place. *****?"

  • Family Retreat

"We stayed at Nanea Kai in late July/early August for 6 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. There were 7 of us in our party including 8 & 10 year old grandchildren. The tidal pool was a big hit, both because of the Koi (the kids named each one) and because we could practice snorkeling in it. The house itself is well maintained and up to date. It was wonderful to have a washer & dryer to use. Beds were comfortable and we really appreciated the fans in every room. We traveled to the volcano, the Rainbow Falls, into Hilo, to Mona Kea Visitor’s Center, and across the island to swim and snorkel. We found restaurants & grocery stores in Pahoa although we did stop at Safeway in Hilo as we went through there. We hope that Tropical Storm Iselle didn’t do damage to the property so that others will be able to enjoy it, also. Thanks, Kim, for a great time. We appreciated your house, all your snorkeling gear & boogie boards, and especially your flexibility on our departure time. Our 10 year old grandson summed it all up by saying, as we were leaving, “I’m going to miss this place.”"

  • Absolutely astonishing

"We stayed at the Kapoho home for two weeks. We had big plans to explore the island...but we loved the property and the cute little town of Pahoa so much that we did not want to leave. We explored all of the local swimming holes...the tidal pools, the champaign ponds, the warm park down the street, but none of them were as nice as the lagoon right on the property. The coqui frogs politely went to sleep by 11:00, the rain came and went, but was never a bother, the breeze was reliable, and the stars and the sunrises were beautiful. Right across the street on Friday is a great little fruit and vegetable market, and I highly recommend taking the hike up the hill by Green Lake. Smiley works the market and she can give you all the info you need. The people all around the area were so friendly. We felt so welcome and appreciated. The kids loved our time there. We were able to put away our screens and enjoy nature and each other's company. The property was just as amazing as the pictures indicate, the owners were super nice, Grant was very helpful. The nearby town has great restaurants. Don't miss the Tin Shack Bakery, which has the best coffee, the Island Market for great healthy food, and all of the local farmers markets. We had such a great time."

  • A Volcano Village Find!

"What a great place to stay in Volcano Village— much larger than a bungalow. We stayed four nights and loved it! The rental is surrounded by beautiful, lush scenery of gigantic ferns, tall trees, and fragrant flowers. The house is clean and has everything you could imagine-- a fully stocked, large kitchen, a library of reading material, artwork, two very comfortable beds, washer/dryer, and lots of large windows to enjoy the lovely scenery typical of Volcano Village. The on-site owner, Vicky, was kind and accommodating. We greatly appreciated her telling us about the Big Island volcanoes and taking us to the observatory. We would definitely recommend staying here."
