"Much has been said in the previous reviews, and I agree with what was posted. So, I'll just add a few things that might help you make a decision or in your planning.
We brought all our snorkeling gear, but that was totally unnecessary. The closet in the laundry area is well-stocked with boogie boards, beach chairs, snorkels, masks, flippers, beach toys, and even a cooler and umbrella - basically everything you'd need to relax on the beach.
I rented a longboard in Hanalei, but the waves were breaking nicely here in Anahola bay so I didn't surf anywhere else. Of course, wave conditions change throughout the year, but while we were here, low tide brought waist-high waves to the bay a few hundred yards to the right of the backyard every morning, and high tide brought in decent rides straight out on the reef.
It was also a perfect place for our kids to explore. Down the beach to the right is a river mouth and lagoon that changes with the tide. Our girls played there every day. On weekdays, they had it pretty much all to themselves. On the weekend, lots of people visit that area, so our kids made lots of friends, but the home is far enough away to still have privacy, even when the bay is crowded.
The reef protects the beach from the big pounding beach break, so it was perfect for us to let our girls explore and swim to their hearts content.
The house and location was perfect. It was exactly what I hoped."

"This is the second time my husband and I stayed at Secret Cove Villa, and we are huge fans. Last year we rented it as a couple, but this year we rented it with another couple, and there was ample room. With bedrooms on either side of the house, it is well suited for two couples or a family. The location on Aliomanu Bay is terrific if you like access to the North Shore, but dislike crowds (as we do). Waking up to the sunrise on the Bay is a special treat...as is returning to the Villa after a day of exploring and just chilling in the natural pool directly below the house. Snorkling and swimming are good too (though I'd wear watershoes or fins, as the bottom is somewhat rocky). You share the beach only with your neighbors, and a handful of locals who are in-the-know. The views from every room are just breathtaking. The home is older, but well taken care of, and the owners equip it with just about everything one might need for a fabulous vacation. Eunice, the on-island housekeeper, was very responsive when we had issues with the TV. I wish I was still sitting on the lanai, with a cocktail in hand! Aloha!"

The property manager was very helpful.
The vacation rental was spotless.
I was very happy with the location.
I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental.
Overall, I recommend this vacation rental.
We had a lovely time at the Sandcastles rental. We had 6 adults and 1 4yr old stay for 1 week in May 2015. It was nice to have a full bathroom for each couple (1 bathroom not directly connected to the room like the other 2). We had a lovely, beach wedding ceremony steps away from the lawn, followed by a tent reception in the HUGE grassy lawn surrounded by lush garden which gave us more privacy. We can't wait to return to this home again someday! My only feedback is they could use a new shower head in the large, master bathroom and it would be nice if the sliding doors locked more securely (each door had a dowel that kept it locked). Many thanks to Lisa who promptly answered our numerous questions!"

"Our stay at the Ginger Beach House was terrific! There was plenty of space for two families of 4 (41-8 years old). We were often the only people on the breach at Anahola Bay. The waves were perfect for boogie boarding and on one end of the bay the water is very calm for it is protects by a reef. The reef is also a great spot to snorkel! We spent several of our days just relaxing on the beach and enjoying the property. We loved that the home had everything we needed from garbage bags to laundry detergent. The kitchen was fully stocked with quality cookware. We grilled fresh fish on the gas grill almost every night and ate at the large outdoor table. We hope to travel to Kauai again soon and stay at the Ginger Beach House again!"
