  • Wonderful Condo

"We stayed here for 10 nights. The location is PERFECT since you are literally steps from the ocean. I was a little leery about noise from the pool since it is right outside the front door, but there was minimal noise. In fact, Lae Nani is the quietest place I've ever stayed. The views from this condo were amazing. We spent so much time on the lanai just soaking it all in. The unit itself was clean. It feels a little bit dated, but honestly not too bad. The kitchen was fully stocked. There is only one very small t.v. in the family room and we never even turned it on. I was actually glad because who wants to sit and watch t.v. when you could be staring at the ocean instead?! There is a little t.v. in the MBR to catch up on the day's events ;) The grounds here are beautifully maintained and the groundskeepers take pride in their work. Security guards were out day and night. The pool area, while nothing fancy, was very nice. We spent a lot of time at the pool chatting with our upstairs neighbors and floating. All in all a wonderful vacation and we will be back!"

  • Fabulous Beach House For A Group Vacation

"Our group of six had a great time at this property, and all agreed that, in all our many trips to Kauai (for some spanning over 30 years), it was our favorite accommodation. With four bedrooms and three bathrooms, I think the property works best for a group of between five and eight. The pictures do not capture how stunningly beautiful the view of the beach is from the large dining table, living room and deck – all are great gathering places and, at this time of year, also wonderful for whale viewing. The kitchen has all you need to prepare group meals, and there is a barbecue on the deck for preparing the usually available local fresh fish (best place for fish continues to be the Fish Express in Lihue). As with many (most) beach houses, upkeep and fix-it availability are key issues when considering a rental. Roger Lasky, who has been the caretaker for this property for the past seven years, lives within ten minutes of the property and was very responsive and capable in assisting us with minor fix-up details. He’s a great guy and also a good source of information about local resources and things to do. Anahola Beach where the property is a half-a-mile sandy beach on a nice bay that, depending on conditions, can be good for swimming, boogie-boarding, kayaking, paddle boarding or other water activities. The houses along the beach appear to be equally occupied by residents and vacation renters. We found people to be friendly, and the remarkable little beach dog, Sardine, who lives next door, the friendliest of all (Sardine of Anahola has a well-deserved local rep for being friendly & has her own Facebook page). Away from the beach, the rest of the small town is working-class residents. For provisioning or restaurants, you should probably plan on making the 5-10 minute drive into Kapaa. Many thanks again to the owner and Mr. Lasky for a great vacation experience."

  • Magical

"Magical is the one word to describe Walden by the Sea. The pictures online do not in any way provide the full beauty and serenity. (1) The guest house is spacious, calming and met every need. It’s hard to believe this is actually a “guest house”. We loved having breakfast on the lanai, listening to the ocean, watching all of the different birds coming and going, and having the breathtaking scenery of the property. (2) The beach is stunning and has it all. If you like to snorkel, fish, ride the waves, walk the beach or simply relax with a great book, this beach is it. We visited several beaches, but decided this beach is the best. Most of time we were by ourselves with the exception of the sting rays we saw up close or the monk seal that was sun bathing. (3) Location, location, location……perfect. We love that this location is a little secluded, but close enough to other towns for popular restaurants and shopping. You are not surrounded by all of the “touristy” crowds. (4) Patti the caretaker of the property is absolutely amazing. She is the cherry on the sundae. She helped us with so many questions and was so kind and gracious. We were blessed to have our wedding on the beach and Patti was kind enough to connect us with her sister, Chris Lonie who is a photographer (Kohalafoto Photography). What a pleasure to work with Chris. Can’t begin to describe how perfect our wedding day was because of Chris and Patti. They went above and beyond what was expected. They treated us like we were family. We had a wonderful vacation/honeymoon and hope to spend many anniversaries at Walden by the Sea."
