  • Vacation Getaway

"We really enjoyed our stay in spite of some interesting weather that included an amazing lightning storm. The location was wonderful on a quiet side street. We really enjoyed Kapaa and the locals were warm and friendly. The kitchen amenities could use a bit of updating but we loved every minute of our stay."

  • Kauai Cottage = A Little Bit of Heaven

"My husband and I stayed at the cottage for nine days in August. We had the best time! The cottage is so comfortable and private. Holly and Rick were available whenever we needed them for questions or help with loading up the kayak that they have in the sport shack. Holly had fruit and macadamia nut cookies in a cute little basket prepared for us when we arrived and the most beautiful flowers in the cottage for us. She also provided candles for romantic dinners. My husband wanted to go, go, go the entire trip and Holly was also nice enough to leave the outdoor lights on for us when we'd roll in late some evenings after being out swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, and hiking since early in the morning. There are some ants here and there, but nothing we couldn't handle. There are mosquitoes outdoors, but I used a citrus type spray that was under the bathroom sink and it seemed to work for me and I tend to draw mosquitoes like crazy. My husband's favorite thing was the outdoor shower. I absolutely loved the geckos that come out at night. The outdoor hot tub is also so relaxing and enjoyable, especially late at night under the stars. We also slept with the windows behind the bed open every night so we could smell the pure air and hear the soft rain fall in the mornings. My husband has been unhappy since returning home and says he wants to return and smell the fresh air. I totally agree with him and we both can't wait to visit once again. Thank you Holly and Rick for making the little cottage so special. It was so perfect for us and we truly had an enjoyable and romantic vacation, which my husband and I were both in dire need of before another busy year of kids, school, and work. Mahalo! D&M"

  • You have no idea...

" wonderful this property is. We're not easily impressed. We've stayed at all the major Hawaii resorts - Four Seasons, Fairmont, Princeville, etc. We've traveled the world and enjoyed rental properties from Whistler to Tuscany. We've never had a vacation like this. You can tell a lot about a property's owners by the arrival experience. After a 4 hour delay on an inbound aircraft, I'd figured Joe and Beth might not be around at the time we'd proposed. Upon arrival in LIH they'd sent the first text message to me and letting me know that they'd be waiting for us even though we were running late. Not only were they at the house when we arrived, Joe helped me bring in all the luggage (2 cars, 10 people) and Beth was showing my wife around the property - they stayed for almost an hour answering all our questions and making sure we were comfortable. They went out of their way to make sure our arrival was not only smooth, but 100% worry-free. During the stay, Joe and Beth were never more than a text away, helping me figure out little details about the house, or recommending a local hike or lunch spot. We really didn't need much support, and frankly we didn't really end up leaving the house much. When you've got such a beautiful location with what's basically your own private beach and acres of resort-quality grounds, why leave? Sure, we did a few hikes, but we spent countless hours playing soccer in the huge manicured yard, or lounging in the hammock, or snorkeling in front of the house. Every night we enjoyed (yes, enjoyed!) cooking in the ridiculously nice kitchen or on the massive grill, while the kids chased each other and then we sat down for a 10-person dinner at the beautiful table. The house was perfect for kids (we had 5 of them ages 2-10) and i don't think I ever heard one say that they were bored. Probably the best testament of all - I'm not sure the TV was on for more than a few hours over the entire week - including the Super Bowl... To close, it's been a month or two since our trip, and I still find myself thinking back to those days on the massive porch, enjoying the sunset, watching the kids enjoy the hot tub while I tend the grill, and I can honestly say with out a single doubt, this was the best vacation we've had in our entire lives. We'll be back for sure. You'd be hard pressed to find a better property in all the islands, and I challenge you not to have the time of your lives here. Thank you Joe & Beth!"
