"This is a VERY, VERY clean, comfortable, upgraded condo and not to mention that the location is great. It is centrally located that made driving to all sides of the island easier. Everything from parking lot, elevator, stairs, the well manicured lawn is well taken care of by the resort's staff. Staff are very nice and respectful. Susan, the owner, manages her property, which is even better, as she herself makes sure you are well taken care. No corporate regs and rules, nor policies to worry about. Rest assure that she will make sure her unit will surpass your expectations. We love renting directly from owners, like Susan, because we get a lot more extras, compared to some hotels or corporation. Our experience from her confirmed that even more. Susan has thought of everything and anything that you could imagine, to make your stay feel like you are at home, or even better! The kitchen has every tools and gadgets that you need if you enjoy cooking. I do, so having a well equipped and very clean kitchen is very important to me. This is the first condo we have rented that has a rice cooker!!! My husband and I enjoyed relaxing on the lanai with the beach just steps away. Beautiful view! Enjoyed each day watching the spectacular sunrise directly from the kitchen, living room, lanai areas. There is a nice lighted walking/biking path next to the property, along the ocean front. This is our 2nd time in Kauai. What caught my attention among all the other VRBOs in the same resort is the attention to details that Susan has provided to the property and the fact that Susan personally contacts her guests, by phone, not just by email. She called me almost minutes of my inquiry, I can then tell that she is someone I wanted to rent from and she followed through with great communications and excellent service to us! Susan cares to provide nothing but the best. Unlike some sites that guests are being "rewarded" to leave comments, this comment is being provided, because we are truly satisfied and blessed for having to find Susan' vacation rental. There are movies, books, water shoes, flashlights, spices (salt, pepper and beyond!), nice pots and pans, sliding kitchen drawers, coffee grinder, and helpful instructions on where to find things in the condo, or how to.... There is even a club card to get the discount at a Foodland Grocery Store in the miscellaneous drawer in the kitchen. Pack light and come to Susan's piece of paradise!!!"Guest: A & E Date of Stay: September 2014 Review Submitted: September 22, 2014View listing
"Lanikai is our favorite place to stay in Kauai, it feels like our 2nd home in paradise. Loved the condo, everything had been recently renovated. Our favorite place was the front room area, with the 2 separate sitting areas, which made it nice since there were 2 couples. The openness and lovely color scheme made it very comfy and nice to sit and relaxed with the view of the ocean. I would highly recommend this condo to my friends, love the location and the quaintness of a smaller property. My brother and his wife did the Safari helicopter and just loved it, just make sure that you pay for the upgrade and get the front row seats, well worth the extra money for the panoramic views. Love the location, it's on the east side, so it's about in the middle going up North or South. So many wonderful places to eat in Kauai, just within walking distance is Kintaro's and Korean BBQ, which we enjoyed. Looking for a nice evening out, then head out to Poipu to The Red Salt or Rum Fire. Another local favorite place is Tip Top in Lihue, I love the saimen as well as other local favorites. Make sure to go to one of the farmers market, great place to get fruits and vegetables at a reasonable price and fresh too!!! I love being at the pool, but my husband loves going down to the beach, it's a small beach, but not crowded at all. There is a cove lagoon area for kids, which makes it safe. Everyone in the office was very nice and accommodating to our needs."Guest: Honu Date of Stay: October 2014 Review Submitted: November 24, 2014View listing
"We recently spent a week at Kathleen's beautiful condo and cannot praise it enough. The Pono Kai resort is beautifully maintained and the staff are friendly and helpful. The location is idyllic. This is ocean front and the view is sensational. You can basically swim directly out the front. If you like to walk then the walking path(also located out the front) allows you to explore the local area for miles and there are some wonderful vistas along the way. Also there are a variety of restaurants, supermarkets and specialty stores within walking distance. Its location at Kapaa is central and you can easily explore the island's north and southern shores from this location. The unit itself is clean and well maintained. The air conditioning works well but struggles to get to the bed room however, Kathleen makes up for this by providing abundant fans as well as the ceiling fans (also the cool trade winds have a wonderful effect). The kitchen is large and exceptionally well equipped with every appliance and gadget you can think of. The bathroom is clean and has a bath tub with the shower in it. There was a generous provision of towels, beach towels and a bathroom starter pack. In addition, there was beach chairs, beach umbrellas, coolers, fishing rods and boogie boards. The in room safe was also useful. If you needed to wash your clothes, the laundry was 10 metres away and had efficient coin operated washers and dryers. Also, the Wi Fi worked exceptionally well and allowed you to keep in contact with the outside world. Finally the cable TV had many channels to view and worked well. The photos do not tell any lies. This is a great unit and I hope to be able to get back to it again in the near future. Kathleen, the owner is helpful and speedily replied to any emails. A little gem!!!!!"Guest: Ron F.
