LOVE this place!! Can't wait to return!
"My husband and I just returned from an 8 day stay at Woodie and Karen's beautiful condo. It is even better in person than in photos ( if that is possible!). From the moment we walked in the front door, it truly felt like home. It is spotless - and really nicely decorated!
All the little extras that were provided for us ( beautiful soaps, delicious tea and coffee, plush robes, local fruit ------ and a bottle of champagne - to "start" our retirement-- so thoughtful!---) only added to the wonderful experience at this condo. The cupboards are well stocked with pots and pans, dishes, bowls, glassware - everything we needed to cook our meals. There is also beach towels, chairs, coolers, umbrella - all the things you need for beach time - but don't want to bring with you or go out and buy!
The view out the massive sliding glass doors to the beautifully maintained grounds, pool and ocean was so pretty - just couldn't get enough of it!
The guidebooks provided were very helpful. We were lucky enough to meet Woodie one morning at the condo - had a really nice chat. ( Thanks for the cookies!) Went to Monicos twice for dinner--loved it there. Great Mexican food!
Of all the condo's we have stayed in while vacationing on the islands - this is truly the nicest! Can't wait to return!!"

"I just returned from my first visit to Kauai and can't say enough about this condo. It is decorated beautifully and the owners have thought of everything needed for an enjoyable time on the island. It was wonderful to be able to see the ocean from the living room as well as the master bedroom and to open the sliding glass doors and walk out onto the gorgeous lawn. The landscapers do an amazing job and it's so pretty at night with the tiki torches lit. Swimming in the pool under the starry sky while listening to the waves crash onto the beach was a highlight for all of us. Oh...and the beds! Soooo comfy. Absolutely perfect!"

"This condo is absolutely amazing and the view is spectacular. We spent our 20th anniversary here (10 glorious days), and could think of no better way to have spent it. Where you stay on a vacation can make all the difference and this condo did just that. We couldn't have asked for a better place or location. It was so conveniently located to everywhere you can drive. One of the things we really enjoyed was sitting on the lanai in the evening and watching airplanes land and take off and also watch cruise ships enter and leave port. Then there is the beach -- just a few steps away and a convenient store right across the street. It doesn't get any better. We WILL be back to this condo again. Almost forgot the artwork, breathtaking. Mahalo to the owners, Zoe and Marvis."

"My wife and I first stayed in this unit back in 2008. Since then we've stayed in 4 different units at the Pono Kai Resort over the years and this unit is still one of our favorites. The location & view are very nice even though it's not oceanfront. The unit is set back from the oceanfront walkway as you can see from the picture from the unit's lanai. If walkers, joggers & bikers looking into your unit bothers you this unit would be perfect for you.
The unit is showing a little age and could use some updating but it's comfortable and well equip. Also, it has chairs for the beach, beach umbrella, beach towels, large cooler, noodles for floating & snorkeling equipment for you to use.
One thing that did bother us on this stay was a musty smell when we entered the unit but it went away once the doors to the lanai were opened letting in the fresh air and the cool the breeze. The unit doesn't have air conditioning and generally it not needed except on the rare occasions when the trade winds aren't blowing.
Kapa'a is a great location as home base for visiting the rest of the island. Traffic can be a little bit of a hassle when leaving the Pono Kai Resort but not enough for us to consider staying elsewhere. Nice beaches are a short drive away and you can be in Hanalei in about 45 minute and Ke'e Beach in about another 20 minutes. In the other direction it's about a 45 minute drive to Po'ipu Beach and an hour to the road leading up to Waimea Canyon.
Bottom line....This unit at the Pono Kai Resort is one of our first choices when we come to Kauai. It's a nice unit in good condition with a nice view making it a good value for the money."
