"Rating Details: I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was very happy with the location. The vacation rental was spotless. The property manager was more than helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Very good. Excellent view from Lanai. Traffic on highway is bumper to bumper. Much worse than 4 years ago. Unit spacious and comfortable. Could use new replacement current television in living room and more lounge chairs on lanai."

  • 3rd floor condo with amazing views

"I loved staying here right next to the ocean and listening to the waves with easy immediate access to the beach walkway. The property was great. Only complaint was that it got really hot in the condo, but strategically placing fans next to open windows cooled it down so we could sleep."

  • Great Condo, Great Location

"This was our first trip to Hawaii. My wife and I stayed in this unit and my two boys and their families staying in a unit close to ours. The airport and car rentals are ten to fifteen minutes away from the resort. The condo had everything we needed and is very well kept. The condo looks just like the photographs. The pool is just steps away from the bedroom and living room and the beach is just a short walk away. The pool is very well kept and we used the barbecues a couple of times to cook dinner. Our grand kids loved feeding the Koi and the frogs that go in the Koi pond at nights. The owner, Laura, was able to rent us a pack and play for one of the grand kids to use, which was very helpful. Just across the street from the resort is a McDonald's, Starbucks, two grocery stores and severals restaurants. While the beach at the resort is not good for swimming, Lydgate park, which is a short distance away has two shallow pools that are nice to swim in or great for children to snorkel in. There is a lot to do on the island. We went zip lining one day and we went to Smith's luau another night. The food was great and it is all you can eat and drink, including alcohol. While at Smith's we also took the river cruise to the fern grotto. One day we went on the train ride at the Plantation. The grand kids liked feeding the wild pigs and chickens. We went paddle boarding at Nawiliwili beach and drove to the North and West sides of the island. The North shore was beautiful. There are a lot of rivers, beautiful beaches, and waterfalls. On the West shore we went to the coffee plantation and had lunch at the Shrimp Station in Waimea. We loved the time we spent on Kauai. I only wish we would have had another week."

  • Best place to stay on East side of Kauai!

"This was my second stay in Gary & Barbara's condo at PonoKai and it is my favorite! The location of PonoKai, and especially this unit is perfect for me. The privacy and usual quietness of the unit, as well as ocean view, make this ideal. I love being in Kapaa town, close to restaurants and shops, especially quilting stores, Vicky's and Kapaia Stitchery. The Trade winds are wonderful for freshness and cooling most of the time. When VOG blows in, a fan is needed. Gary's unit is stocked with just about everything you could want or need in kitchen or for outdoor excursions. Gary always responds to questions and the local caretakers are responsive and helpful. I would highly recommend this unit for anyone."
