Nice Resort and Room - Great location for Exploring the Island on your own
"The Resort is nice and staff are very friendly. The pools are great with a sand beach one with a slide, one with a volley ball net, and the other for swimming. 2 hot tubs on either side of the grotto are nice as well. Seems like pools in Hawaii close at 10pm though just FYI. You get a towel card that you exchange for a towel and can change towels out for fresh ones whenever you want, but make sure you exchange for the card back when you check out so they don't charge you for the towels (This also seems pretty standard at Hawaii hotels). We only ate at the Bar once, the food is kinda pricey, but what we got (fish sandwich and burger) we pretty good. There are a lot of great food options on the island as well, plus when you are exploring you mainly eat where you are at. (Tip Top and Keoki's are great local Hawaiian food places and close to the Resort) They have pretty good happy hour specials though at the Pool bar and the one in the main lobby ($6 Mai Tai's).
The room was very comfortable with a great view of the ocean from the porch. The bathrooms are clean and very nice. You do have the option to have your room taken care of every day, but you will have to pay for that. The room has a safe, small fridge, hair dryer, and iron. We got Hawaiian Ahi & mussel poke at the local grocery store that was awesome and stored it in the fridge.
The pictures are accurate so go by those to help make your decision. Was really happy with choosing this option since we were driving all around the Island (all the way to the West for Wimea Canyon Look out - to the North for Hanalei Bay). It's not a 5-star hotel, but a for the price and location a 5-star experience. Had a great time with my wife here, would definitely recommend."

"Our family recently stayed at this cliffside house in July. The location is less than five minutes from the Lihue airport but we never experienced air traffic noise. We walked to the elevator which is about 500 ft from the house and which takes you directly to the Marriott Beach Resort grounds. The beach here is one which is protected from the open ocean and which our boys (7,9, 9)loved playing in. Kayak rentals and even surf lessons can be set up from the beachside shop here. The home even has some boogie boards which they utilized extensively. Im not sure if its the time of year, but this was not a crystal clear beach but the sands were perfect, the pool service from the Beach Resort was prompt and the food and drinks were great. We even utilized the small cooler in the garage to bring our own drinks and snacks to the beach. All beaches are public including this one so many folks bring their own things.
This is a three level home with the main floor consisting of an open, one-level kitchen with a comfortable living room overlooking Kalapaki beach. This is an air conditioned home. Due to high electrical costs in Hawaii the owner does make a point to ask that utilization be reduced when the home is not occupied. I appreciate prevailing winds but I don't like to be hot, especially on vacation. This was a nice plus as many rentals are not air conditioned. The home was immaculately clean upon our arrival. Our three boys and niece had ample room to relax. The kitchen is well appointed with a large stainless steel refrigerator which we stocked with groceries from Costco which is less than 10 minutes away (has all the same things our Costco had plus a few regional foods). We only used the entertainment system in the living room which is equipped with a nice variety of electronic equipment including a Roku. The bedrooms are huge and each comes with their own full size balcony. You can host a dinner party in each of the master bathrooms.
Other perks are the full sized washer and dryer and the outdoor shower.
Improvements that can be made include placing a regular bed in the loft bedroom off the main floor. This currently has pull out couch which was left in bed mode the entire time and which has little use as a couch.
We will plan on returning to this home which has a great location, incredible views and offers modern, clean luxury in a 2800 sq three level layout with AC!"

"My husband and I stayed at the Lincoln's villa in Kauai for our honeymoon. We were thrilled to find it on VRBO, but we were in awe when we actually stepped foot in the rental. It was stunning! Much nicer than many hotels we've stayed in plus the added bonus of laundry and kitchenette! It's the perfect location, you have a beach, restaurants and activities all within walking distance and it's a great central starting point if you're going to go explore the rest of the island. The view from the villa of Kalapaki beach is beautiful; we loved watching the early morning surfers and listening to the sounds of the waves at night. The Lincoln's were extremely accomodating! With the amenities they provided we were able to snorkel, boogie board, and spend hours on the beach using the towels and beach chairs they have for their guests. We didn't want to leave! I would absolutely recommend this rental! And we definitely plan on visiting again!"

"We've stayed at Dawns Cottage for a week and it was nothing but a perfect place to stay. Upon arrival the torches were lit and Dawn was greeting us. She walked us through and had tons of tips. Theres a nice book she made with all the info we needed for a perfect stay. Another really awesome point is that Dawn provides erverything needed for a perfect beach day! Umbrella, Chairs, BoogieBoards, Cooler, Snorkling etc.
Thanks again for the perfect stay!
