  • Convenient location, comfortable, nicely equipped

"We were here for 3 nights (9/30-10/3) to celebrate my mother's 89th birthday and visit with relatives. The location was great for what we wanted to see and being near the relatives. The unit was comfortable and well stocked with many extras such as zip lock bags, paper towels, insulated cooler bags, blue ice & ice packs, cotton swabs, etc. The are 6 steps to the front entry and the bedrooms were upstairs, which did get a little tiring for my Mom, but she did fine. Everytime we returned to the unit, we always found parking in front of the building. We were glad that there were AC wall units because of the heat and humidity, but the unit in the 2nd bedroom was noisy and didn't really cool off the room well because not the wall between the bedroom and the hall did notgo all the way up to the ceiling. There is no view from this unit, but I already knew that. We bought all our meals so didn't use the kitchen for cooking, but there were pans and utensils if we had chosen to cook. The microwave was handy to heat up our left overs. The large trash bins were not far from the unit when we had to throw out all the trash before leaving. There was a full size stacking washer and dryer along with detergent and dryer sheet, which we didn't need to use. Getting in and out of the complex onto Rice St/Nawiliwili Rd can sometimes be difficult when there is a lot of traffic, but most times it was fine. The Costco, K-Mart, Times Supermarket, Longs Drugs, Sports Authority were all within a couple miles and easy to get to. Costco had the cheapest gas. We liked the food at Mark's Place in the Puhi Industrial area and at Fish Express across from Wilcox hospital. There were lawn chairs, boogie boards, beach towels, paperback books, extra towels and pillows available, which we didn't use."

  • Simply splendid

"This was our first visit to Kauai but I can't imagine staying anyplace else in the future. The condo is exactly as advertised. Four of us shared the condo and had plenty of space. While we did not do much cooking, the kitchen was nicely appointed. The unit is separated from the Marriott hotel, but close enough to enjoy the amenities, plus there are plenty of dining and shopping (from souvenirs to necessities) within a short drive. I highly recommend this property."

  • Great Stay, Great Value

"Let me start with where we stayed and then why only four stars. He has two properties and we opted for the hotel and not the condo. The reason not 5 stars was because the Four Seasons or the Ritz would be 5 stars, this is an excellent resort though. Your vacation will be what you make it, so I won't tell you how to spend your time and will only talk about the property. Third, this is an incredible value for what you get. I can honestly say you won't find any better accommodations for these prices...... I looked long and hard. It's clean, open, well manicured, and friendly attentive staff. There are 4 pools, I think, and a tropical waterfall in it along with a pool bar. We spent very little time on premise during the day, we left around 6:30 most mornings and found ourselves getting home around 8:30 every night, so I can't speak about lunch. Morning you have 2 options at the hotel, full sit down breakfast with options for menu or buffet. You're going to pay $40 no matter what for 2 adults. It's good, variety of options, fresh and you will find some, if not many, things you like. The other option is coffee and muffin for $6 in the gift shop. This was our option most days as we were on the go, plus we are not the type to eat a 4 course meal for breakfast usually. Dinner options are semi formal dining or bar food. We had both, and the bar food was good, again, above average. The semi formal dining was terrible and fantastic at the same time. My dish was overcooked and really just not good, however my wife's was incredible. Maybe the best plate we had all trip. My advice is order something you like, don't ask the wait staff for recommendations. All that being said, my one dish was the ONLY bad experience I had and it was very easily overlooked. The drinks are poured well, all the bartenders mix drinks the way they should be. They don't water it down or skimp on you. The rooms are clean and kept cool. As you can tell we only use the rooms to sleep and shower in, so all that was perfect. Clean sheets, beds with a plethora of pillows, showers, towels, balcony with chairs and a view of the ocean, and a desk. Everything you need plus some. Nothing old and busted. Really couldn't ask for more. There is beach access to walk along the beach if you like, otherwise Kauai is the most beautiful island of the chain and thank goodness there are no big cities and few people on the island. Enjoy the stay, relax and have fun!"

  • Convenient location!

"Great location, less than 15 minutes to the airport and convenient, equi-distant location in terms of other activities on the island. We didn't want to stay in Princeville because it would have been too far from Waimea Canyon, and we didn't want to stay in Poipu because it would have been too far from the North Shore...voila! Kailua Beach Resort. Room was a standard hotel room, clean, and had a fantastic view of the pool/palm trees/landscaping. Mini fridge came in handy. Beach is unswimmable (which we knew) and lots of little kids at the pool. If you are looking for a quiet resort experience and plan to stay on the grounds the whole time, then this would NOT be the place for you. However, if you just need a comfortable and convenient base camp (like we did), then it fits the bill perfectly. Resort had more amenities than I thought (gym, restaurants), but we didn't take advantage of them since we were always out doing other things. Actually, I take that back; we did have Happy Hour one day from 5-7pm at the lobby restaurant, Shutters. Quick drive to Walmart to pick up necessities (7 mins) as well as to Kapaa for awesome breakfast at Java Kai. Kapaa in general was such a cute town a little drive away - two favorite restaurants were Verde (fish tacos) and Hukilau Lanai (fresh, local, original food). All in all, this hotel room suited our needs well."

Lihue Travel Tips

Lihue Vacation Rentals Provide Access to Kauai

When you stay at Lihue vacation rentals, you are staying in the county seat of the garden island. Served by Lihue Airport, the area is a great place to stay if you want the convenience of commerce with the opportunity to explore undisturbed nature. In town you'll find big-box retailers like Wal-Mart and Costco, making it easy to buy the things you forgot to pack. Day trips to the surrounding areas let you escape the bustle of the industrial center, and you can enjoy secluded white beaches, mountain trails, and river tours.

Lihue Beach Rentals Let You Live Like a Local

Why spend your time cramped in a hotel room at a crowded beach when you can enjoy the local life? With Lihue beach rentals, you get more space, multiple bedrooms, fully equipped kitchens, and all the amenities of home. Depending on the property, you can enjoy flat-panel TVs, DVD players, Jacuzzi tubs, private decks, balconies, and on-site washers and dryers. Vacation rentals make it easy to travel with families because kids can have a separate room. Enjoy grilling on the lanai while the kids take their morning naps. At night, consider a sunset sail or a dinner cruise.

Explore History With Kauai Travel

Through Kauai travel, you'll find many places to explore, including historical attractions. Lihue developed as a result of the sugar industry, and the island still hosts several operational plantations. You can tour the Kilohana plantation by horse-drawn carriage or the narrow gauge railroad installed for tourists before feasting at a traditional Hawaiian luau. In town you'll find the Kuaui Museum, a place filled with the rich cultural history of the island. If you're traveling with kids, plan a trip to one of the ancient Hawaiian temples in the nearby surrounding areas.
