  • Great Quiet Location

"The listing and photos accurately reflect the condo, although the hardwoods have been replaced with tile. It's a spacious place and we enjoyed using it as our home base. Clean and well kept including the grounds. the bluff views were amazing and there's a great area right below the condo (steep hike) with a cave and beautiful water and lava rocks (no sandy beach) we enjoyed that area. It was our first time to Kauai and I would only wanted to stay on the North shore, Hanelei is adorable and all of the beaches around (Anini, Ke'e, Tunnels, Hanalei, Haena )are to die for. You do feel a little "disconnected" to things because the place is situated in a condo community and having to drive to the beach, but the upside to that is that you've got a peaceful home base away from crowds. We would definitley stay here again! I really have no complaints, the large washer and dryer was a nice thing to have and I liked the bottom location. The balcony on the third floors might provide more a view (although you have a great view!) it could be very hot as you'd be totally exposed to the sun, I think that might even be the case on the 2nd floor balcony. It was really nice to just step out he sliding glass door and walk to the bluff's edge to catch the sunset or see the amazing water/reefs below. We did see a turtle in the cave when we went right before dusk one evening. I wish there would have been one more couch (there was definitely room), but that's really it! Family with older teens I think would enjoy this most."

  • Truly magnificent property - exactly what we were looking for!

"Where do I start? This house is just as advertised...but better! The location is outstanding....we enjoyed almost every meal outside on the lanai and spent a lot of time relaxing on the lanai and watching the waves and palm trees. Almost every room in the house has jalousie windows and oscillating or ceiling fans so the air flow throughout the house keeps things very comfortable. This is a true family cabin....not fancy but cozy and oozing with charm. The appliances in the kitchen are older but they worked fine. There is a public beach access along the property line but a thick hedge shields the house from the very few people who walked to and from the beach. The other side of the property is similarly thickly hedged. Although there is large house behind the property, it doesn't really create any privacy issues since all the Hale Kilo I'a rooms are oriented toward the beach and there was a tall hedge shielding Hale Kilo I'a from the house behind. The beach is beautiful and walkable. It is close to several fantastic swimming and snorkeling locations, although the waves and currents can be pretty strong on the north end of the island during the winter, so we found that the south end beaches were a bit more conducive to swimming and snorkeling while we were there. The house had puzzles, movies, games (indoor and out), beach equipment, and lots more to help you take maximum advantage of the location. The house felt very secure. There were dead bolts on the doors and an additional secure location inside for valuables. The master bedroom was very comfortable and the linens were of high quality. The cell service and the password-protected wi-fi worked perfectly, as did the electronic equipment in the house. The only sounds we heard most of the time were the trees and the waves....it was perfect. The property is located at the north end of the island, so it is at least 2 hrs drive around to Polihale State Park or Waimea Canyon. We explored the entire island pretty thoroughly during our stay. We particularly enjoyed the drive up to and beyond Waimea Canyon State Park, Kipu Ranch (ATV adventure), snorkeling at Poipu Beach Park, exploring Anini Beach and Polihale State Park, Grove Farm Museum in Lihue, Kilauea Lighthouse, Limahuli Gardens, Spouting Horn, etc. We had a helicopter tour scheduled for our last day but it was unfortunately cancelled due to wind, so that is on the top of our list for our next trip to Kauai. We would stay at this house again in a heartbeat!"

  • Good value

"This was a decent value. The condo is well equipped - towels, kitchenware, furnishings, etc. The location is great - in Princeville located on a bluff over the ocean. This unit has some partial ocean views and feels very private. Parking is good. The unit has no A/C - has a couple standing fans and a ceiling fan but because of the configuration of the unit, it gets very little cross-breeze through the room and therefore - when it's muggy and hot - stays muggy and hot. However, the place is quite nice, good furnishings and lots of details. I would probably stay here again."

  • Paradise and Jimmy

"We spent a week with Dawn at Red Ginger and it was better than any medicine! I'd had a long illness and no place could have soothed my soul like this lovely house and the gorgeous surroundings. We spent many nights on the lanai with a pitcher of something cool and fruity (and just a bit of rum) never tiring of the loveliness all around us. Our days were full of beaches, caves, mountains and much more, but at night we came home to our jungle paradise. The house sits up high and there are incredible views from any window.....and there are windows everywhere. It's furnished with anything you might need or want including a massage chair that my husband and I fell in love with. Then there is Jimmy! He is a sweet little tabby cat that keep watch over his domain. He never bothers you, but is willing to take all the love you're willing to give. He just wouldn't stay in my suitcase when we packed to leave!!! Thank you, Dawn, for letting us share your little slice of heaven."

North Shore Travel Tips

Kauai North Shore Vacation Rentals Offer Beautiful Scenery and Plenty of Opportunity

Whenever the subject of visiting Hawaii arises, you’re sure to hear of the amazing North Shore of Kauai. Kauai North Shore vacation rentals give you breathtaking views, access to local historical villages, and plenty to see and do during your stay here.

Spectacular Scenery near Kauai North Shore Vacation Rentals

Among the renowned natural surroundings on Kauai’s North Shore is the Na Pali Coast. Cliffs along this coast tower 4,000 above sea level and provide great photo opportunities.

When staying in Kauai condos, you may be lucky enough to find a spot along Lumahai Beach, known for the many movies filmed there and beautiful sands many only dream of. The historical settlement of Hanalei is also found in this area, most often a short drive from many Kauai lodging options.

Stay in Kauai Condos and Experience the Na Pali Coast

Many Kauai North Shore vacation rentals are located on the Na Pali coast, which can provide perfect scenery for both a destination beach wedding and a memorable honeymoon. Movie fans love to visit the Honopu Valley, where parts of the famous “King Kong” were filmed. Afterward, you can curl up on the couch in your choice of Kauai condos to watch the original 1976 blockbuster. For a taste of true hula dancing, book your Kauai lodging near Ke ahu a laka Heiau: the site of a famous hula school where many dancers still come to practice their craft.

Step Back in Time at Kauai Lodging in Hanalei

Anyone visiting the original settlement area of Hanalei feels as if they’ve taken a trip back in time. Many Kauai North Shore vacation rentals are found in or near the area, giving you easy access to the surrounding sights and activities available.

You may venture from the Kauai condos to tour one of the wet or dry caves in Hanalei, or even simply visit local shops to find your needed souvenirs. Kauai lodging also gives easy access to Hanalei Bay, Lumahai Beach, Makana Peak, Kee Beach and Waioli Mission House.
