"My husband and I spent the last 5 nights of our honeymoon at Nohonani. We fell in love with the North Shore of Kauai and felt that we were truly able to relax once we arrived at the house.
The expansive property is amazing - lush, very private, and surrounded by beautiful mountains.
The interior of the house was very clean and tastefully decorated. The kitchen was perfect for us as we cooked many of our own meals and enjoyed sitting out on the lanai. The view from the hammock is not to be forgotten! Having a good supply of tupperware was great for leftovers and packing snacks for hiking/beach days.
We were really looking forward to hiking on the Kalalau Trail, so the proximity to Ke'e beach (and the trailhead) was perfect. We lucked out with weather while we were there, with a perfectly sunny day for our time on the trail.
Tunnels beach is also very nearby and a beautiful spot for snorkeling, we were even lucky enough to see a monk seal (at a safe distance). The trip into the town of Hanalei is nice and quick, with lots of shops, a grocery store, and tasty food options.
The only downside, as others have noted - the dogs. We sat outside on our first evening for a beautiful dinner together, only to be serenaded (in surround sound) by the kennels on both sides of the property. As awful as it was, it was actually quite comedic. Throughout our stay, we found that there were long stretches of time during the morning/day that we were able to spend at the house without hearing a peep from the dogs. The evenings were typically the worst for the barking, however at night time we closed all the windows and got the fans going - this kept us cool enough to sleep and kept out any noise from the dogs.
Lastly, we found the bed to be quite creaky and felt pretty unstable - the bed frame may be due for an update!
Overall, we would highly recommend Nohonani for your time in Kauai :)"

"If you love the North shore, this is paradise. Almost to Tunnels Beach, it is nestled in beautiful gardens near the most beautiful beaches on the island. It is private, charming, comfortable, and accessible to any island activity. We had our own quiet beach out front for early morning coffee and long walks. The neighborhood is quiet. The cottage is well- stocked, with everything you can need. Good mattress. But, the best treat is the outdoor shower in the jungle out back. I stayed alone for one week of "me" time. As a couple the second week, it is most romantic!!! Owners easy to work with. No problems with this unit. This is a must. We will definately be back soon to our little love nest!! Leigh, Reno NV"

"this house was perfect for my family--myself, my husband, and our 2 teenage sons. everyone had their own quarters and the common areas are really comfortable. The house is super close to the most beautiful beach. perfect location--close to towns, beach and feels private. i would definitely recommend this house to others. one thing--and this is common to the whole island, from what i could see--there is an abundance of crowing roosters which start crowing VERY early in the AM--i got earplugs and it made a HUGE difference and i would still go back to this island and this house in a heartbeat. aloha!"

"Paradise inside and out. Comfortable and accommodating, this home became our home away from home. Although not on the beach, we found a trail that took us to a special tropical paradise, away from traffic and people. Whether sitting inside with a cup of coffee, or outside with a pina colada, this house afforded comfort at every turn. Interesting architecture set this home apart with rounded rooms, and images of Graham Nash "jamming" with his crew in the rooms, made this a very special place. Would come back in a heartbeat... and we named the baby albatross in the front yard, Graham. Book it. You won't be disappointed."
