"Breathtaking!!! This home and the grounds are magnificent! We were joined on this long awaited vacation with my parents, my brother and his wife, and our three children. My parents stayed in the main house and used the master bedroom. The main house is where we spent much of our time as a family cooking (everything you could possibly need is provided in this kitchen), spending time on the lanai looking out over the rivers, observing the extraordinary landscaping and gorgeous views. We searched the property for different fruits and enjoyed making fresh delicious OJ in the mornings. My husband and our three children stayed in the cottage. They had a portable crib, a pack n' play, a monitor, baby linens, a few toys, a high chair and a booster seat! It was awesome! I was relieved from the stress and expense of having to pack so much stuff for the kids! In addition, they had plenty of beach gear for us to use! My brother and his wife stayed in the birds nest and were very happy. This property was absolutely ideal for our family as it allowed for everyone to be together in one beautiful house but also provided separate sleeping arrangements and we all had our own space whenever we needed it. I highly recommend the Riverhouse, we seriously can't say that enough! Its beauty is one to experience. I'd recommend bringing along some bug spray at night. Those tropical mosquitos can get you. Our family will never forget our time here and we truly hope to return in the near future. We were beyond thrilled. Thank you!!!!"

  • Lovely and peaceful

"A great place to stay for my husband, toddler and myself. Walking distance to Tunnels Beach was a plus since the parking there is so busy yet the snorkeling was great; we'd just take turns wandering over for a bit while our toddler napped. =) Also just down the road from gorgeous Limahuli Gardens and Ke'e Beach with the start of the trail along the Napali Coast! With a toddler in a backpack, we only made it 2 miles in to the first beach, but it was loads of fun with dramatic views! An easy drive in to Hanalei for groceries, farmer's market, and restaurants. For others traveling with a little one, the tree house is up a good # of stairs (fine for us, but it meant a lot of carrying our little one up and down or carefully monitoring his steps when we'd come and go). Beautiful wood floors have the advantage of being easy to wipe or sweep up when there are milk spills or sand tracked into the house. Views are lovely from all the windows and the neighborhood is quiet. (That's good, because the house has no AC and we kept the screened blinds open almost all the time, so it's easy to hear neighbors, or to be heard - worked hard to keep the 22-month-old quiet-ish when he'd wake up happy and jet-lagged at 5:30 am!) With the ceiling fans, the temp it was great for us - it still felt like the tropics instead of being locked away in a temp-controlled hotel room, but comfortable. The tree house is at the back of the property behind a larger house that's rented out, but we felt like we had plenty of privacy. I called Jeff once as we were trying to find the place and emailed once about where to take out trash and he was immediately available to answer questions and helpful. I'd highly recommend this place!"

  • Amazing location on Kauai, with beach access and lush greenery all around

"My family and I had a wonderful stay at this wonderful house in Kauai. It is located in the best part of the island - the north shore, just past Hanalei Bay - near an awesome swimming & snorkeling beach called Tunnels. The area is remote (not a lot of traffic), and there are palm trees everywhere - the property is very lush, and has a huge lawn for football, soccer, etc. There are some nice hiking trails nearby, and Hanalei Bay is a great place for surfing - it has great long waves. We stayed with a large family: 6 adults and 2 kids. The house is very spacious and can fit many people - the four bedrooms are very comfy (the two "master" bedrooms have amazing views of the ocean), the kitchen is huge, and the family room is great - has a good lounging area, TV, and large dining table. The lanai (porch/deck) is also very large, has beautiful views of the ocean and mountains, and is great to lounge and dine on. There is a garage that fits two large cars. The house also comes equipped with pretty much everything you need. There's a BBQ downstairs, tubs of snorkel gear (flippers, masks, water shoes), tubs with beach toys for kids, inflatable tubes, volleyball/football/soccer balls, beach chairs, beach umbrellas, bicycles, boogie boards, one small surf board, and even TONS of board games! You really could not ask for more. Diane (the owner) is extremely responsive and very nice and helpful. That goes a long way in my book when dealing with booking something far away. I highly recommend this house - we had such a great time, and would love to come back soon!"

  • Amazing house in a fantastic location

"Rating Details: I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was very happy with the location. The vacation rental was spotless. The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a fabulous experience in this house! Our family of 5 had an amazing time on Kaua'i and the house played a large part in that. The lanai was our favorite place to hang out - read, play games, have coffee, etc. It was cool and comfortable and you could easily see the windsurfers and kite boarders going by out on the ocean. There is a bit of a walk to the beach, and to get to a swimmer/snorkel friendly area, you have to walk a bit further. But, it is definitely worth it. Being able to snorkel at Tunnels beach without having to worry about parking is a definite treat. And, the sunsets are magnificent! We saw a bride and groom having their pictures taken one night while we were there. :) We would definitely return to this house - Can't wait to get back to Kaua'i!!"

Haena Travel Tips

Find Paradise With Haena Vacation Rentals

Haena vacation rentals are the accommodations to consider when you want a beautiful setting off the beaten path. Located on the northern part of the garden island of Kauai, Haena places you minutes from famous beaches. Lumahai Beach was the setting for South Pacific. Nearby Moloaa Bay and its beach provided the location for the pilot for Gilligan's Island. Other beaches in the area offering waterfront rental properties are Tunnels, Cannons, and Ke'e. From cottages to bungalows and from Mediterranean-style houses to condos, you can find a vacation rental with the space you need to enjoy your trip.

Relax at Haena Beach Rentals

When you stay at Haena beach rentals, you can enjoy sparkling blue water and mountains covered in tropical forests. Properties with lanais let you enjoy a quiet moment as the sun rises or sets. Some rentals include balconies with Jacuzzis or hot tubs. While many properties feature off-road privacy, you'll find modern amenities like TVs and WiFi. Hanalei Town, offering restaurants, shopping, and entertainment, is minutes away. Vacation rentals in Haena give you more space than you'd get at a hotel. Some properties have private access to the beach, which means you won't have to maneuver through a crowd to find a good place to enjoy the sand.

Kauai Travel Connects You to Nature

Kauai travel provides many opportunities to explore nature. Land lovers can enjoy the tropical setting by hiking, biking, or horseback riding. Trails like Kalalau Trail follow routes with ocean views. Waterfalls and serene pools provide beautiful places to pause for a moment of relaxation and rest. Kayaking, sailing, snorkeling, and diving bring you up close to Kauai's aquatic life, which can include dolphins and whales. Helicopter tours let you see the botanical settings from an aerial view.
