  • A shining gem of a home. Stop looking....this is the place!

"Where to start....this place exceeded our expectations by a long shot. The photos and virtual tour make it look incredible but once you are there it is much more special. Christine and her family have thought of every detail and more. The location is right in front of one of the best snorkeling spots we found on the North Shore. We snorkeled with sea turtles almost every day and views of breaching humpback whales were a common occurrence while sipping our coffee on the deck. It's an amazing property and well designed. My husband and I were there with our 6 year old to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and this beautiful home played a huge part in our magical trip. We enjoyed picking up fresh fish in Hanalei at the Dolphin Fish Market and cooking dinner on the grill most nights. Who would want to eat out all the time when you can cook in this beautiful and fully equipped kitchen and dine overlooking the rainbows and whales! The bathrooms are fully equipped, even with toiletry essentials (toothbrushes, razors, q-tips, lotions, etc). They thought of every detail to premeditate our needs. We brought our own snorkel gear, but the house is fully equipped with lots of snorkel gear, quite a few boogie boards, two sea kayaks, sand toys (we donated more), beach chairs, straw beach mats, a cooler and a beach umbrella. We only used the two master suites on the main level and both of the beds were very comfortable. They do offer wifi, and it worked perfectly to check in with work while we were there. We enjoyed being able to sit in the hot tub when it was drizzling out and our son really enjoyed his job of feeding the fish each day. The location is superb! The beach is beautiful, clear clean water with a break off of shore offering a protected reef for snorkeling....even when the seas are rough. It's a short drive to Tunnels and Ke'ke beaches as well as the trailhead for the Napali trail. It's also walking distance (by road or beach) to a nearby coffee shop. The drive into Hanalei snakes along the coastline and offers beautiful views. Hanalei is a quaint beach town but it's nice to fall asleep and wake up to the sounds of the ocean in Haena. No roosters! What else can I say but we are so thankful and feel so blessed that Christine and her family share this home with us travelers. Many, many Mahalos! We will dream of the day when we can return and we will cherish the memories we made here forever! Mahalo!"

  • Ideal place in wonderful location

"This studio had everything we needed in a tidy, spacious, private location. We were in Kauai for a wedding, most of our friends rented larger 4 bedrooms homes. We feel so lucky to have had this lovely place to ourselves. Kitchenette ideal for breakfast and simple meals for two people. Everything was sparkling clean and very well kept. Nice small touches such as a cooler and beach chairs for the beach right across the street. Could not ask for anything more. We would highly recommend this property."

  • Great Location

"Great location, great lawn area for the kids, not to mention the beach! Far enough away from the crowded tunnels access, but a very short walk to tunnels...better yet, just enjoy the beach/snorkeling in front without anyone around!"

  • Truly magnificent property - exactly what we were looking for!

"Where do I start? This house is just as advertised...but better! The location is outstanding....we enjoyed almost every meal outside on the lanai and spent a lot of time relaxing on the lanai and watching the waves and palm trees. Almost every room in the house has jalousie windows and oscillating or ceiling fans so the air flow throughout the house keeps things very comfortable. This is a true family cabin....not fancy but cozy and oozing with charm. The appliances in the kitchen are older but they worked fine. There is a public beach access along the property line but a thick hedge shields the house from the very few people who walked to and from the beach. The other side of the property is similarly thickly hedged. Although there is large house behind the property, it doesn't really create any privacy issues since all the Hale Kilo I'a rooms are oriented toward the beach and there was a tall hedge shielding Hale Kilo I'a from the house behind. The beach is beautiful and walkable. It is close to several fantastic swimming and snorkeling locations, although the waves and currents can be pretty strong on the north end of the island during the winter, so we found that the south end beaches were a bit more conducive to swimming and snorkeling while we were there. The house had puzzles, movies, games (indoor and out), beach equipment, and lots more to help you take maximum advantage of the location. The house felt very secure. There were dead bolts on the doors and an additional secure location inside for valuables. The master bedroom was very comfortable and the linens were of high quality. The cell service and the password-protected wi-fi worked perfectly, as did the electronic equipment in the house. The only sounds we heard most of the time were the trees and the waves....it was perfect. The property is located at the north end of the island, so it is at least 2 hrs drive around to Polihale State Park or Waimea Canyon. We explored the entire island pretty thoroughly during our stay. We particularly enjoyed the drive up to and beyond Waimea Canyon State Park, Kipu Ranch (ATV adventure), snorkeling at Poipu Beach Park, exploring Anini Beach and Polihale State Park, Grove Farm Museum in Lihue, Kilauea Lighthouse, Limahuli Gardens, Spouting Horn, etc. We had a helicopter tour scheduled for our last day but it was unfortunately cancelled due to wind, so that is on the top of our list for our next trip to Kauai. We would stay at this house again in a heartbeat!"

Haena Travel Tips

Find Paradise With Haena Vacation Rentals

Haena vacation rentals are the accommodations to consider when you want a beautiful setting off the beaten path. Located on the northern part of the garden island of Kauai, Haena places you minutes from famous beaches. Lumahai Beach was the setting for South Pacific. Nearby Moloaa Bay and its beach provided the location for the pilot for Gilligan's Island. Other beaches in the area offering waterfront rental properties are Tunnels, Cannons, and Ke'e. From cottages to bungalows and from Mediterranean-style houses to condos, you can find a vacation rental with the space you need to enjoy your trip.

Relax at Haena Beach Rentals

When you stay at Haena beach rentals, you can enjoy sparkling blue water and mountains covered in tropical forests. Properties with lanais let you enjoy a quiet moment as the sun rises or sets. Some rentals include balconies with Jacuzzis or hot tubs. While many properties feature off-road privacy, you'll find modern amenities like TVs and WiFi. Hanalei Town, offering restaurants, shopping, and entertainment, is minutes away. Vacation rentals in Haena give you more space than you'd get at a hotel. Some properties have private access to the beach, which means you won't have to maneuver through a crowd to find a good place to enjoy the sand.

Kauai Travel Connects You to Nature

Kauai travel provides many opportunities to explore nature. Land lovers can enjoy the tropical setting by hiking, biking, or horseback riding. Trails like Kalalau Trail follow routes with ocean views. Waterfalls and serene pools provide beautiful places to pause for a moment of relaxation and rest. Kayaking, sailing, snorkeling, and diving bring you up close to Kauai's aquatic life, which can include dolphins and whales. Helicopter tours let you see the botanical settings from an aerial view.
