"From the moment you drive through the gate this property does not disappoint. The yard is lush and spacious, loads of room for all to run around. I can only imagine what it is like when flowers are in season. The house is open concept and very roomy. Having two separate bedroom wings is beneficial. Favorite shower? The outdoor one was a HUGE hit with everyone! Upper & lower decks were a bonus. So many beach toys, chairs & mats provided. Steps to a fantastic beach. We even managed to snorkel there in the winter. The waves & riptides had the lifeguards close the beaches for swimming on a few days but the house and grounds were so lovely we didn't care. We would highly recommend this property especially in the warmer months."

"Auntie's Cottage was absolutely perfect!!! We couldn't have picked a better place to stay in Kauai - it's incredible. It's charming and close to all the greatest spots. The cottage is not far from Tunnels beach, and just a short drive to the village where you'll find everything you need (shopping, restaurants and markets). Having this been our first time to Kauai, and not knowing what to expect, we were so happy that we chose Auntie's Cottage. It was exactly what it promised. It's private, (literally) across from the beach and cozy. We can't wait to come back and visit!"

  • A shining gem of a home. Stop looking....this is the place!

"Where to start....this place exceeded our expectations by a long shot. The photos and virtual tour make it look incredible but once you are there it is much more special. Christine and her family have thought of every detail and more. The location is right in front of one of the best snorkeling spots we found on the North Shore. We snorkeled with sea turtles almost every day and views of breaching humpback whales were a common occurrence while sipping our coffee on the deck. It's an amazing property and well designed. My husband and I were there with our 6 year old to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and this beautiful home played a huge part in our magical trip. We enjoyed picking up fresh fish in Hanalei at the Dolphin Fish Market and cooking dinner on the grill most nights. Who would want to eat out all the time when you can cook in this beautiful and fully equipped kitchen and dine overlooking the rainbows and whales! The bathrooms are fully equipped, even with toiletry essentials (toothbrushes, razors, q-tips, lotions, etc). They thought of every detail to premeditate our needs. We brought our own snorkel gear, but the house is fully equipped with lots of snorkel gear, quite a few boogie boards, two sea kayaks, sand toys (we donated more), beach chairs, straw beach mats, a cooler and a beach umbrella. We only used the two master suites on the main level and both of the beds were very comfortable. They do offer wifi, and it worked perfectly to check in with work while we were there. We enjoyed being able to sit in the hot tub when it was drizzling out and our son really enjoyed his job of feeding the fish each day. The location is superb! The beach is beautiful, clear clean water with a break off of shore offering a protected reef for snorkeling....even when the seas are rough. It's a short drive to Tunnels and Ke'ke beaches as well as the trailhead for the Napali trail. It's also walking distance (by road or beach) to a nearby coffee shop. The drive into Hanalei snakes along the coastline and offers beautiful views. Hanalei is a quaint beach town but it's nice to fall asleep and wake up to the sounds of the ocean in Haena. No roosters! What else can I say but we are so thankful and feel so blessed that Christine and her family share this home with us travelers. Many, many Mahalos! We will dream of the day when we can return and we will cherish the memories we made here forever! Mahalo!"

  • Very Pleasant Experience

"This place is all about location: right on the ocean; somewhat isolated on the North Shore of Kauai, with very little beach activity close by. It's perfect for sitting on the sand and contemplating the waves and crabs scuttling back and forth. You may or may not be able to swim in the ocean right outside (the shack provides some beach toys and chairs), depends on the conditions. The furnishings are perfectly fine and abundant and as advertised; the WIFI worked properly; there were plenty of portable fans in case it got hot; and the washer and dryer are good quality; the bed was comfortable and the towels were good quality, including beach towels. The property was well maintained and clean, especially when you consider you're right on the ocean. The contact was responsive and very pleasant during the booking process, but we had no reason to contact anyone during our stay. I would recommend this property to anyone looking to get away from it all. We enjoyed dining in Hanalei (about 10 minutes south) and the beach park a few miles north. There's also a coffee shop within walking distance, although we normally had our own. I would recommend stocking up on food in Kapa'a (Safeway or Foodland) since it's less expensive and better selection; but there are stores (including a natural food store) in Hanalei. I would give five starts if it weren't so expensive."
