  • Just what we needed (and more)!

"My husband and I just returned from a two-week stay in this lovely home and we would highly recommend it. Due to a prior negative review, the owner is replacing the bed in the master bedroom and, in fact, if our schedules could have aligned, it would have been delivered during our stay. However, we really found no need for a replacement and found the existing bed to be fine. This home is situated in a fantastic area if you are looking for peace, relaxation, beauty, water sports, hiking, and hanging out on gorgeous beaches during your vacation. While the house is located in a quiet area, you are close to many activities you can enjoy. The hosurrounded by beautiful foliage in the back and on the sides. There is a large lawn out front with three stately pine trees along the road. There is a large lanai in the back that provides plenty of relaxing and entertaining space, and you have a view of the tropical landscaping and natural greenery. The home was very clean and we didn't find one thing that wasn't in proper working order. While we aren't gourmet cooks by any means (and definitely not while on vacation), we found everything we could possibly need in the kitchen, plenty of towels and linens, and supplies for laundry and cleaning when necessary. The laundry room has the most extensive supply of beach necessities we have ever seen and we have traveled to Hawaii somewhere between 10-15 times. We always rent a house or condo. There are beach chairs, umbrella, inner tubes, kids toys, water shoes for the rough, rocky areas and more. Unfortunately for us, Kauai was having a very hot summer (per the locals who were complaining about the heat) and it took some adjusting to the heat and humidity. There is no A/C but, most likely, you wouldn't need it under normal circumstances. I don't believe there are very few homes in the area which have A/C, because it is usually unnecessary. The two weeks we were there, the temperatures were high and the trade winds were low, so that was our only negative in our trip. This is something, of course, NO ONE has control over. Although, we did not even mention the heat to Beaux, the property manager, she came by and left four brand-new fans to add to the ones already supplied in the home. In addition to portable fans, every bedroom and the living room have ceiling fans. (To be continued)..."

  • Close to Ke'e Beach

"My sister and I and our spouses stayed in this house for a week. We are senior citizens so I can attest to the comfort of this house. You will have to carry your suitcases to the 2nd floor if you are staying up there, but there are 2 BRs on the bottom floor as well. Being from Mississippi, we were worried about no A/C, but we opened the windows and turned on the fans and we were fine. We liked having our own bathroom and I must say that all of the bathrooms were really first class. Kitchen was top notch. Only thing missing was an electric hand mixer but we made do with what they had. This house is close to Ke'e beach -- 2 miles down the road. It is the best beach for snorkeling -- but get there early. We left the house at 8:15 and were there just in the nick of time to get a parking place in the lot, but still a walk to the beach. The house is a 30 second walk to the Kapuhi beach. We would set out our chairs at night on the sand and watch the sunsets. It was beautiful."

  • Great spot, great location.

"We travel to Kauai every summer & always stay in Haena. We had a wonderful stay at the Ikena Makana. The house was very clean and fresh. We really enjoyed the simple, yet somewhat contemporary feel. The views of the Bali Hai Mountain and waterfall from the back deck is incredible! It took us about 5 minutes to walk to the beach in front, which was right around the point from the main Tunnels area, WOW, that section of the beach is magical!!! We saw monk seals almost every afternoon and swam with turtles twice! Thank you so much to the owners of this home for making our Kauai holiday so special! We will be back and hope to rent from you all again! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!"

  • A shining gem of a home. Stop looking....this is the place!

"Where to start....this place exceeded our expectations by a long shot. The photos and virtual tour make it look incredible but once you are there it is much more special. Christine and her family have thought of every detail and more. The location is right in front of one of the best snorkeling spots we found on the North Shore. We snorkeled with sea turtles almost every day and views of breaching humpback whales were a common occurrence while sipping our coffee on the deck. It's an amazing property and well designed. My husband and I were there with our 6 year old to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and this beautiful home played a huge part in our magical trip. We enjoyed picking up fresh fish in Hanalei at the Dolphin Fish Market and cooking dinner on the grill most nights. Who would want to eat out all the time when you can cook in this beautiful and fully equipped kitchen and dine overlooking the rainbows and whales! The bathrooms are fully equipped, even with toiletry essentials (toothbrushes, razors, q-tips, lotions, etc). They thought of every detail to premeditate our needs. We brought our own snorkel gear, but the house is fully equipped with lots of snorkel gear, quite a few boogie boards, two sea kayaks, sand toys (we donated more), beach chairs, straw beach mats, a cooler and a beach umbrella. We only used the two master suites on the main level and both of the beds were very comfortable. They do offer wifi, and it worked perfectly to check in with work while we were there. We enjoyed being able to sit in the hot tub when it was drizzling out and our son really enjoyed his job of feeding the fish each day. The location is superb! The beach is beautiful, clear clean water with a break off of shore offering a protected reef for snorkeling....even when the seas are rough. It's a short drive to Tunnels and Ke'ke beaches as well as the trailhead for the Napali trail. It's also walking distance (by road or beach) to a nearby coffee shop. The drive into Hanalei snakes along the coastline and offers beautiful views. Hanalei is a quaint beach town but it's nice to fall asleep and wake up to the sounds of the ocean in Haena. No roosters! What else can I say but we are so thankful and feel so blessed that Christine and her family share this home with us travelers. Many, many Mahalos! We will dream of the day when we can return and we will cherish the memories we made here forever! Mahalo!"

Haena Travel Tips

Find Paradise With Haena Vacation Rentals

Haena vacation rentals are the accommodations to consider when you want a beautiful setting off the beaten path. Located on the northern part of the garden island of Kauai, Haena places you minutes from famous beaches. Lumahai Beach was the setting for South Pacific. Nearby Moloaa Bay and its beach provided the location for the pilot for Gilligan's Island. Other beaches in the area offering waterfront rental properties are Tunnels, Cannons, and Ke'e. From cottages to bungalows and from Mediterranean-style houses to condos, you can find a vacation rental with the space you need to enjoy your trip.

Relax at Haena Beach Rentals

When you stay at Haena beach rentals, you can enjoy sparkling blue water and mountains covered in tropical forests. Properties with lanais let you enjoy a quiet moment as the sun rises or sets. Some rentals include balconies with Jacuzzis or hot tubs. While many properties feature off-road privacy, you'll find modern amenities like TVs and WiFi. Hanalei Town, offering restaurants, shopping, and entertainment, is minutes away. Vacation rentals in Haena give you more space than you'd get at a hotel. Some properties have private access to the beach, which means you won't have to maneuver through a crowd to find a good place to enjoy the sand.

Kauai Travel Connects You to Nature

Kauai travel provides many opportunities to explore nature. Land lovers can enjoy the tropical setting by hiking, biking, or horseback riding. Trails like Kalalau Trail follow routes with ocean views. Waterfalls and serene pools provide beautiful places to pause for a moment of relaxation and rest. Kayaking, sailing, snorkeling, and diving bring you up close to Kauai's aquatic life, which can include dolphins and whales. Helicopter tours let you see the botanical settings from an aerial view.
