  • Our favorite place ever...

"We finally decided to vacation in Haena over Poipu a few years ago, and never looked back. We love Haena, and we love Kaulana Naue. For us, it's perfect. The area is pristine, low key, unassuming and spectacular. There's a raw beauty and a relaxed attitude here that keeps bringing us back. And the home is perfect, from the location to the size, layout, decor and furnishings. Leila keeps the place in great shape and well outfitted, which is a good thing because once you set foot in Haena and in this home, there's no reason to go anywhere. The layout provides plenty of privacy when needed, but you will find yourself together - either at the beach, on the deck, or in the open kitchen/living area. It's awesome, and it feels like home from the minute you get there. We're addicted to this place, and literally count the days until we get back. Highly recommended for families looking to check out and decompress!"

  • Could have been perfect

"We just got back from staying at this house. The location on the North Shore was great and the house was pristine. It is well stocked and the supply room has chairs, snorkeling equipment, boogie boards and shoes to walk on the lava flats. My only negative comment and the reason why I could not give the location five stars is that the internet was horrendous. The speed was less than .25 MB/sec. I could not remotely access my office. Living on the east coast, one of the reasons why I like to vacation west is that the time change allows me to get up very early and work several hours before I start the day. This was impossible and unfortunately, like most people, my business requires a few hours of work per day. What was interesting is that the house had Cable TV. I called the cable company and they stated that they offered speeds of up to 50 MB/sec. I found it odd that a multi-million dollar house would have such terrible internet in this day and age. We were at the house for one week and we had 4 good days of weather. I would come back in the early summer for better weather. The water temperature was about 75 degrees when we snorkeled."

  • Can't wait to come back

"We loved our week in the Mermaid house and felt right at home. After a busy week of adventuring on the South/West side of the island we sunk right in to the cozy North. The beaches are amazing and we swam with the magical turtles every day whether it was at Tunnels or right out front at Haena Beach (which has AMAZING snorkeling when the waves calm themselves). Our kids (12 and 6) loved lounging on the couches and looking at all the treasures in the house. My youngest talked about Peggy as if they were long friends. If you are up for it a three hour ramble will take you to the foot of the Napali and back. Sunrise is the perfect time to do this so you can watch the surfers waking up and snaking out across the reefs to get to their morning waves. The local birds are more than happy to ensure you wake up in time to greet the sun :). We didn't go into town much so can't speak to the civilization in the area but the people we met on the beach were always so lovely and happy to share a story or two! We hiked the Napali Trail to the first beach then turned inland to find the waterfall. It was BEAUTIFUL. Our kids are seasoned backcountry hikers so managed very well but its a tougher trail with many stream crossings and challenging trail in places. We will definitely be back to this lovely home and island!"

  • Great place to stay on the north shore

"The teak room was exactly what we were looking for. Very clean, super comfortable bed, big whirlpool tub, great location. The kitchen was small, but well organized and had everything need to make a great meal. The outdoor shower is a great option for coming home full of sand from the beach and not tracking it throughout the house. We used the surf board and beach umbrellas a lot. It was great to have access to so much outdoor toys at the house. The road was quiet and there was very little noise from the unit above. Highly recommended this property. We would stay here again."
