"We stayed at Hula Hale at the end of June with our daughter and son-in-law. The home is charming, fully stocked, and private. The location is lovely for walks and beach access. I read three books sitting on the large wrap-around deck. The drive to the small village of Hanalei is about 15-20 minutes. We had numerous adventures by helicopter, catamaran, and kayak - all readily available near Hula Hale, a paradise in paradise."

  • Good find

"We were a party of 2 families for 12 days (4 adults and 3 kids). This is such a great location. We have been to Kauai twice before and love the quiet and beautifully lush North Shore. This rental is truly a very short, easy walk to some gorgeous and unpopulated beaches. If you plan on spending lots of time at the beach and can't afford to stay right on the beach, this house is worth checking out. The yard is very private and is like having your own botanical garden, which is great for kids and adults. This yard is certainly a bonus and is bigger than is shown in the photos. We also very much enjoyed the outdoor shower, especially after a day at the beach (some towel hooks would have been appreciated). The upstairs is an open floor plan and has good deck space that overlooks the private yard with mature island flowers (beautiful!) and plants and palm trees. The upstairs gets plenty of natural light and has a pretty good kitchen. We also appreciated the separate room for the washer and dryer downstairs. This house had plenty of space for all of us. There were a couple minor issues that the owner was very responsive to, and we felt taken care of. Thank you Joanna! We would like to stay here again."

  • Ideal place in wonderful location

"This studio had everything we needed in a tidy, spacious, private location. We were in Kauai for a wedding, most of our friends rented larger 4 bedrooms homes. We feel so lucky to have had this lovely place to ourselves. Kitchenette ideal for breakfast and simple meals for two people. Everything was sparkling clean and very well kept. Nice small touches such as a cooler and beach chairs for the beach right across the street. Could not ask for anything more. We would highly recommend this property."

  • Can't wait to come back

"We loved our week in the Mermaid house and felt right at home. After a busy week of adventuring on the South/West side of the island we sunk right in to the cozy North. The beaches are amazing and we swam with the magical turtles every day whether it was at Tunnels or right out front at Haena Beach (which has AMAZING snorkeling when the waves calm themselves). Our kids (12 and 6) loved lounging on the couches and looking at all the treasures in the house. My youngest talked about Peggy as if they were long friends. If you are up for it a three hour ramble will take you to the foot of the Napali and back. Sunrise is the perfect time to do this so you can watch the surfers waking up and snaking out across the reefs to get to their morning waves. The local birds are more than happy to ensure you wake up in time to greet the sun :). We didn't go into town much so can't speak to the civilization in the area but the people we met on the beach were always so lovely and happy to share a story or two! We hiked the Napali Trail to the first beach then turned inland to find the waterfall. It was BEAUTIFUL. Our kids are seasoned backcountry hikers so managed very well but its a tougher trail with many stream crossings and challenging trail in places. We will definitely be back to this lovely home and island!"

Haena Travel Tips

Find Paradise With Haena Vacation Rentals

Haena vacation rentals are the accommodations to consider when you want a beautiful setting off the beaten path. Located on the northern part of the garden island of Kauai, Haena places you minutes from famous beaches. Lumahai Beach was the setting for South Pacific. Nearby Moloaa Bay and its beach provided the location for the pilot for Gilligan's Island. Other beaches in the area offering waterfront rental properties are Tunnels, Cannons, and Ke'e. From cottages to bungalows and from Mediterranean-style houses to condos, you can find a vacation rental with the space you need to enjoy your trip.

Relax at Haena Beach Rentals

When you stay at Haena beach rentals, you can enjoy sparkling blue water and mountains covered in tropical forests. Properties with lanais let you enjoy a quiet moment as the sun rises or sets. Some rentals include balconies with Jacuzzis or hot tubs. While many properties feature off-road privacy, you'll find modern amenities like TVs and WiFi. Hanalei Town, offering restaurants, shopping, and entertainment, is minutes away. Vacation rentals in Haena give you more space than you'd get at a hotel. Some properties have private access to the beach, which means you won't have to maneuver through a crowd to find a good place to enjoy the sand.

Kauai Travel Connects You to Nature

Kauai travel provides many opportunities to explore nature. Land lovers can enjoy the tropical setting by hiking, biking, or horseback riding. Trails like Kalalau Trail follow routes with ocean views. Waterfalls and serene pools provide beautiful places to pause for a moment of relaxation and rest. Kayaking, sailing, snorkeling, and diving bring you up close to Kauai's aquatic life, which can include dolphins and whales. Helicopter tours let you see the botanical settings from an aerial view.
