  • Beautiful Beach Bungalow

"Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us! Our stay at the Beachcomber house bungalow was felt like an absolute dream and we hope to return soon! First, the location is couldn’t be better. The quiet neighborhood felt very private and cozy. It did not feel like a hotel vacation, but a home away from home. The house was gorgeous and had a lot of character! The high ceilings, skylights, and screened windows allowed us to experience the outdoors while in the comfort of our kauai home. It was only 2 of us on this trip, but overall the house is very spacious. I could comfortably vacation here with a larger group! Maybe next time  The best part was having the beach just a few steps away. This made it really convenient to go have a short walk on the beach, or go there and stay the whole day. We loved to wake up every morning and make coffee and watch the sunrise, and then head out for activities. The house is prepared for beach goers with several beach towels, chairs, umbrellas, and boogie boards. The beach was also never crowded. It was great for reading a book, fishing, or snorkeling! There is also a vacation rental property just a street away. Here there is a restaurant and coffee shop if you are interested in either. The kitchen was also wonderful! It had all the amenities and we cooked several meals during our week long stay! There is also a charcoal grill outside, and a patio to sit and relax after a day of outings or for a home cooked meal. While the house is somewhat remote, Hanalei was only 10 minutes away. We would go there daily for activities, shopping, and restaurants, but always loved returning to our quiet neighborhood in Haena. Also, the Kalalau trail, a beautiful hike, with incredible views of the coast is just a few miles up the road! I could go on and on.. but ultimately, this was the best vacation, and our stay was perfect. Thank you again! We were very sad to leave, but we will definitely be back."

  • Very Pleasant Experience

"This place is all about location: right on the ocean; somewhat isolated on the North Shore of Kauai, with very little beach activity close by. It's perfect for sitting on the sand and contemplating the waves and crabs scuttling back and forth. You may or may not be able to swim in the ocean right outside (the shack provides some beach toys and chairs), depends on the conditions. The furnishings are perfectly fine and abundant and as advertised; the WIFI worked properly; there were plenty of portable fans in case it got hot; and the washer and dryer are good quality; the bed was comfortable and the towels were good quality, including beach towels. The property was well maintained and clean, especially when you consider you're right on the ocean. The contact was responsive and very pleasant during the booking process, but we had no reason to contact anyone during our stay. I would recommend this property to anyone looking to get away from it all. We enjoyed dining in Hanalei (about 10 minutes south) and the beach park a few miles north. There's also a coffee shop within walking distance, although we normally had our own. I would recommend stocking up on food in Kapa'a (Safeway or Foodland) since it's less expensive and better selection; but there are stores (including a natural food store) in Hanalei. I would give five starts if it weren't so expensive."

  • Our favorite place ever...

"We finally decided to vacation in Haena over Poipu a few years ago, and never looked back. We love Haena, and we love Kaulana Naue. For us, it's perfect. The area is pristine, low key, unassuming and spectacular. There's a raw beauty and a relaxed attitude here that keeps bringing us back. And the home is perfect, from the location to the size, layout, decor and furnishings. Leila keeps the place in great shape and well outfitted, which is a good thing because once you set foot in Haena and in this home, there's no reason to go anywhere. The layout provides plenty of privacy when needed, but you will find yourself together - either at the beach, on the deck, or in the open kitchen/living area. It's awesome, and it feels like home from the minute you get there. We're addicted to this place, and literally count the days until we get back. Highly recommended for families looking to check out and decompress!"

  • What A Holiday!

"We stayed in this house for close to 3 weeks and it was magnificent! We were 4 adults and a 7 year old. The house was a perfect size for us, with enough space indoors and/or outdoors to retreat for some quiet time. The property itself is quite breathtaking! With a spectacular view of the mountains from the back yard and other beautiful jungle foliage. At night, it was a real treat to sit outside with the geckos and stargaze of the large lanai! Everyone enjoyed the outdoor shower and tub too! Especially my daughter. The house felt very spacious with it's high ceilings and with the ceiling fans on and the doors open, it never got too hot. Judy has provided extra fans and even two portable air conditioners to cool you off, but we never needed to use any of them. Our beds were quite comfy and bedrooms bright with lots of windows. So many things were provided with the house. We had everything we needed for a day at the beach, in the room at the bottom of the stairs! Boogie boards, chairs, water shoes, towels, and even buckets and toys! The closet in the front room was also loaded with great stuff if you are coming with kids. lots of toys and books, even a playpen (which we didn't need)! There is also a small library of books for the adults too, in the master bedroom and some DVDs in the livingroom! We were also pleasantly surprised by the amount of condiments and coffee in the house. Also, all of the dishes that were provided were perfect! The beach is not so far from the house. A short 7 minute walk over to Tunnels where we could sit and play all day. We even saw several endangered Hawaiian Monk Seals right on the beach, and of course humpbacks jumping out of the ocean in the distance! Beaux, the caretaker, was such a lovely lady! Always ready to help when we needed it (Ie: empty propane tank) and even after a windstorm and power outage one night, she called in the morning to check if we were okay and if there was anything we needed. Overall, it was a fantastic experience! We were all quite thrilled with the house and its beautiful location. We all collectively decided that when we come back to Kauai, we will stay at this house again! Even the neighbours are great! Thanks Judy and Beaux for such a fantastic holiday!! Hope to see you guys again!"
