  • Great spot on the north side of island

"We were very happy with our stay at Barefoot Hideaway. The house was very clean and had just about everything that you would need. The location is beautiful and lush. We appreciated it because it was away from the fuss of resorts and other issues that come with crowds of tourists. We had been warned thru other travel guides that the beaches nearby would be packed and difficult to find parking - we on the other hand found parking in every beach and wonderful places to relax and snorkel. We loved Kauai! One of the only things that we thought would be awesome to have here were bikes! It would have been great to take off in the morning for a ride down to Ke'e beach. Thanks for the great place. We will recommend it to others."

  • Great Location

"Great location, great lawn area for the kids, not to mention the beach! Far enough away from the crowded tunnels access, but a very short walk to tunnels...better yet, just enjoy the beach/snorkeling in front without anyone around!"

  • A shining gem of a home. Stop looking....this is the place!

"Where to start....this place exceeded our expectations by a long shot. The photos and virtual tour make it look incredible but once you are there it is much more special. Christine and her family have thought of every detail and more. The location is right in front of one of the best snorkeling spots we found on the North Shore. We snorkeled with sea turtles almost every day and views of breaching humpback whales were a common occurrence while sipping our coffee on the deck. It's an amazing property and well designed. My husband and I were there with our 6 year old to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and this beautiful home played a huge part in our magical trip. We enjoyed picking up fresh fish in Hanalei at the Dolphin Fish Market and cooking dinner on the grill most nights. Who would want to eat out all the time when you can cook in this beautiful and fully equipped kitchen and dine overlooking the rainbows and whales! The bathrooms are fully equipped, even with toiletry essentials (toothbrushes, razors, q-tips, lotions, etc). They thought of every detail to premeditate our needs. We brought our own snorkel gear, but the house is fully equipped with lots of snorkel gear, quite a few boogie boards, two sea kayaks, sand toys (we donated more), beach chairs, straw beach mats, a cooler and a beach umbrella. We only used the two master suites on the main level and both of the beds were very comfortable. They do offer wifi, and it worked perfectly to check in with work while we were there. We enjoyed being able to sit in the hot tub when it was drizzling out and our son really enjoyed his job of feeding the fish each day. The location is superb! The beach is beautiful, clear clean water with a break off of shore offering a protected reef for snorkeling....even when the seas are rough. It's a short drive to Tunnels and Ke'ke beaches as well as the trailhead for the Napali trail. It's also walking distance (by road or beach) to a nearby coffee shop. The drive into Hanalei snakes along the coastline and offers beautiful views. Hanalei is a quaint beach town but it's nice to fall asleep and wake up to the sounds of the ocean in Haena. No roosters! What else can I say but we are so thankful and feel so blessed that Christine and her family share this home with us travelers. Many, many Mahalos! We will dream of the day when we can return and we will cherish the memories we made here forever! Mahalo!"

  • Great getaway house

"This house is a great way to spend your stay on Kauai. If you want a house that feels like a complete quiet getaway but with all the comforts of home, then this is your place. The house is spacious, comfortable, has a huge lanai for lounging. The landscape is beautiful, and makes you feel very private in between the neighbors. The beach is a short 5 minute walk and Tunnels and the End of the Road is a short car ride or 15 minute walk. The house is located on the most beautiful, and lush part of the island. Hanalei is a short 10-15 minutes beautiful car ride, and has a Big Save for basic supplies (Kapaa has a 24-hour Safeway too for bigger shopping at off-hours), some good restaurants, and great fish market at The Dolphin (which also has some incredibly fresh sushi made fresh at the restaurant- the best I've ever had), Bubba's burgers and great little coffee house with amazing coffee and waffles! Gets busy on the weekends. The owner of the home, Jeff, was great to work with and very responsive and quick to answer phone calls, questions, or emails. That to me is a huge plus when trying to plan a relaxing vacation. Communication was very easy and smooth and he refunded the deposit very promptly. There is a guesthouse on the property which at first I thought would be a problem with privacy and noise, but it turned out to be fine. It was booked for most of our stay and aside from their car going in and out occasionally, we didn't really notice them. They were very quiet. The house is fully equipped with kitchen gear and supplies (including trash bags, dishwasher and laundry soap, bath soap etc), plenty of bath and beach towels, and some beach gear which is left by others but in good shape. No need to rent or buy coolers or beach chairs, or towels. The house was clean and well maintained. I loved feeling like a local, taking walks on the beach and getting coffee at the local coffee house. So much better than being in a cramped hotel room or a condo, which you can hear your neighbors or be staring out the window out at another condo building. None of that here. This house feels like you are submerged into paradise and you get the full experience of the island and the magic it offers."

Haena Travel Tips

Find Paradise With Haena Vacation Rentals

Haena vacation rentals are the accommodations to consider when you want a beautiful setting off the beaten path. Located on the northern part of the garden island of Kauai, Haena places you minutes from famous beaches. Lumahai Beach was the setting for South Pacific. Nearby Moloaa Bay and its beach provided the location for the pilot for Gilligan's Island. Other beaches in the area offering waterfront rental properties are Tunnels, Cannons, and Ke'e. From cottages to bungalows and from Mediterranean-style houses to condos, you can find a vacation rental with the space you need to enjoy your trip.

Relax at Haena Beach Rentals

When you stay at Haena beach rentals, you can enjoy sparkling blue water and mountains covered in tropical forests. Properties with lanais let you enjoy a quiet moment as the sun rises or sets. Some rentals include balconies with Jacuzzis or hot tubs. While many properties feature off-road privacy, you'll find modern amenities like TVs and WiFi. Hanalei Town, offering restaurants, shopping, and entertainment, is minutes away. Vacation rentals in Haena give you more space than you'd get at a hotel. Some properties have private access to the beach, which means you won't have to maneuver through a crowd to find a good place to enjoy the sand.

Kauai Travel Connects You to Nature

Kauai travel provides many opportunities to explore nature. Land lovers can enjoy the tropical setting by hiking, biking, or horseback riding. Trails like Kalalau Trail follow routes with ocean views. Waterfalls and serene pools provide beautiful places to pause for a moment of relaxation and rest. Kayaking, sailing, snorkeling, and diving bring you up close to Kauai's aquatic life, which can include dolphins and whales. Helicopter tours let you see the botanical settings from an aerial view.
