  • Island Hideaway

"Staying here felt so much more luxurious than in a hotel! The grounds are beautiful (giant!), and the fruit in season was absolutely delicious! (we had lemons, grapefruit, and oranges picked fresh) The outdoor kitchen had everything we needed for preparing and eating simple meals (hot plate, toaster oven, gas bbq microwave, fridge, and much more) for my husband and myself. Indoors was a beautiful bathroom, spacious closet with small safe, and king size bed. The location is great for North Shore all the way to Lihue activities, and we didn't mind the drive to the west shore by planning it as a full day activity. We certainly enjoyed our 5 night stay!"

  • North Shore Cottage

"Ken and Chris could not have been more helpful and accommodating. We were thrilled with little corner of paradise. After a very busy day, coming back to the house felt extremely restful. Our only bit of excitement was having my wife find a large centipede in the bathroom. But, if you don't like critters you might want to avoid the tropics. *grins* We give our full endorsement to anyone who wants a comfortable, private place to stay in a gorgeous setting. My main interest was in bird photography. I was able to photograph about 15 species between the beginning of the driveway and the other end of the property. You can see the photos from the island on my flickr.com site. Just look for user - Rons Bird Pictures. Check the folder labeled Kauai."

  • Relaxing hideaway in Kilauea

"My husband and I stayed at Jasmine Nights for three nights in April and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The cottage is a 5 minute drive from Kilauea and a nice, quiet spot to return to after a busy day. The bed was very comfortable, the shower amazing and the kitchen well equipped. Randy and Jill are wonderful hosts and gave us several great ideas of things to see and do. We enjoyed having coffee on the lanai with Nalu every morning. We learned that roosters are everywhere on Kauai and we were grateful for the earplugs. We could have stayed here much longer and would love to come back again."

  • Heavenly Cottage

"Our first experience booking with VRBO, our first visit to Kauai (actually first visit to Hawaii itself), and we couldn't have been happier! The Cottage in the Forest is everything you read in the reviews, and the details on VRBO...and everything you see in the photos shown in the listing! AND MORE! Because when you're there, you add in the fresh wonderful smells of the lush forest, plants, and flowers, as well as the sounds of the birds, rain at night, etc. It was beyond what we could have hoped for. We weren't sure what the road '3 miles back in' would be like...it turned out to be one of the LOVELIEST 3 miles on Kauai! It's a beautiful 'landscaped' garden of a drive...with views of mountains both coming and going, and the road is nicely paved. The personal gated entry/drive to Susan's cottage is equally lovely. The cottage was just perfect for us! We LOVED the comfy cozy feel of it all..yet it was so clean, well-maintained, comfortable bed...all with that 'island feel'.. and had everything we could have needed, and more! We didn't want the 'cold/modern/stiff look or feel of highrise hotels and condos. This cottage is exactly the opposite of that, and exactly the kind of place we pictured for our visit to the "Garden Island" of Kauai! The setting is private, serene, and beautiful. Seeing the lush surroundings, out the floor to ceiling windows everywhere we turned made us feel we were part of the 'scenery'. We had all the slatted windows (high, low and in-between, open every night and never slept better. The claw foot tub and many windows in the bathroom, as well as the outdoor shower, made it easy to slow down, relax, and enjoy the 'island life' while we were there. We spent our days checking out everything we could on Kauai (Helicopter ride to the Na'Pali coast, drive up Waimea Canyon, Poipu Beach, End of the Road (Ke'e Beach, Tunnels, Bali Hai,) the sweetest town...Hanalei ....and though our days were full and non-stop, we looked forward to the evening drive back to the Cottage in the Forest and the peace and quiet we knew was waiting for us. Susan was so wonderful to work with, instant replies, easy booking and payments, and warmly welcomed us when we arrived. We highly recommend Susan's "Cottage in the Forest", and look forward to returning some day!!"
