"What an absolutely exquisite retreat on the very edge of the sea! The sound of the surf lulls you to sleep after you have luxuriated on the rooftop deck under a sparkling night sky full of stars. You can have your morning coffee while gazing down at the sea, watching turtles swimming across the bay and sometimes rare monk seals sunning themselves on the sand. It's literally steps to the beautiful secluded beach, which rarely has more than a handful of people. It's easy to imagine that you are on a deserted island. In fact, the enchanting Maloaa lagoon was once the filming location for part of the famed "Gilligan's Island" series. Both Peter and Sharon are attentive and engaging hosts who have truly thought of everything. From the comfortably appointed bedrooms and kitchen, the jacuzzi bathtub, the outdoor shower, beach chairs, snorkel gear, etc., there is literally no reason to leave this magical place. But if you want to venture forth it's only a short drive to the nearest towns, the charming Hanalei (of Puff the Magic Dragon renown) and the extraordinary Na Pali coast trail. If you really like the idea of getting away from it all, this is absolutely an outstanding spot!
I know I will return again....and again."

"I stayed at this beautiful home in Moloaa Bay for 9 nights with wife, daughter, and mother. The stay was perfect with no complaints at all except I wish my stay never ended. The grounds around the house were perfect for my daughter to play and the beach across the street was the best on Kauai. No crowds and perfect for swimming. Super nice trail to the left and perfect swimming to the right. Looking forward to coming back."

"We stayed for two weeks. It was our second stay in two years.
It offers you a real sense of living on Kauai. Better then a condo or hotel, for sure. It rained every day but two. It a 'nice rain' that doesn't last all day.
Remote location. No close neighbors.
10 minute walk to a virtually empty beach. Drive there. Few places to park, but we had no problem.
Beautiful, quiet grounds.
Cheryl and Mike are very accommodating.
Would be better with a full kitchen
Remote location. Not close to any shopping which is about a 20 minutes car ride. You can only walk to the beach (which ain't bad).
No washer/dryer. Use the sink.
Load up groceries at Safeway on your way from the airport or you'll be driving to Foodland in Princeville everyday. And that gets old fast.
Leave your Hawaiian shirts, shoes, long pants at home. You won't wear any of it. Cook on the outside grill. Because of high prices, we suggest chicken, scrimp, perhaps pork. Stay away from Steaks, processed food, diary products. They are all priced too high. We spent about $300 on food for the 2 of us.
Bring bug spray!
Dining out: Drink your cocktails at home if you don't want to spend $10++ for a drink. My average 'eating out' bill was always $100+ for dinner, and about $50 for lunch (nice places). The St Regis hotel in Princeville will set you back over $200++ for 2 (we had 50% off, so not so bad).
Use the farmer's market in Hanalai."

"We chose Moloa'a Bay because we wanted to swim and snorkel without having to drive and we chose Pama Hale for the price and past reviews. We chose wisely! The home is wonderful!! As soon as you enter, you can see why people love this place--it's all windows! With all of the trees around, it seems very secluded and you feel like you're in a tree house. The deck off the back of the house is so peaceful and with the nice table and comfortable chairs, this is the perfect place to enjoy your meals and just relax. We ate all of our meals, except one (downpour), outside. Plus, with the house and deck being built on stilts, we were able to leave the doors open all night to get a nice cross breeze. I especially like the fact that I could sneak out my door and across the deck to the kitchen to make coffee each morning without having to go through any other rooms or risk waking anyone.
The beach is just a 5 minute walk from the house and is very private. The most people we saw in one day was about a dozen and we were at the beach often. A small storm came through while we were there so, on days when the surf was too rough to snorkel, we swam. One morning I was even able to get my daughter up early enough to watch the sunrise. Incredible!!! Then, when you return from the beach, you can rinse off in the outdoor shower. Did I mention it has hot water??!
We had such a great time here and Christel is wonderful! She showed us around when we first arrived and told us about the fruit trees that we had access to. We actually arrived an hour earlier than check in and she was worried we might be disappointed that she hadn't had a chance to put fresh flowers in the house. (We weren't.) We went to town to get our groceries and when we returned...fresh flowers! We returned from other outings to find surprises from her at the front door--fruit bowl, extra dish liquid, beach umbrella. She's very thoughtful and made the check in/out very easy.
Susanne is also great! The entire reservation process went smoothly and the cleaning deposit was returned very quickly.
We even made new friends--Rufus the jungle chicken, and Jeremiah the bullfrog (I didn't name him, my daughter did) although my family would have appreciated them waiting until a bit later in the morning to begin their daily communications.
My family and I are planning to return to Moloa'a Bay and would love to stay at Pama Hale again!!!
