  • Quiet, Quaint, and Just Almost Perfect

"Overall this place was great and Judith was very kind and accommodating. We were able to cook breakfast with no problems, and aside from a couple of cobwebs up in the exposed rafters, the place was clean and well stocked. The only thing that keeps me from giving it an excellent rating is the fact that there is a house being built next door, and so the couple of times we were there during the day we had very unanticipated construction noises mixed with the crashing of the waves. While I absolutely understand noises from neighboring properties are entirely out of the owners' control, I feel like a heads up would have been appropriate. For us it wasn't a huge deal, just a little irritating the couple of times we were there during the day, but if we had planned to just lounge about and take afternoon naps, it would have been more of a problem. Aside from that it really was wonderful, the beach is only a few minutes walk, and falling asleep to the sound of the ocean is something I miss already. Judith was very sweet, and greeted us with a smile, gave us a quick "orientation" so we would know where everything was, and then provided complete privacy. When my wife and I are able to return to Kauai for another getaway, we will definitely try to stay with Judith again!"

  • Kauia's best

"Our family of nine (4 couples and a single) needed a place to vacation together--a place that would provide us with both large gathering spaces and room for solitude. We found that at Moloaa Shangrila in May, 2014. Every couple, and our lone single, each had their own living space and bath. The kitchen was big enough for all the cooks, and the lanai table big enough for all the eaters. When anyone needed alone time he found it out by the pool or under a tree or in his own living space. Plus the house is just fun to be in: tiger rugs on the floors, tiger paintings, prints and sculptures everywhere, Buddha heads, delicate little metal hands to hold towels in the bath, big vases of fresh flowers, and every table lamp was held by a human figure-en. And outside: the birds, the roosters, the lamps lighting up the grounds at night. We walked down to the beach at midnight and played games at the big table when it rained. Cheryl and Mike don't just offer a house they offer an adventure."

  • Paradise at Gilligans

"My husband and I recently spent a week at Gilligans! We absolutely LOVED it! What a perfect fit for us!! Cute, quaint, cozy, homey, beautiful and peaceful are just a few ways to describe it! The beach at Moloaa Bay is perfect! The water was wonderful, the beach peaceful! I'm so glad that we chose to stay here and we will definitely be back again. If you are a resort type of a person then this probably wouldn't be a good choice for you! But if you want non touristy and privacy then please choose Gilligans! We felt as if we were at home there! Can't say enough! Aloha!"

  • Just far enough off the beaten path!

"My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon in December. We had the most wonderful time. It is so private and though it isn't right on the beach, you can hear the waves crashing at night. The beach is just superb, quiet and secluded we rarely saw other people. The cottage is in a great location, close enough to enjoy everything on the island, yet far enough away to be private and quiet. I would recommend a 4WD vehicle especially if visiting in December as it is the rainy season. Make friends with the geckos....you share the cottage with them!! :)"

Moloaa Bay Travel Tips

If you've ever dreamed of golden beaches, amazing sunsets, and a tropical paradise, then Moloaa Bay vacation rentals have what you want. Unlike more popular destinations in the state, this garden island offers quiet solitude. You'll find the getaway 35 minutes from Lihue Airport and 15 minutes from Hanalei and Kapaa. From Mediterranean-style homes to oceanfront properties, vacation rentals in Moloaa Bay have a style to match your dreams.

Enjoy Surf, Sand, and Sun at Moloaa Bay Beach Rentals

When you stay at Moloaa Bay beach rentals, you can often find vacation rentals offering ocean and mountain views. Enjoy sunbathing on the beach or from your private lanai. If you prefer water activities to soaking up rays, grab a kayak and explore the crescent-shaped bay. The water is populated with dolphins, sea turtles, and whales, so be sure to pack your waterproof camera. Underwater exploration through diving and snorkeling brings you closer to the island's aquatic life.

Get More When You Plan Your Kauai Travel

Kauai travel gives you a chance to relax in a secluded destination surrounded by tropical vegetation, but it also offers more. With a vacation rental in Kauai, you can get away from crowded resorts and small quarters. Depending on the property, you can enjoy luxury amenities. Let jet lag seep out of your body as you relax in a Jacuzzi tub. Enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine or a night cap. Unlike what you get at a hotel, vacation rentals give you more rooms and space. Forget trying to watch TV from a hotel bed. Kick your shoes off and prop up your feet in the living room, which can offer a large screen TV and a DVD player, depending on the property.
