  • We loved the house!

"We loved this house and plan to return in the very near future. The house was so large, unusual and so comfortable. The secluded deck was used everyday to eat and relax. So close to such a beautiful bay that we swam and snorkeled at daily. Location was a short distance to Hanalei, Na pali coast and other favorite North shore sights and beaches. We even named our favorite "jungle chicken" Rufus! Best vacation rental we have ever experienced! Laura and Ron Gillilan, Estacada, Oregon."

  • Please adopt us, Susie, we want to come back home.

"Our wonderful adventure took place the end of July, 2014. Four of us ladies, little girls at heart, discovered this sanctuary and so began the best vacation ever! With a little planning, we kept groceries sufficient in our sand castle for the amount of cooking we were willing to do. We ended up eating out only a few times, saving money for our treasures and keepsakes. The nearby gardens were lovely, the beaches were clean and beautiful, the flora was luscious. The outside shower should NOT be overlooked! In the heat of the day, the back of the house was quite warm; the downstairs shower was a luxury! Our beds were so comfortable we slept long and well. The morning and evening breezes prompted long and happy visits...the television soon stayed completely off. Views from the lanai inspired an artistic revival and watercolors soon flowed like the waves on the shore. We enjoyed the beach here and some days did not venture from this location. Oh, to hear the constant rhythm of the surf and the gentle percussion of the rain lulling us to sleep and calling to us again each new day! Thank you, Susie, for allowing us this visit with you."

  • Just far enough off the beaten path!

"My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon in December. We had the most wonderful time. It is so private and though it isn't right on the beach, you can hear the waves crashing at night. The beach is just superb, quiet and secluded we rarely saw other people. The cottage is in a great location, close enough to enjoy everything on the island, yet far enough away to be private and quiet. I would recommend a 4WD vehicle especially if visiting in December as it is the rainy season. Make friends with the share the cottage with them!! :)"

  • Good vacation on the beach

"We stayed in this rental for 5 nights in late March 2014 and had a great time. The location of this unit was secluded and on a BEAUTIFUL bay and the seclusion meant you would sometimes have the bay to yourself ! I was a bit hesitant on staying here in March as I had heard that the weather can be iffy & the bay not swimmable. I don't know if we lucked out or what, but we had pretty good weather for our time there & swam a few times too. The RIGHT side of the bay is the most beautiful in our opinions fyi. The host was very friendly and we definitely did not have any privacy concerns. The area is safe and we did not have to lock the doors at all when we left for the day. There were, however, some down sides to this property. We did not address them with the host at the time : We found that every kitchen dish we tried to use was dirty, including the little appliances (coffee press, water kettle etc) were covered in an oily residue. It was a big let down that we were paying a cleaning fee, as did the renters before us, and we ended up having to wash everything ourselves. In the process of washing a wine glass, it broke into a million pieces so I ended up washing the floor in the kitchen as well and the paper towel I was using was VERY black by the time I was done. (we ended up having our wine in coffee mugs which we had to wash first). The windows could also benefit from a cleaning between renters to maximize the sun & view. We are not picky people, however, for this rental that is something I have to note as needing an improvement. There was no BBQ for use which was fine with us. I would also suggest to have the soft sided cooler inside the unit for guests, as we found it outside near the garbage cans filled with water & not usable. There was WiFi in the unit which was great but the signal not very strong (need to sit at the kitchen table to stay connected). All in all, we enjoyed our stay at this rental & would probably stay again. Moloa'a Bay is extremely nice and we enjoyed the lushness of the surroundings and proximity to the beach(5 minutes walking) You definitely need a car for this location."

Underwater exploration through diving and snorkeling brings you closer to the island's aquatic life.

Get More When You Plan Your Kauai Travel

Kauai travel gives you a chance to relax in a secluded destination surrounded by tropical vegetation, but it also offers more. With a vacation rental in Kauai, you can get away from crowded resorts and small quarters. Depending on the property, you can enjoy luxury amenities. Let jet lag seep out of your body as you relax in a Jacuzzi tub. Enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine or a night cap. Unlike what you get at a hotel, vacation rentals give you more rooms and space. Forget trying to watch TV from a hotel bed. Kick your shoes off and prop up your feet in the living room, which can offer a large screen TV and a DVD player, depending on the property.
