  • We are coming back, again and again!

"We are about to reserve for our 3rd time in two years. We'd never been to Hawaii before and now we're hooked. The cottage is absolutely lovely -- private, you just feel you're in the jungle with big windows in the bedroom and living room. The morning birdsong is incredible. Roosters are noisy, but that's true everywhere on the island. We barbecued fresh fish every single night. We don't have a single complaint. If you're looking for an air conditioned, resorty kind of place, this is not for you. It's on a dirt road and feels very secluded -- but easy access to all the north shore beaches we have come to love, Hanalei and Annini especially. The owners, Mike and Cheryl, are very warm people and friendly if you want them to be, or they can just leave you alone. We've gotten very fond of them. Plus, on our last trip we fell in love with a feral cat who had been hanging around the cottage and took him home with us! We just love our Hawaiian Prince cat! Our first trip in May 2013 was amazing -- we were in the water every single day. February 2014 turned out not to be a good time of year, for us. It rained every single day, multiple times, and we only had one beach day. Not doing that again! This year we'll be going in late May, for two weeks. We did not have a 4 wheel drive, just an ordinary rental car, and we did fine, but the road can be very wet and slippery in the winter rains, so if you can afford a 4-wheel drive it sure wouldn't hurt. We can't get ourselves to even try another island, much less another cottage! This place is every bit as beautiful as it shows in the photos, with incredible decorations from Bali. The nearby beach is a little gorgeous slice of heaven."

  • Perfect, perfect, perfect

"This is a phenomenal house to stay in, with what feels like a private beach nearby. We spent 15 days exploring Kauai, Maui and the Big Island and this location and house were among the highlights. The photos are good, but the house is even better in person. It has everything you need. Be sure to wake-up for the sunrise - take your cup of coffee down to the beach and feel blessed to be alive! Darlene was an extremely responsive host and we are very grateful for our stay. We have amazing memories and want to go back!"

  • A Wonderful Experience!!

"Our family stayed at Skippers and had a great experience! Skippers is located in a beautiful valley, within walking distance to Moloaa Beach. The home was very clean and charming with the "Skipper" theme decorations. The home was well-stocked with everything we needed. My wife commented that having a washer/dryer and beach gear (beach umbrella, chairs, beach towels, snorkeling gear, and boogie boards) made staying here so much better than a hotel. I agreed! We had fresh fruit from the yard every day. It is obvious that the house is newer as well, because the whole house (including bathrooms!) feels new, clean, and fresh. Every evening we watched a few episodes of Gilligan's Island with our kids, who had never seen it before. There are many good DVD options available in the home. I also felt that the location was great. It was an easy drive north to the Hanalei Bay area or an easy drive south to Kapaa, Lihue, and Poipu. After a few days, staying here felt like home. This is the perfect location for a family!"

  • Quiet, Quaint, and Just Almost Perfect

"Overall this place was great and Judith was very kind and accommodating. We were able to cook breakfast with no problems, and aside from a couple of cobwebs up in the exposed rafters, the place was clean and well stocked. The only thing that keeps me from giving it an excellent rating is the fact that there is a house being built next door, and so the couple of times we were there during the day we had very unanticipated construction noises mixed with the crashing of the waves. While I absolutely understand noises from neighboring properties are entirely out of the owners' control, I feel like a heads up would have been appropriate. For us it wasn't a huge deal, just a little irritating the couple of times we were there during the day, but if we had planned to just lounge about and take afternoon naps, it would have been more of a problem. Aside from that it really was wonderful, the beach is only a few minutes walk, and falling asleep to the sound of the ocean is something I miss already. Judith was very sweet, and greeted us with a smile, gave us a quick "orientation" so we would know where everything was, and then provided complete privacy. When my wife and I are able to return to Kauai for another getaway, we will definitely try to stay with Judith again!"
