"We loved being at Gilligan's by Moloa'a Bay. The close location to the beach is wonderful. Though we’ve explored Moloa’a Bay many times, this week we found ourselves often at the reef on the north side of the bay rather than our usual place at the reef on the south side - both good, each one different. LOVED the outdoor shower and the solar hot water. The living space is so comfortable - light and airy with the tall ceiling. The kitchen is great - everything we need there for we two.
We really like being out of the main tourist zones, and Gilligan's is perfect - a relaxing walk to the beach - one of my favorite places on the planet. And be sure to go to nearby Larson's Beach as you might see some Monk seals. Explore any of the beaches on this magnificent northeast corner of Kauai - you won't be disappointed!
We’d love to visit Gilligan’s again sometime!"

"What an absolutely exquisite retreat on the very edge of the sea! The sound of the surf lulls you to sleep after you have luxuriated on the rooftop deck under a sparkling night sky full of stars. You can have your morning coffee while gazing down at the sea, watching turtles swimming across the bay and sometimes rare monk seals sunning themselves on the sand. It's literally steps to the beautiful secluded beach, which rarely has more than a handful of people. It's easy to imagine that you are on a deserted island. In fact, the enchanting Maloaa lagoon was once the filming location for part of the famed "Gilligan's Island" series. Both Peter and Sharon are attentive and engaging hosts who have truly thought of everything. From the comfortably appointed bedrooms and kitchen, the jacuzzi bathtub, the outdoor shower, beach chairs, snorkel gear, etc., there is literally no reason to leave this magical place. But if you want to venture forth it's only a short drive to the nearest towns, the charming Hanalei (of Puff the Magic Dragon renown) and the extraordinary Na Pali coast trail. If you really like the idea of getting away from it all, this is absolutely an outstanding spot!
I know I will return again....and again."

"We stayed for two weeks. It was our second stay in two years.
It offers you a real sense of living on Kauai. Better then a condo or hotel, for sure. It rained every day but two. It a 'nice rain' that doesn't last all day.
Remote location. No close neighbors.
10 minute walk to a virtually empty beach. Drive there. Few places to park, but we had no problem.
Beautiful, quiet grounds.
Cheryl and Mike are very accommodating.
Would be better with a full kitchen
Remote location. Not close to any shopping which is about a 20 minutes car ride. You can only walk to the beach (which ain't bad).
No washer/dryer. Use the sink.
Load up groceries at Safeway on your way from the airport or you'll be driving to Foodland in Princeville everyday. And that gets old fast.
Leave your Hawaiian shirts, shoes, long pants at home. You won't wear any of it. Cook on the outside grill. Because of high prices, we suggest chicken, scrimp, perhaps pork. Stay away from Steaks, processed food, diary products. They are all priced too high. We spent about $300 on food for the 2 of us.
Bring bug spray!
Dining out: Drink your cocktails at home if you don't want to spend $10++ for a drink. My average 'eating out' bill was always $100+ for dinner, and about $50 for lunch (nice places). The St Regis hotel in Princeville will set you back over $200++ for 2 (we had 50% off, so not so bad).
Use the farmer's market in Hanalai."

"My fiancée and I have traveled extensively. Moments after checking in, my fiancé thanked me for booking "the best vacation rental." Kauai is magical and Moloa'a Bay is no exception. Ocean views from the house are spectacular, particularly during sunrise, but the real lure of this house is it's unmatched character. The interior design is beautiful: entirely wooden architecture, vaulted ceilings, stained glass and unique detail one might categorize as 'retro,' only this house is the real deal. It is bright, airy and filled with the sound of the surf. We loved the seclusion. The house is situated amongst a cluster of homes at the end of a dirt road, 10 minutes from the main road, but the location is still conveniently 20 mins from Princeville/ Hanalei Bay in the north, as well as Kapa'a town in the east.
Our Kauai vacation consisted of three locations and this one was by far the best. We loved wandering on the beach and exploring beyond. I will add the owner was always available and helpful with questions I had about the property/surrounding area. I only wish the second floor were available for a group of friends to bring back!"
