"My husband and I just spent 8 days in this wonderful apartment, and enjoyed every minute! We are in love with Kauai, especially the north shore area around Princeville and Hanalei. This apartment is part of the Hanalei Bay Resort, which was the perfect spot for us to explore the area. There's a path down to the small beach shared with the St Regis. It never got crowded, and it was easy to find a semi-private spot in the shade under the trees that line the beach. After one afternoon of very heavy rains, the water turned murky and brown from all the rivers running into Hanalei Bay, but all other days, the water was perfectly clear. The resort was really nice, although we never spent time at the pool, and the restaurant and bar were closed for renovations. People looking for party should probably look elsewhere, but the resort is perfect for nearly everyone else. It is quite hilly, but there's a shuttle service you can call to take you to and from the lobby or parking lot. They will even pick you up at the bottom of the hill if you're coming up from the beach.
The apartment was nicely sized for the two of us, with a separate bedroom and a large air-conditioned living room. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the lanai has a fantastic view over the bay and the mountains on the other side. I'm so in love with this island, and for our next trip I will look up this place again. Joyce even sent a multi-page document with recommendations of things to do and see, and where to eat. Thanks!!"

"First and foremost, Judy's hospitality was top notch. Her accessibility, professionalism and kindness was above and beyond my expectations. We also loved the unit, the comfy bed, its beautiful bathrooms, stocked kitchen (blender, coffee maker, plates and pans) and breathtaking view of the mountains and waterfalls. The space itself was dark, which initially threw me off since I love natural light, but it ended up keeping the unit cool even though it was intensely hot outside. The fact that the unit had AC was a great luxury. Also, the resort's tennis courts were phenomenal the the coaches Donald and Mary were really nice. We ended up playing tennis and taking lessons 5/6 days that we were there and made lots of new friends. There was also coffee in the lobby each morning and lots of board games you could barrow from the community room. We loved it.
The only downsides to the property were the construction in the lobby and the pool, which made it a little less relaxing than anticipated. Plus in order to access the condo without using the main lobby stairs, you had to walk past the trash dumpsters. But even with that, we were still very happy. The fact that you didn't have to walk up or down stairs to get to the condo was great and we are really looking forward to coming back when the restaurant and pool construction are complete.
Thank you Judy!"

"We've stayed in other privately owned units at Hanalie Bay Resort before but none compare to in beauty or comfort to these two units and the value is unbelievable.
We were concerned we would hear car alarms and such being so close to the parking but didn't hear a thing and slept sound every night.
Both beds were super comfortable. They were so comfortable that I have been online looking at new mattress for our home.
The staff is amazing; always cheerful, helpful and personal, including the attendants who drive the cart, ladies who check us in and out, concierge, gardeners and housekeeping.
I can also attests to the fact that I had a first hand comparison on this trip because Delta sent a smaller plane the night we were to fly out and I got bumped. In fact, 26 other people got bumped too. All worked out though; they set me up in a room in another resort for 24 hours. Although it is very nice resort it doesn't even begin to compare to Hanalie Bay Resort.
The people were polite and said all the right things and helpful. But they were superficial or seemed to do it because it was a job, a routine to them that has been rehearsed and rehearsed well. At Hanalie Bay the employees must give freedom to be themselves or maybe the board of directors set a personable, genuine example for them to follow. I'm not sure how it occurs but there is a different "spirit" at Hanalie Bay Resort. It is the spirit of the island. It is at Hanalie Bay Resort but not at all resorts.
There is more to Hanalie Bay Resort than the view or even comfortable bed. It is hard to describe you must experience it for yourself."

"This condo was great, my husband and I were extremely pleased with the location, set up of the room and the view! Pictures do no justice. We stayed in studio #1105 which was probably the most conveniently located condo on the property, although at floor level you still get a beautiful view of the greenery, trees and mountains it's steps away from the parking lot so you don't have to lug all your stuff around the property and it's right around the corner from the pools and lobby. Also, another great thing about the location is that because it's right next to the parking lot you can easily come and go from the area, it takes a good 5 minutes to get to the main road to get to the grocery store. We absolutely loved having breakfast out on the patio and watching the view every morning. Also, the document that John sends with all the tips/advice on things to do in the area were great as well. John was a pleasure to rent from, he was very responsive. Don't be worried about the Murphy bed either, it's actually very comfortable. I have already recommended this place to everyone I have spoken to."
