  • our Hawaiian getaway

"We just returned from a fantastic visit to Kauai's north shore. The Hanalei Bay in Princeville is the perfect place to experience this island for the first time. Our rooms were clean and comfortable, we had a beautiful view of the back of Hanalei valley. It rained hard the last few days of our trip and the kids counted 20 waterfalls on the mountains! Pretty much everything we needed was provided, however the coffee was the one thing lacking. We were hoping to experience true "Kona" coffee instead of the usual hotel fare. (We did eventually find our coffee-mecca at Hanaleitown's Java Kai.) It was hard even to get our kids away from the amazing swimming pool at HBR. Both the pool and jacuzzi use the salt purification systems so there was no chlorine experience. Waterfalls and lush tropical plants surround the pool and spa. The landcaping and views are the best we have seen. We visited Lumahai Beach on our third day on the advice of a local and were not disappointed. We were treated to a "bali hi" sunset that rivaled any award-winning photograph. The people were extremely friendly and helpful from booking the place to housekeeping to the women at the front desk. The resort is huge and there is a whole fleet of electric carts to take you around... not to mention moving our considerable luggage. One of the greatest simple pleasures was to be able to wake up early and walk right down to the beach (alongside the princeville hotel). We heartily recommend Hanalei Bay and will surely return next year. Meg and Jim Miller Colorado Springs 2011"

  • Stunning

"One of the finest locations on the HLBR property with breathtaking views of Bali Hai & Hanalei Bay, this condo is immediately adjacent to a bird sanctuary, providing you with solitude, serenity and a true sense of being in the tropics. Tastefully appointed and decorated, with a spacious Lanai, it will quickly become your home- away-from-home that you never want to leave. The beds were comfortable and the convenience of a full kitchen and washer/dryer should not be underestimated in a locale where snorkeling and hiking is often a daily event. The nearby BBQ cabana almost always has an open grill for those dining in. Steve was a pleasure to work with and, in the one instance where we needed something, his on-island contact Zina swiftly provided us with what we needed. The staff at HLBR was unfailingly professional, attentive and friendly. There are so many fun things to see and do on the island that you'll likely spend much of your time elsewhere, but returning to this little slice of heaven is the perfect capstone to every day's adventure in paradise."

  • When I daydream about paradise, THIS IS IT

"I stayed in this wonderful condo in August 2012 for a getaway week to clear my mind and have to say it was one of the best experiences I've ever had. This is true paradise. I would enjoy morning coffee on the lanai, reading while listening to the morning drizzle, usually followed by a rainbow overlooking the Bay. I'd venture into Hanalei town for yoga followed by breakfast and either explore a new beach or sit by one of the two pools on property. On a couple occassions, I walked about 10 minutes down to the beach at the St. Regis (where I believe they filmed parts of The Descendants) to have lunch or lay out on the beach and read. This condo has everything you need if you're solo, a couple or have a child or two that can sleep on the couch. There is a kitchen with utensils, pots/pans, plates/silverware, a coffee maker, blender... you can enjoy meals on the nice outdoor furniture or from the table and chairs. The grocery store is just outside of the property--about a five minute drive. There are gorgeous sunset and sunrise views. The resort has activities for kids and adults, as well as tennis courts (and lessons). I will most certainly be returning to this vacation paradise!"

  • Wonderful Family Vacation!

"Let me start by saying “Amazing!” My family and I stayed in this condo from June 14th – June 21st. We absolutely loved it. The condo was perfect for us in every way. The views from the lanai were just stunning. We kept taking pictures to try and capture the beauty of it all, but pictures just can’t do it justice. We loved looking at the waterfalls off in the distance and we saw rainbows most mornings over the bay. The condo itself was immaculate. There were five of us traveling, myself, my husband and our three boys, age 9, 13 & 14. The loft area worked out perfect for the three of them; they had their own area while we had the beautiful master bedroom. There was plenty of room for everyone. We really appreciated all the extras, like the fully stocked closet with everything you could need for a day at the beach. Beach chairs, coolers, beach mats, snorkel equipment, beach bag, boogie board, sand toys, sunscreen….everything you could want. We loved having the full kitchen, which was very well equipped; we ate most of our meals at the condo. We loved the grills down by the small pool and used them often to cook dinner. It was perfect to spend the day at all the beautiful north shore beaches and then come back to the condo, cook a wonderful meal and eat dinner on the lanai with the best view in town! The location of the condo was perfect for us. We enjoyed the north shore and could easily get to all the wonderful beaches. Our favorites were Tunnels Beach, Ha’ena Beach and Hanalei Bay. We drove down to Po’ipu Beach one day, but found that we didn’t enjoy it as much as the north shore beaches. The resort grounds are wonderful and well maintained. The pool and hot tub area is gorgeous, I just loved the waterfalls, and they make it feel so tropical. The restaurant and lounge were not open during our stay, but they were working on them. I’m sure when they are done; it will only further enhance the atmosphere around the resort. I would highly recommend this condo to anyone, in fact, I already have. I hope someday I will have the opportunity to come back and stay again. It was the perfect place to stay! We loved it!!"
