"From the response time of the owner to get the place booked to our 5 day stay, the room and resort was better than expected. I just got back from Kauai surprising my girlfriend with a proposal and we had a blast. Room was clean, bed was very comfortable, and lots of amenities. (now my girlfriend wants to buy a mattress just like it). And it's the most affordable location on the north side of the island. We'd highly recommend staying here if you're looking for a good deal without sacrificing the beauty of where you are staying."

  • Cozy Kauai Studio

"Stayed at Joan's awesome studio for six days in late March/early April and LOVED the entire experience. The view will knock your socks off as soon as you walk in the door. Picture perfect and so wonderfully tranquil. The studio was cozy but very well appointed (and the king sized bed rocked!). It was perfect for my hubby and I as we spent our days exploring all that the North Shore has to offer. The property grounds are impeccable (and if you love tennis this resort has them all over the place). Big bonus was the easy walk (yes there is a hill involved but it didn't bother us at all) to the grounds next door at the St. Regis - so fun to hang out there, watch the sunset from the beach/grassy area, have a beer at the pool bar and then head back up to HBR afterward. Hanalei Bay Resort is also very close to Hanalei town .... we really thought we wanted to stay in Hanalei Town but realized very quickly that the 10 minute easy drive was a breeze and getting back to our magical view lanai was well worth staying at HBR. Wouldn't have traded it for anything and Joan was wonderful and attentive to work with."

  • The Best!!!

"When you arrive at the front desk the people are incredibly friendly and accommodating. They warmly welcome you and bend over backwards to make you feel comfortable. And then when you tell them what unit you are staying in, they immediately tell you how lucky you are. They say it has the best view and how great the owner is. Needless to say, we were anticipating a nice unit from the photos on VRBO and then the reception at the desk. Well, it was better than that!!! When we walked in the unit, the view literally knocked our socks off. Seriously, we could have sat on the balcony for the whole week sipping Mai Tai's and gazing at the view. But then it becomes apparent that there are way too many great things to do besides sitting around. Snorkeling, hiking, walking, swimming, sunning, tennis, eating, etc, etc, etc are great on Kauai. And then you open the closet and find a wide variety of equipment from snorkel gear, to boogie boards, to tennis rackets, to beach chairs, to coolers, and on and on and on. And you're flabbergasted at how great it is. And then you go in the bedroom and see the big, comfy, king sized bed with the same view and you think you have never, ever seen such a great place. And you would be right! And not only is the unit the best I've ever seen by a very large margin, but the owner is friendly, accommodating, informative and caring. I can't say enough. If you have the chance, book this unit with no hesitation. You won't be sorry!!!!"

  • Small gem in the middle of Princeville.

"The Hanalei Bay Resort has over 12, 3 floors apartment complex surrounding a large pool, 8 tennis court and wonderful garden located near the Makai golf course and the St. Regis Princeville Resort. Once check in, we walked to studio #1105 (1st floor) which is located in one of the nearest complex to the lobby. The parking is feet away from the front door. We found ourselves in one of the best condo in the resort. Once on the lanai, spectacular view of the mountain, garden, first class seating for the early morning coffee to late night glass of wine watching and listening to birds show all day. The condo was bigger than expected. We decided to leave the murphy's bed down all the time. We made sure to advise the owner that whoever cleaned the condo did an awesome job. The pool located 80 feet from the condo had beautiful falls, small beach area for family, hot tub and more. Small renovation was being done on the northwest part of the pool but we never saw anybody working. The 10 minutes’ walk to the nice beach was great for the nature, view and exercise. This resort is professionally maintained by friendly staff. The experience dealing with the owner (John) was wonderful. We would not hesitate to recommend this resort."
