  • Instant Crush

"From the moment we walked into Hale Makana, instant crush - we knew we had discovered a special place. The house sits on a stunning vista and its grounds are like a botanic garden. The pool and hot tub got huge thumbs up from our kids (who consider themselves experts on the subject!) and the house was spacious and comfortable. And as wonderful as the proptery is, Mary and her team are even better - charming, informative and wonderful in all respects. If only every vacation included such caring and welcoming stewards! Each night as we watched the sunset from the back yard we remarked on how fortunate we were to spend time at such a special place. We've travelled to Kauai numerous times and this property (and its caretakers) are far and away our favorite. Hale Makana was better than advertised and we can't wait to return. Thanks so much, Mary!"

  • Awesome house for our large extended family.

"First of all, the owners/managers were attentive to our questions and needs before and while we were there. The house accommodated, essentially 3 separate family units, although we are all related. This included grandparents, two sons and their families with young children. And we all had some private space due to the layout of the house. Our toddlers slept in the walk- in closet on the floor, and that worked out really well for us. (We brought the monitor) It is located on the North Shore, and while we could have done more research or decided what we were doing when we booked, we didn't. So pretty much, anywhere you stay on the island, you'll have to drive to some destinations- and the drive to and from offer up fun things to see on the way. So the North Shore was really no better and no worse for our vacation trip. I took a walk to Princeville shopping center one day with the stroller- and even got some Local grass fed Kauia beef at the general store by the gas station. We made BBQ'ed skewers later that night. The house was well stocked, and personally my favorite was the outdoor shower. The house had crazy amounts of water pressure, which made me feel guilty I was wasting mother natures bounty. So it was great pressure, and we bathed quickly. (And often) All in all, we enjoyed our vacation. Thank you!"

  • Large home with great views

"First the good - Tracy the owner is very responsive! When I e-mailed her that stuff was broken, she was on it right away. The on-site manager is right across the street and very nice and helpful. The views are amazing. Looking at mountains of Na Pali coast while cooking and different view of another mountain while eating. Just beautiful. Able to walk to the St. Regis Hotel beach in less than 15 minutes (walk through Hanelei Bay Resort - steep downhill walk at the end). The house is very large - the master suite (upstairs) is like its own apartment and slept our family of four with lots of room to spare. We had 13 people for a few nights and did not feel cramped at all. Much of furniture is new and beautiful. Lots of toys for kids. Very clean, Then, the bad: there is definitely some deferred maintenance happening. The roof is leaking in multiple places. Only one spot was actually dripping and needed a bucket, but there is some mold growing under the leaks in the other bedrooms. One of the toilets was wobbly and some of the bathroom drawers didn't work correctly. Needs a paint job too. The equipment in the garage (bikes, etc. . ) was also not in great shape. This may have been due to the people before us abusing it, but I don't know. Plenty of decent snorkle gear in all sizes, though. I would say for the price, this is a great place, but in our experience it wasn't in perfect shape. That didn't stop us from having a lovely family vacation. Princeville- if you haven't been here, be aware that it's not a walking-type community. To get almost anywhere, you have to drive. There is one 'mall' at the entrance to the town and the whole rest is residential or hotels. Very quiet and safe, but not what I think of as a 'beach town'."

  • Perfection

"We were so delighted with everything about this home! Not only is it exquisitely appointed, with lovely furniture, FULLY-equipped kitchen (for once I didn't have to buy a new pan or a grater or something), huge walk-in showers, gorgeous individual vanities in the bathrooms, etc., etc., but it also has a huge backyard w/fruit trees and beautiful flowers and a vine-covered gazebo. The place was IMMACULATE, too; their cleaning crew are top-notch -- not a speck of dirt anywhere, and the floors gleamed. What I especially appreciated as well was the ample supplies of t.p., dish soap, laundry soap, all the stuff you usually have to buy after being in a place for just a couple of days. The showers even had huge bottles of body wash! That might not sound that important, but it was indicative of how thoughtful the owners are, and how homey yet elegant they've made their home. The pictures really don't do it justice: it's huge. We never wanted to leave! P.S. The rec room downstairs with the huge flat screen and state-of-the-art entertainment center was really a plus!"

Private Homes Travel Tips

Princeville Vacation Rentals are Fit for Royalty

Princeville is an area situated on the North Shore of the island of Kauai in Hawaii. Many travelers and travel experts consider Princeville as one of the most beautiful vacation destinations in the country and possibly the world. With Waimea Canyon, Hanalei Bay and Napali, Princeville offers a variety of activities, day trips or ways to relax during your Kauai travel.

Royal Princeville Vacation Rentals

The royal treatment awaits when you rent Princeville vacation rentals. Princeville beach rentals offer Oceanside rooms, ocean views and the sounds of the tides rolling in while you sleep in your private bedroom or have a homemade meal that you've prepared in your vacation rental kitchen. Fully-equipped and furnished condominium rentals allows visitors to feel like royalty vacationing in paradise while also providing the comforts of home while you're away. Some units house washers and dryers, while others have facilities in the condominium resort, which makes doing a load of laundry convenient since you can toss it in the dryer and relax on the beach until it's time to fold.

Plenty to Do in Princeville

Golfers can play a round of golf on one of the two major golf courses in the area. According to Golf Digest, the Prince Course is "Hawaii's No.1 Golf Course." The other course is the Makai Course, which is home to three nine-hole golf courses catering to golfing abilities that range from novice to professional. If golfing is a bit too strenuous for you, you can always take in a treatment or spend a full day of pampering at the Princeville Spa, which offers an exclusive line of Kauai spa treatments including massages and facials with locally made products. Waterfalls, shopping, dining and the beach are but a few of the additional activities to take in while outside of Princeville vacation rentals.
