"We were told by a friend that Princeville is the place to stay on Kauai because it's beautiful and lacks any of the (mild) congestion that you find in the afternoons down in Kapaa and Lihue. Given that I prefer to stay somewhere that has a kitchen due to food allergy concerns, we looked for a condo instead of a hotel. We were very pleased overall with our choice. We liked that we could walk out to an empty golf course in the early morning (before anyone reaches the 15th hole) and walk right over to the cliff and see the ocean. We really liked that there was beach gear for us to use so we didn't have to buy or bring anything big. We liked having laundry facilities and a modestly stocked kitchen to use. There seems to be a decent TV there as well, but we didn't turn it on once.
The reasons I didn't give this all 5 stars are few. As other guests have mentioned here, it gets pretty hot in the condo at night even with fans blowing. Like someone else on here said, I'm not comfortable leaving slider doors open while we sleep. Probably nothing would have happened if we did, but as a city dweller, it's not in my nature to do that. Without air conditioning, I definitely woke up sweaty a few times. I found that if you take a cool or cold shower right before bed, it helps a lot. Also, many dishes, pots & pans in the kitchen weren't clean when we arrived - not owner Pamela's fault or of the condo itself but rather, past guests who didn't make much of an effort to clean. When we checked in, there are few dead roaches, a dead centipede, a live beetle and a live lizard in the condo. I understand that if someone didn't stay there the week before, then housekeeping won't come to clean up on the day you arrive, so things may gather. Nonetheless, after a long plane ride and a day of stuff on the island, when you walk through the door of your condo, that stuff is not what you expect to see.
Aside from the fact that you're in a beautiful setting and paying a very reasonable price for the condo, what makes this place so good to stay at is the fact that Pamela is extremely attentive and eager to accommodate if something goes awry. She made things pretty good for us in that regard. Nothing to do with the condo itself but Hawaii Telecom gave us some problems accessing the wifi. Pamela really made an effort to fix that situation as best she could, being 3,000 miles away. She was very helpful and generally very welcoming. Very pleasant to work with. We would stay here again."
