"We just got back from staying at this house. The location on the North Shore was great and the house was pristine. It is well stocked and the supply room has chairs, snorkeling equipment, boogie boards and shoes to walk on the lava flats. My only negative comment and the reason why I could not give the location five stars is that the internet was horrendous. The speed was less than .25 MB/sec. I could not remotely access my office. Living on the east coast, one of the reasons why I like to vacation west is that the time change allows me to get up very early and work several hours before I start the day. This was impossible and unfortunately, like most people, my business requires a few hours of work per day. What was interesting is that the house had Cable TV. I called the cable company and they stated that they offered speeds of up to 50 MB/sec. I found it odd that a multi-million dollar house would have such terrible internet in this day and age.
We were at the house for one week and we had 4 good days of weather. I would come back in the early summer for better weather. The water temperature was about 75 degrees when we snorkeled."

"Our group (four adults and three kids) truly enjoyed our time at this home. The location is simply lovely- on a quiet street literally steps from a beautiful beach that was generally empty. There is nothing better than ending and beginning your day with a walk on a nearly vacant, warm beach. (We did find the beach too rough for kids to swim in but there were plenty of options not too far away). You felt the Kauai magic when you walked, barefoot, through the path to the beach!
The home itself was open, very clean and had all the amenities we could want- from a plethora of plates, dishes, towels etc. to snorkel gear. The home also had washer, dryer, and dishwasher.
We enjoyed being a bit out of town and away from the mainstream tourist spots. The sheer beauty of the North Shore is breathtaking and kept us close by! We usually drove into Hanalei during the day for supplies or Princeville (for snorkeling for the kids). We explored the botanical gardens nearby and the Na' Pali trail. We loved the spot so much we didn't make it further South than Kapaa during our trip, except to fly home. This is not the place to be in a hurry- driving is slow and there are numerous one-lane bridges that you have to cross between the home and Hanalei. (Again, this was not an issue for us at all).
The owner, Bill, is very nice to deal with and accommodating. I loved this spot so much I didn't want to leave and cannot wait to come back."

"I had the pleasure of staying at Hale Alealea earlier this month for a girls getaway, and it was fantastic! The house was spacious, light and airy, and it seemed always the perfect temperature. The kitchen was great. We brewed fresh coffee every morning and laid out an array of fresh tropical fruit for ourselves. Make sure you visit the nearby Waipa Farmers Market on Tuesdays. The fruit selection was incredible!
The lanai was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the front garden view and the "peekaboo" ocean view, and there is ample room. From there, we could gauge how calm the water was. There is very easy access to stroll along the sand as well as to venture out snorkeling. All we had to do was walk straight out the front yard and under the stilts of the property in front, and we were on the beach and ready to go.
There is a restaurant and an art gallery/cafe in walking distance, but we were drawn to nearby Sushigirl for the poke bowls and sushi rolls. So fresh and just a short drive away. And, there are plenty of other dining options and markets also just a short drive away.
All in all, it was a luxurious getaway. Very relaxing, spacious, and beautiful. It was my first time to Kauai, and I look forward to returning. I highly recommend this property!"
