"Hale Ho'opio is an amazing place of extraordinary beauty, serenity, and comfort, providing great relaxation and sanctuary for body and soul. It is elegantly appointed with wide open spaces and stunning panoramic views of the mountains. The views from the living room, screen porch, and lanai are so jawdroppingly beautiful that you could just sit all day and be bathed in the glory of nature without even going outside. The layout is very conveniently designed, so that there is easy access to everything you need. There is plenty of ventilation from ceiling fans in almost every room and screen doors to the spacious lanai and the delightful screen porch. I have stayed here every year for the past four summers and wish I could live here year round. It is truly my home away from home. Maren is an absolute pleasure to deal with, very responsive and caring to her repeat clientele, always welcoming me back with fresh bouquets of flowers and special treats from the garden. The property manager is terrific, incredibly kind, helpful, and always willing to be of service, and the home and grounds are maintained in pristine condition. This is truly a heavenly place situated in its own private corner of paradise, the north shore of Kauai, one of the most beautiful and sacred sites in the world. The breathtaking splendor of Na Pali, Ke'e Beach, Hanalei Bay, and Anini is just literally minutes away."

"We stocked up at Costco in Lihue, then were very pleased when we arrived at the house. You never really know till you get there. Our group consisted of four couples, one of whom had three young children. The downstairs master worked well for their family. The four and five year olds slept happily on the floor, and the one year old slept in the pack 'n play in the roomy walk-in-closet. Each of the other couples had a bedroom, although the second upstairs bedroom has a double bed and shares the master bathroom. The upstairs master bathroom has absolutely no doors, so there is no privacy, which may be important when you are sharing the bath with another couple. But it is a very nice bathroom and plenty roomy. The location was wonderful, backing up to a gorgeous golf course. Just know that the grounds people start very early in the morning. It seemed only the upstairs master bedroom couple heard them though. The kitchen has everything you could need for cooking, and the garage has lots of beach equipment from chairs and mats to bikes to snorkeling gear. They have coolers so you can take lunch with you. There is no A/C but the house is designed with louvered windows and doors for wonderful ventilation. It did take a day or two for our little one to adjust to the humidity. Be sure to drink lots of water. The only down side was the refrigerator. It did not cool down enough so we never had ice and had to put the milk in the freezer side for it to get cold. There was a working refrigerator in the garage, but that was not very convenient. We called the manager, and he responded quickly. He was aware of the problem, so we were surprised that nothing had been said about that. A note on the counter would have been nice as we could have put the milk and frozen items in the garage fridge that first evening had we known. The manager did bring us a bag of ice, but ice trays would have worked much better. But we made do, and he said the fridge would be repaired or replaced after we left. Hopefully, that has been done. Overall, it was a wonderful place to stay and very close to Hanalei Bay, which was perfect for the kids with gentle waves and a soft, sandy beach. We hiked down to Queens bath, which is very close, and the guys took the hike at the end of the road. We enjoyed a helicopter ride, the Smith Family Luau and lunch and the train ride at the Kilohana Plantation. We also took the river barge up the Wailua River to the Fern Grotto. We would rent this home again!"

  • Family vacation in paradise

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My wife and I planned this vacation with our daughter her husband. There were 10 total in our party. There were four adults and six children from the ages of three to eighteen. The location was excellent. We were a 5 minute walk to the beach. Shopping was a ten minute drive away. Numerous outdoor activities within 10 minutes; hiking, kayaking, surfing, turtle viewing. The house in general had plenty of space for everyone. The kitchen was very functional and equipped well with all the necessary essentials. The washer/dryer were excellent. The outdoor barbecue was excellent and used daily. The five bedrooms were spacious and clean. NOTE bedrooms facing the street were subject to some street noise. The house had 360 degree wrap around covered deck, great feature. The house was in need of some simple maintenance, outside gate repair and refrigerator had a water leak when the ice maker/water dispenser were used."
