  • Bugs? Are you kidding me? This is the tropics after all!!!

"If you are the type who prefers directions via GPS coordinates rather than street names and numbers, this is absolutely the place for you! If you are looking for some boring, cookie cutter, surgically sterile 5 star beachfront condo, isolated away from nature, where your butler lays out your clothes for the day, move it along, nothing to see here. If, on the other hand, you enjoy listing to the sound of crickets and song birds all night and day, this is definitely the place for you. All future guests need to realize you are staying smack dab in the middle of the jungle. Critters are all part of the experience. Neil and Sharon are great and take care of issues PROVIDED YOU TALK TO THEM FIRST WITHOUT WRITING BIASED REVIEWS!!! Damn it people, this is the jungle not some surgical room! If you leave the lights on and all the doors open you invite all the flying creepy crawlies into your place no matter where you live. Neil and Sharon do a great job on using non toxic methods of controlling the pests. My wife and I stayed 9 nights. Talk about a very unique and memorable experience. The outdoor shower was great! The loft bed is oh so comfortable. The only way you can get any closer to nature is to pitch a tent. It rained almost every night. What a wonderful sound. We enjoyed the song birds the entire time."

  • Private Cottage Getaway

"Having been to Kauai many times, this is my favorite place to stay. Tucked away surrounded by beautiful plants and flowers it feels like a home away from home. Clean & comfortable! Well thought out & stocked with beach chairs, beach towels etc. Just a short drive from Poipu we spent many sunny February days laying out at the Sheraton and Shipwrecks beaches. Every morning my husband made us breakfast that we would enjoy on the lanai, with fresh squeezed OJ from the many fruit stands we found along the way to the cottage. Showering in the bamboo outdoor shower everyday is something I truly miss! I am already counting the days until we can return to this lovely cottage, my home away from home! Bamboo for Two hosts Susan & Steven were great. Available for recommendations on activities & places to eat still giving us our privacy. We even spent an evening watching whales from their lanai enjoying a glass of wine together. We had many fantastic meals just minutes away at the Kalaheo Cafe, one of my favorite spots to eat on the island! This was a lovely relaxing vacation I will not forget, Mahalo!"

"I am going to get straight to the point! WE LOVE, LOVE, LOVED THE MONTH WE SPENT AT HALE O’ANI THIS YEAR! And we are coming again in 2016 – this time for ten weeks! After several years of staying in condos on the beach in Poipu, my husband and I decided to explore more of Kauai’s vacation properties. Fortunately, we were still on the island when we found the listing for the above property and were able to see it in person. We loved the serenity of the location and the beautiful attention to detail of the décor. We rented it on the spot for the entire month of January, 2015. It did not disappoint. It is a wonderful retreat. The furnishings are unique, the floors spectacular, and the place immaculate. The bedding is first class, with wonderful pillows (better than I have at home). I love to cook and consequently we ate out infrequently during the month. I found the kitchen to be well equipped with a blender, food processor, crock pot, all the typical utensils, and a gas stove, which was a bonus. The glassware and dishes are much nicer than I’ve ever had in a condo property. There is also a Weber grill with all appropriate tools. And Tommy Bahama beach chairs, plus an umbrella for days at the beach. The hot tub and outside shower were great treats, and we enjoyed the seclusion and privacy that the stucco wall with palms and blooming flowers provided (think “romantic tropical” house). There are plenty of birds singing and typical creatures that you’d expect to see in a tropical climate. Faye and Bob were highly attentive, but not intrusive. Because we were staying for a month we made a few requests that were fulfilled immediately. While we don’t want to wish our lives away, I can’t wait to get back to this wonderful spot which seems to be a great balance of beauty and functionality; and that suits us perfectly."

  • Great haven on Kauai

"We truly enjoyed our first trip to Kauai. We are adventurous hikers and Hale Keo was a great retreat to come back to each evening. Its central location made it easy to see all the island has to offer as well as reach many of the trailheads. We appreciated being away from the congested areas of town, but still had all we could have needed within a very short distance. Hale Keo is well equipped from kitchen to beach equipment. We only stayed a week, but would have felt comfortable staying much longer. The hosts, Lorraine and Luis were very accomodating hosts while still giving us our privacy. We had a beautiful visit to Kauia and to Hale Keo. Thank You."
