"This was a great house, we had two families staying here and it was plenty big enough. The kids found that the beach just out front was the best boogie boarding, and turtles feeding off to the left of the house all day. Humpbacks could be seen sitting in our chairs from the screened porch.
The screened porch was awesome!!! We didn't even sit in the living room, this was a great spot to relax and enjoy the view.
The house was well stocked with tons of towels and all things you would need on vacation, cooking or other wise.
The house could use some updating, but with the view and location you forget about that instantly!!"

"We just got home today after a wonderful trip! This was our first time to Kauai and we can't wait to go back. Lost to the beach with everything you need to have a great trip! We can't thank you enough.
The bungalow is close to the beach and Debbie and Jim have everything you need....coolers, beach chairs, towels, surfboards, boogie boards, water socks, bikes....the list goes on and on.
We tried to stay out of the sun during the hot part of the day...and this was a great location to start our daily adventures. We would run every morning then hit the beach to snorkel, swim and surf. Hated to leave...
Thanks again for the best time EVAH!"

"This was our first time to Kauai and we are sure to come back! We traveled to Kauai as a family - two parents and two children, ages 2 and 5, in late August for 10 days. We usually prefer a vacation rental to a hotel so we can feed the kids at home (they eat a LOT) and have a more relaxed vacation, and our trip to Kauai was no exception. We found the Turtle Cove Cottage via VRBO and it was one of the few houses in/near Poipu that looked nice and also had A/C.
Even before we departed the plane, it sure looked promising. We spoke at length with the owners Bev and Jeff who were warm and nice and assured us that we shouldn't have any issues with their cottage. The management company that takes care of the place in their absence also proved exceptionally attentive and every little detail was sorted out prior to our arrival.
Now for the cottage itself - it's a beautiful, completely renovated, cottage with brand new appliances and every thing one may need on vacation - two beautiful porches (lanai), BBQ, washer/dryer, AC in every room, outside shower (we loved it! and it kept the sand outside), comfortable kitchen stacked with dishes, dishwasher and more. We were a bit concerned that the two kids should share one king size bed but that was not a problem at all and the kids loved it!
The location - the cottage is located just a VERY short walk from baby beach, which was perfect with young kids. It's also a 1-min drive from the spouting horn attraction, the famous Poipu Beach, shops etc. While we enjoyed the Poipu area, we also explored every single part of the little Kauai island. The drive between the cottage and the farthest northern point did not take much longer than 1 hour so for us it was convenient to stay in one place and take day trips.
Finally, when we stayed at the Cottage, Bev and Jeff added a an additional perk - temporary membership with the Poipu Beach Athletic Club for the duration of our stay, which was wonderful. We went to the beach every day but it was nice to go to the pool in the afternoons or when ocean swimming wasn't ideal. It's a nice little club with a water slide, towels, beach toys and shallow pool. There is also a reasonably priced restaurant there and tennis courts.
Thank you Bev and Jeff for sharing your home with us! We can't wait to come back!"

"Hale Lani Kai truly IS as wonderful as all of the previous reviews state. It was perfect for our group of six (5 adults + 1 toddler). I stayed in the upstairs bedroom with the slider. Coming from the foggy San Francisco Bay Area, I welcomed leaving the slider and windows open at night for the balmy cross-breeze. Several islanders told us that July and August are their “bad weather” months due to the heat and humidity. Although the house does not have A/C, there are ceiling fans everywhere and several box fans, which got a good workout during our stay (their white noise also helped drown out the roosters’ crowing). The lanai always had a refreshing breeze and we spent a lot of time out there dining, playing games, relaxing and enjoying the view.
Hale Lani Kai’s kitchen is spacious and the pictures don’t do it justice. The open floor plan and island are great for preparing meals, even with several cooks at once. We shopped at Costco as soon as we arrived and the extra-large refrigerator held everything. The powerful blender was great for making frosty beverages and the counter-top docking station/radio was in constant use. The wireless internet was much appreciated for booking The Smith Family Luau (the best!) and researching other things to do, like kayaking the Hanalei River. On July 4th we attended the Concert in the Sky, which Kelly had recommended. What a great family event benefitting Kauai Hospice!
Hale Lani Kai’s selection of beach gear is extensive and the close proximity to multiple great beaches and a playground is awesome. We always cut through the vacant lot between the house and the surf shop. The outdoor shower and bench is very convenient when returning home with sandy bodies and salty gear. All of the bathrooms are elegant and spacious. The furnishings are upscale and the home and landscaping are well-maintained. Kelly was easy to work with and helpful.
Our entire group enjoyed our stay at Hale Lane Kai very much! We unanimously didn’t want to leave, would love to stay there again and wholeheartedly recommend it!"
