  • Poipu Fun

"Unit is on the second floor with the master bedroom up one additional flight of stairs. The unit had everything you need to feel at home. Basic bathroom sundries were provided. The bedrooms were well furnished and the beds comfortable. We even used the blow up bed. The pool was a good size, warm and not very crowded. It is located at the other end of the complex from the unit. As stated there is an ocean view from the end of the main lanai. It is a short walk to the ocean and to the Hyatt and about a five minute drive to Poipu Beach. Be prepared to be woken up every morning at dawn by the roosters. There is not air conditioning in the unit but fans are in all rooms. This is adequate as long as the breezes are blowing which is usually the case. However there was a couple of days when, due to the humidity, A/C would have been nice. Ate at: Keoki's - dinner; Brennecke's - pupus and drinks, nice view of Poipu Beach; Kalapake Joes - breakfast (not recommended); Mariachi's in Lihue - lunch (food was good but the service was poor even though there was never more tan about 10 people in the restaurant); Hyatt Sunset Terrace - cocktails at sunset. Attended the rum tasting at the Koloa Rum Company. Good fun. Also rode the train at Kilohana Plantation at the same location. Snorkeled at Poipu Beach using the gear provided in the unit. It was crowded in the water and there are far better snorkeling spots in the area and on the island. Owner Kay was easy to work with and very friendly. Would recommend this unit to anyone staying in Poipu."

  • Exceptional Value - Amazing Management Staff - Breathtaking View - Incredible Owners - FIVE STARS!!

"We arrived late afternoon on a Friday, and after stopping for the essential groceries for the following morning, met up with the staff at the Makahuena, where we received our keys and entered into what was to be our home for the next two weeks. Wow! All the beds were fresh, comfortable, and clean. Extra pillows were available inside the closets. The “Fun In The Sun” packs were a nice touch with two brand new boogie boards, plenty of sand toys, and collapsible chairs to take to the beach with you. We didn’t spend much time in the condo pool, (Poipu Beach is about a mile west of the condo) but the time we did spend was nice, the pool was clean, the hot tub was relaxing and the interaction with the other tenants in the condo was nice. (@ 90% of the condos are set up as rentals for vacationers) They had a nice tennis court, plenty of parking, and well maintained grounds and landscape. (They had a painting crew working on our building, sanding, scraping, power-washing, and painting, but they were never intrusive, or noticeable during our stay. The owners of the condo (Zoe & Mark) were extremely accommodating to changes in schedules (allowing a late checkout for us), impromptu situations, and prompt with communications via email even when they were halfway around the world. One communication with them had us in Cincinnati, Ohio and they were both in Japan. Still they responded nearly instantly, despite the extreme time zone differences. A level of service that is hard to find, but very much appreciated. When we have the opportunity to return to Kauai, we will stay here again. It’s a great value, the on-site staff is quick to respond to questions or problems and very accommodating, the views of the sunrises from the lanai are breathtaking, and it was a perfect fit for the four of us. Mahalo plenty, and with much aloha. We will be back. Pete & Jennifer Macklin Hamilton, Ohio"

  • Great little private spot, equipped with everything you need!

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Fantastic! For us we wouldn't have wanted anything more than this lovely little room, and the bed was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in! They supplied everything from eski and beach chairs, to cocktail shakers! There wasn't one utensil or equipment that we went looking for and couldn't find. Bert and Gale were also very lovely to deal with and the whole experience had a very home away from home feel. The only downfall was that the walls are very thin and we had a very 'enthusiastic' family staying next door but besides that, if we made it to Kauai again, we would definitely be returning to hideaway cove!"

  • Great place to stay

"This was our second visit here and look forward to our next. Everything was impeccable, and I couldn’t want for more. We have rented over a dozen vacation properties in different parts of the country and this is our favorite. It is so nice to go to a place that feels like home. The owners have thought of everything. There is a washer and dryer, everything you need for a day at the beach. Towels, chairs, boogie boards, snorkel gear and buckets of toys are available to guest at the cabana on the water’s edge, it’s all hassle free. The resort is situated in a quiet area close to Poipu Shopping Village where there are great restaurants and shopping. And, if you are up for a massage you can enjoy this indulgence in your room. If you have never been to Kiahuna plantation, it’s a must. It is paradise on the ocean 100% tranquil with plenty to do within walking distance or a short drive. Must do is Spouting Horn, Wailua Falls, and Hanalei Valley lookout. My guess: when you visit you will never want to leave."

Poipu Travel Tips

Poipu Vacation Rentals on Kauai’s South Shore

On the south shore of Kauai, independent travelers looking for rental property will enjoy Poipu. Poipu vacation rentals are ideal for those seeking beach vacations with plenty to see and do each and every day. Poipu beach condos are great locations for families or groups of friends. In a Kauai lodging choice, you will find a home base for your pleasure, whatever that may be.

Poipu Vacation Rentals to Visit the Spouting Horn

It is well-known that the Hawaiian Islands are volcanic, giving visitors unique and breathtaking landscape to view. Visitors to Poipu vacation rentals find the Spouting Horn a particularly fascinating sight; this phenomenon happens with each wave but for a really stunning sight, visit at sunset. From your Kauai lodging choice, a visit to the National Tropical Botanical Garden is an educational trip. This area was founded to conserve the native flora and now covers almost 2,000 acres, with thousands of species. The Gardens, or rather the five gardens, are close to Poipu beach condos.

Poipu Beach Condos with Golf and Tennis

For those staying at Poipu vacation rentals who want sporting vacations, there are two championship golf courses and a variety of tennis courts around the area. Those seeking adventure in the water will enjoy getting out of their Kauai lodging for scuba diving, snorkeling, surfing or kayaking. The area around Poipu beach condos is filled with hiking trails.

Kauai Lodging to See the Garden Island by Sea or Air

There are some great ways to see the Garden Island that surrounds Poipu beach condos. Take an ocean tour to get some great views of the island's amazing coastline. Near your Kauai lodging choice, you'll find day cruises or, for the romantics, an evening couples-only cruise. For the thrill-seekers, an alternative view of the island can be seen from above via a helicopter trip. All this and so much more can be part of your vacation when you stay at Poipu vacation rentals.
