  • We felt like locals!

"We could not have wished for a better place to spend our vacation in Hawaii. We loved everything from eating meals on the patio to enjoying beautiful ocean and sunset views from the roof deck (literally breathtaking), short walks to Poipu beach and driving into local town for ice cream. My wife and I stayed 3 weeks with our kids who are under 10 at the house in June and July. Juliana and Jim made us feel very welcomed and answered all questions or concerns in a very timely manner! The property was very clean and had everything you need to feel like you are home with different items to take to the beach for kids (to tell you the truth, it was better than I expected from the listing). There was plenty of space for kids to run around on the property, with their favorite activity being tracking lizards and geckos! We loved having a jacuzzi that we could all dip into after time at the ocean! A coconut tree right next to you as you soak and enjoy the beautiful plants and views (you can actually see a bit of the ocean from the jacuzzi). The Poipu beach is awesome and is appropriate for any age, I think we saw kids who were under a year enjoying the protected lagoon. If you walk around there is an area with small waves where kids enjoyed boogie boarding, which is a must if your kids are a bit older! On the other side of the beach there is an awesome snorkeling area with tons of beautiful fish that swim up right next to you. Make sure to grab some fish food at the local surfing store on the way to the beach, you will feel like you are swimming in the salt water aquarium with fish eating off your hands. For Luau, we went to Smith's Garden Luau, which is about 30 min away. The food was amazing! Very warm and welcoming atmosphere by the staff. It was also a great performance. Make sure to arrive early, so you can explore their beautiful grounds with tropical birds, plants and mini-villages. We also explored the different beaches around the island, like Salt Pond Park Beach, Ka'a Beach on the North Shore. However, Poipu beach was my favorite! Make sure to check out the Old town of Koloa with it's small stores and eateries. We enjoyed having Pizza at Pizetta on Koloa Rd. Kukui'ula Village Shopping Center just a few minutes driving has great shops and restaurants. We loved going there in the evening just to walk around and became frequent visitors at Lappert's for ice cream. Unfortunately I am over my character limit :) ALOHA"

  • Paradise!

"My husband and I had been to Oahu and the Big Island 40 years ago. This time we chose Kauai and Maui, vowing it would be our final trip since we visit every 40 years. Then we stayed in Craig and Marga's and decided we would definitely return to Kauai and to this condo. This condo is gorgeous, comfortable, and laid out perfectly for a truly wonderful, relaxing vacation. We saved time and money cooking in the well-stocked kitchen. We had breakfast on the patio while viewing the lush landscape. Every day we strolled down to the beach for swimming and over to the public beach for excellent snorkeling. We explored the island, took 900 photos, and slept peacefully in a very comfortable bed. Thank you, Craig and Marga, for sharing your condo, boogie board, beach umbrella, and guide books; for answering my many questions; and for emailing clear directions and suggestions of what to see. I hope to be writing reviews of your place for many years to come."

  • Beautiful condo, amazing location, awesome owners - what's not to love?

"So, chances are you've read the other reviews, so let me start off that I was taken aback at how accurate they were: I read about the sea turtles and figured "oh yeah, sure, you probably see the occasional sea turtle" reality, I ended up sitting on the lanai and counted a solid 4-6 turtles in the first few hours after we arrived (...and you can grab snorkel gear out of the closet and swim with them). The condo, likewise, is even more attractive than the beautiful pictures on VRBO - Ken and Wanda have a photo album detailing the teardown and remodeling they went through, and you can tell the place is a labor of love...the results say it all. Speaking of Ken & Wanda, they were fantastic hosts, Ken was extremely responsive, and made the booking process a breeze - even booking this vacation was relaxing, which is a rare occurrence. As first time travelers to Kauai, I don't think we could have picked a better place to stay - Kuhio Shores is in a prime location, a short drive from the Poipu beach restaurants and resorts (and state park, of course), Old Koloa Town, multiple boat companies for excursions along the Napali Coast, and is within walking distance of a swanky shopping center, which is host to a market with a very nice selection of food, wine, and beer. That having been said, our favorite feature was right next door - after your days activities, Lawai Beach is practically at your doorstep, and is a perfect way to unwind while watching surfers, snorkeling, or just sitting on the Beach House's lawn. The whole island is accessible if you're in the mood for adventure, and if you're not, your home base is a beautiful, fully-stocked condo parked right next door one of the best restaurants on the island, surfing, snorkeling, and an amazing vantage point for watching the sun set - honestly, it's a slam dunk. If we went back next week it wouldn't be soon enough."

"This little condo could not be more perfect. It had everything one could ever want for an effortless vacation to Kauai. The place was spotless, and well maintained. It was comfortably furnished, and included extras such as beach towels and beach chairs. Quick walk to the beach and restaurant. We had such a fantastic time on the island and the perfect location of this condo only added to the enjoyment. When booking this property the owner was prompt in returning calls and emails, and followed up with me just before my arrival date. I would reccomend this condo to anyone that is looking for the prefect location in Poipu. I know I'll be back!"

Poipu Travel Tips

Poipu Vacation Rentals on Kauai’s South Shore

On the south shore of Kauai, independent travelers looking for rental property will enjoy Poipu. Poipu vacation rentals are ideal for those seeking beach vacations with plenty to see and do each and every day. Poipu beach condos are great locations for families or groups of friends. In a Kauai lodging choice, you will find a home base for your pleasure, whatever that may be.

Poipu Vacation Rentals to Visit the Spouting Horn

It is well-known that the Hawaiian Islands are volcanic, giving visitors unique and breathtaking landscape to view. Visitors to Poipu vacation rentals find the Spouting Horn a particularly fascinating sight; this phenomenon happens with each wave but for a really stunning sight, visit at sunset. From your Kauai lodging choice, a visit to the National Tropical Botanical Garden is an educational trip. This area was founded to conserve the native flora and now covers almost 2,000 acres, with thousands of species. The Gardens, or rather the five gardens, are close to Poipu beach condos.

Poipu Beach Condos with Golf and Tennis

For those staying at Poipu vacation rentals who want sporting vacations, there are two championship golf courses and a variety of tennis courts around the area. Those seeking adventure in the water will enjoy getting out of their Kauai lodging for scuba diving, snorkeling, surfing or kayaking. The area around Poipu beach condos is filled with hiking trails.

Kauai Lodging to See the Garden Island by Sea or Air

There are some great ways to see the Garden Island that surrounds Poipu beach condos. Take an ocean tour to get some great views of the island's amazing coastline. Near your Kauai lodging choice, you'll find day cruises or, for the romantics, an evening couples-only cruise. For the thrill-seekers, an alternative view of the island can be seen from above via a helicopter trip. All this and so much more can be part of your vacation when you stay at Poipu vacation rentals.
