"This is our 4th year staying at Hale Lokahi, and we've already put down a deposit for next year. Everything you've read about the house from others is spot on. Chad is easy to work with and Sarah took care of a broken screen door in one day - exceptional customer service. We've rented other VRBO houses, and none of them have the well-stocked kitchen that this home has - especially dry goods (spices, pasta, rice, canned goods) and refrigerator condiments (salad dressings, sriracha, wasabi, soy sauce, mayo, relish, other surprises). We love walking to Ishihara's every morning to get a newspaper and something fun for lunch (which flavor of poke today?) or contemplate what to grill for dinner (Kekaha shrimp? Char Sui chicken? Teriyaki beef?). Wrangler's is fun for dinner, and a walk via the beach to Kalapaki Joe's is fun, too. Don't forget to have a shaved ice and eat at the Shrimp Station. Dragging out chairs every evening to watch the sunset with a glass of wine, returning to cook dinner, laying on the beach after dinner to marvel at the stars, and falling asleep to the sound of the waves relaxes us beyond belief (as evidenced by my husband's FitBit). So much to do on Kauai! Absolutely love love love this house!"

"This property was a wonderful surprise. "Plantation" says it all -- the house was vintage and sprawling. It was extremely well kept and stocked with all the amenities/comforts of home. And with 5000 feet on one level and 12-foot ceilings, it all felt absolutely spacious. The veranda was a perfect spot for our family to gather over drinks to watch surfers, whales, and sunsets. We had a group of 9 adults, and the house was perfect with the setup for each family to have their own private space including a bathroom. We cooked breakfasts and dinners at the house nearly every day - the cupboards were so well stocked that we never ran out of clean coffee mugs or wine glasses! Walks on the nearly private beach provided daily excursions and shell-searching. The expansive lawn also provided a feeling of space and luxury -- a welcome change after spending a few days in Waikiki in throngs of tourists. We even bought a frisbee to take advantage of the space! Even before we arrived in Kauai, our experience with this rental was very positive. The rental agent and the owner were very responsive to inquiries, providing pictures and much more information than expected. Some in our group had late flights out on our day of departure and they were very accommodating to arrange a late checkout from the property. (The only thing that would have made the week better was if roosters really only crowed at dawn! ;-) If (when?) we visit Kauai again, we would definitely return to this property!"

"Wow! The home and the setting are just grand. This was the perfect 1 week getaway for our family. We have four kids age 7 and under. They loved the hot tub and Neil's kitty cat. My wife and I loved the views and the fully capable kitchen. The grill was also a plus, because the options for eating out on the southwest coast are a little limited. Neil is a superb property manager and a very nice person. We inadvertently left behind my daughter's "puppy blanket." Neil found it and mailed it back to us just a few days later. The Xbox was a nice addition, but the kids were having so much fun with everything else, they forgot about it within a day.
Note: a wire fence runs along the entire length of the property abutting the beach, and there is no gate. You'd either have to hop the fence (challenging, and I'm not sure that's okay with the owner), or you'd have to walk out the driveway and south down the road for about 50 yards to the public opening to the beach.
Also of note: We loved having our toddlers with us, but if you have little ones, and plan to travel the island extensively, get a rental vehicle with an entertainment system.
We'd definitely love to stay here again!"
