"I found out earlier in the year that my services were needed at the PMRF to support a NASA Balloon Launch. Since I had never been to the PMRF or Hawaii for that matter I was referred to the VRBO website. After looking at few spots on the westside of Kauai I settled on the Hale Kekaha for my long term stay. The location was absolutely perfect! Literally across the street from the beach so beach access was never an issue. In fact with the windows open and the ceiling fans on I had the best sleep ever away from home especially with the sound of the surf pounding just outside my window. The unit has a fully stocked kitchen with all cooking utensils, pots, pans, etc along with a gas oven, stove top and a microwave. The unit also has full washer and dryers with plenty of washing detergent and fabric softener. There were plenty of bikes, boogie boards and snorkeling equipment for recreational use and there is never ever a shortage of towels, either for the bathroom or for use at the beach. The porch features an outdoor dining table and deck chairs which offers the a great experience for dining or having an evening cocktail. Both the front and back doors feature French style doors with screens to keep the bugs and to cool the house down with a breeze. The landscaping was breath taking and I was able to get excellent shots of rainbows over the ocean with all the coconut palms in the background. There is wireless internet access to keep in touch with the "outside world" and although I never used it they do have a flat screen TV with a DVD player. The sounds of the surf and the view from the front porch was all the entertainment I needed and provided for a very relaxing stay, especially after a long day at work or a fun day of recreation. The location is just minutes away from fine dining in Waimea, the Kikialoa small boat harbor for the Na'Pali tours and road to scenic Waimea Canyon. The only complaint I have is the fact that Highway 50 does separate the property from the beachfront and the sound of automobile traffic can be a very minor distraction from an absolute oasis of relaxation but that is being nit picky! Overall I highly recommend this property for anyone wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of the touristy resort atmosphere of Lihue or Poipu. Kekaha is a very relaxed town and if you did not know any better one would think you were in Main Street, USA but with a beach. As the sign says above the front doors WESTSIDE-BESTSIDE."

"This home was beyond our expectations. It is beautiful inside and out. There are so many great things on the property - the pool, relaxing lanais with hammocks, fully stocked kitchen, super comfortable beds, and the beautiful ocean just across the street. Waimea Canyon is an easy drive, Hanapepe Friday Night Artwalk is super fun, and Polihale Beach is someplace everyone should experience. There are mango trees, a banana tree, palms with coconuts, an avocado tree and cute little geckos hanging out on the property. This is without a doubt the most magnificent property we have ever rented on VRBO. You will not be disappointed!!"

"This is our 4th year staying at Hale Lokahi, and we've already put down a deposit for next year. Everything you've read about the house from others is spot on. Chad is easy to work with and Sarah took care of a broken screen door in one day - exceptional customer service. We've rented other VRBO houses, and none of them have the well-stocked kitchen that this home has - especially dry goods (spices, pasta, rice, canned goods) and refrigerator condiments (salad dressings, sriracha, wasabi, soy sauce, mayo, relish, other surprises). We love walking to Ishihara's every morning to get a newspaper and something fun for lunch (which flavor of poke today?) or contemplate what to grill for dinner (Kekaha shrimp? Char Sui chicken? Teriyaki beef?). Wrangler's is fun for dinner, and a walk via the beach to Kalapaki Joe's is fun, too. Don't forget to have a shaved ice and eat at the Shrimp Station. Dragging out chairs every evening to watch the sunset with a glass of wine, returning to cook dinner, laying on the beach after dinner to marvel at the stars, and falling asleep to the sound of the waves relaxes us beyond belief (as evidenced by my husband's FitBit). So much to do on Kauai! Absolutely love love love this house!"

"We have stayed in this beautiful home in Kekaha several times now, and recently spent an incredible two weeks there over the holidays. Our experiences at this home are always so great that we don't bother even looking for other places to stay when we have the chance to go to Hawaii. The house is spacious and beautiful --- well appointed and very comfortable. The yard is large and fun, lots of room for the kids to run around and play. The home is right on the beach, so we would often start our days walking the beach and playing in the surf, then would spend hours each day in the pool, in the hot tub, watching whales from the lanai. The caretaker Neil is always incredibly helpful whenever we need something. And the west side of Kauai is beautiful, quiet, and yet within easy reach of everything we enjoy doing --- scuba, snorkeling, boating the Napali coast, kayaking a gentle river, hiking the canyon, discovering beautiful beaches. We just returned ... and can't wait to go back!"
