  • Hawaiian Home Away From Home!

"I stayed here from July 2013 to February 2014 for long term work at PMRF. Very short drive to the base. Right across the street from the ocean, where people are always fishing. A few steps away from MacArthur Beach, which is a great place to go play in the ocean and lay on the beach. Comfy bed, fairly modern appliances (including full size fridge, stove and oven, flat screen TV w/cable, microwave), wireless internet (not a strong signal but enough to get by), washer and dryer downstairs in the garage, as well as beach chairs and boogy boards and bikes for borrow during your stay. Open up balcony doors at night and enjoy dinner outside under the stars. It's a well maintained apartment and the owners will do all they can to help you out if you have any problems during your stay. You will become accustomed to nats, geicos, lizards, and spiders, and chickens of course. It's not the apartment, it's the location. Waimea and Kekaha have a little less going on then Poipu and Lihue, but they have some jewels like Kalapaki Joe's, the Waimea Theater, Wrangler's, and Ishihara Market. Also go further west 15 minutes and you can camp at the most beautiful beach on the island, Poli Hale State Park (slept on the sand in a sleeping bag under the stars...was incredible). All in all Great Location, Great Apartment, Great Time! It's true what they say "West Side is the Best Side!""

  • Pakala Perfection

"6 of us stayed for 1 week over Christmas 2011 to celebrate my uncle's 60th birthday. We were blown away by the location and beautiful setting. Each day there were surfers out front and whale watching from the lanai. The beaches to the north were undeveloped and we enjoyed daily long walks (bug free!) to explore the flora and fauna. What wonderful water--what sunsets--what privacy! The kitchen had every amenity you could ask for: coffee grinder, electric can opener, 2 ovens, 2 refrigerators, wine glasses, aperitif glasses, fine China, serving platters, dishsoap, paper towels, etc. The portable gas grill was spotlessly clean and right off the kitchen. The rooms were comfortable and had direct outside access to the lanai. This made for additional privacy. We really liked the bedroom to bathroom ratio--no one had to share. This was an easy trip--easy to check in and check out, easy access to Waimea canyon and the ocean. The wireless internet access was a real plus and the laundry room was stocked and roomy with a drying rack for swimwear. We hardly ate out because it was nicer to BBQ and hang out on the lanai to take in the view. We needed to receive and send a few faxes during the trip and the management office was extremely accommodating and helpful, calling when a fax arrived, etc.. Other than some zealous roosters, we have no complaints."

  • What a GREAT week!!

"We just got home after a wonderful week in Kauai, staying at this property! The pictures are accurate (if not understated) and the home was incredibly comfortable for the 6 of us. Yes, there is a road directly in front of the property but the road noise did NOT detract from our enjoyment of the awesome lanai or hinder the amazing views, which were breathtaking. If there was anything that could be done to upgrade the home, it would be to add a King bed to the master suite in the main house. The queen bed was comfortable enough but the room is very large and could easily accommodate a king bed. The master bath shower was FANTASTIC!! All in all, 6 thumbs up from our crew and we'd definitely stay here again!!"

  • Wonderful stay in KAUAI

"HALE 'ILIMA is the best...losts of windows, beautiful view, bright and airy. Everything you would want in a beach house. All you need to buy is the food of your choice. It is convient to stores and best beaches on Island. It was wonderful for me. I was here to work for 6 weeks and it was great to come from work to a beautiful house rather than a hotel room. You will have a great stay."
