  • Beautiful, quiet getaway

"Wow! The home and the setting are just grand. This was the perfect 1 week getaway for our family. We have four kids age 7 and under. They loved the hot tub and Neil's kitty cat. My wife and I loved the views and the fully capable kitchen. The grill was also a plus, because the options for eating out on the southwest coast are a little limited. Neil is a superb property manager and a very nice person. We inadvertently left behind my daughter's "puppy blanket." Neil found it and mailed it back to us just a few days later. The Xbox was a nice addition, but the kids were having so much fun with everything else, they forgot about it within a day. Note: a wire fence runs along the entire length of the property abutting the beach, and there is no gate. You'd either have to hop the fence (challenging, and I'm not sure that's okay with the owner), or you'd have to walk out the driveway and south down the road for about 50 yards to the public opening to the beach. Also of note: We loved having our toddlers with us, but if you have little ones, and plan to travel the island extensively, get a rental vehicle with an entertainment system. We'd definitely love to stay here again!"

  • WOW!!! What a great rental!

"The rooms are very clean and extremely comfortable. If you are looking to sit on the beach, relax and watch the sunset every night, this is the perfect rental. It is a short, one block walk, and your feet are already in the sand! I have been to Kauai on 3 different trips and this location is the best. Completely away from the road noise and crowds on the east side. It is also super close to either road up to Waimea Canyon and the Kalalau Valley lookout. If it is cloudy one day, you can just drive up again the next!! This house has EVERYTHING, down to a cheese grater and ice cream scoop. (which we used every day!) Unlike most rentals that do not have more than 4 forks. Washer, dryer, clothes line, grill, beach towels and chairs…the list goes on and on and on. Cannot wait to rent this one again!!!"

  • Great place and great location!

"My stay, and the condo especially, was great. I was very happy to not be cooped up in a hotel the whole time. Thanks a lot! Brian"

  • Comfortable, casual and well-equipped

"Hale Lokahi is a nice home with all of the basics and a few extras. It’s comfortable and casual – perfect for a Kaua’i vacation We use VRBO almost exclusively when we travel, we particularly appreciated that this house had: • Ample towels - for bath, beach and kitchen • Beach chairs • Gas Grill • Outdoor table & chairs • Covered deck If possible, you should arrive at the house before you do any shopping. The house is very well equipped and well stocked. Sarah, the property manager, is a gem. We encountered 2 issues and Sarah was responsive and helpful with both. I do want to emphasize that neither was a problem with the home itself (in one case the city briefly turned off water w/o notifying anyone, and the other was a Time Warner issue w/ the internet). One benefit of running into these issues, is that we got a chance to meet Sarah, she really is a wonderful person. All renters can take comfort in knowing she is around if you should need her. We love the location. It's away from the major tourist areas, just steps to Ishihara Market, and an easy drive to numerous beaches and other sites. The views of the beach from the deck are magnificent, and the sounds of the waves are hypnotic. As others have mentioned, it's not the most pristine water due to the proximity of the river. It should be noted that people do drive onto the beach - so you will have some "traffic". Just part of the local flavor. Finally, we appreciated the flexibility of being able to have a late checkout before our red-eye flight back to the mainland for a reasonable rate. Leaving paradise is never easy, but having a late checkout makes it so much more convenient."
