  • Home Away From Home

"Perfectly comfortable home. Everything necessary was there, even for trips to the beach. Nice quiet part of the island. Hope to return someday soon."

  • Beautiful, quiet getaway

"Wow! The home and the setting are just grand. This was the perfect 1 week getaway for our family. We have four kids age 7 and under. They loved the hot tub and Neil's kitty cat. My wife and I loved the views and the fully capable kitchen. The grill was also a plus, because the options for eating out on the southwest coast are a little limited. Neil is a superb property manager and a very nice person. We inadvertently left behind my daughter's "puppy blanket." Neil found it and mailed it back to us just a few days later. The Xbox was a nice addition, but the kids were having so much fun with everything else, they forgot about it within a day. Note: a wire fence runs along the entire length of the property abutting the beach, and there is no gate. You'd either have to hop the fence (challenging, and I'm not sure that's okay with the owner), or you'd have to walk out the driveway and south down the road for about 50 yards to the public opening to the beach. Also of note: We loved having our toddlers with us, but if you have little ones, and plan to travel the island extensively, get a rental vehicle with an entertainment system. We'd definitely love to stay here again!"

  • Kekaha Sunset Cottage No Ka Oi

"Aloha oe Tony, our 7-day stay at the Kekaha Sunset Cottage was perfect. The property is located about 26 miles west of Lihue, (about a 40 minute drive). The kitchen is fully equipped and has everything you will need. All appliances worked well. The only thing we needed to supply was the food we wanted to eat. We were able to utilize the Navy Exchange facilities at Barking Sands to that end. There is one market in Kekaha and 2 in Waimea that you can purchase food items. The decorations in the house are minimal and done in a Hawaiian motif; I especially liked the chart of Kaua'i in the main hallway. Sunset Cottage is located in a neighborhood that is real Hawaii, not a resort. The house is located away from all of the resort properties and the associated crowds that are drawn to them. It is located 2 short blocks from a non-crowded beach area, (even during Prince Kuhio Day) where you can watch fantastic sunsets each night. After enjoying your day or night at the beach, an outdoor shower can be used to rinse off prior to entering the house. There are beach towels and chairs available for use along with a washer/dryer to clean your clothes for the next days adventure. This side of the island is very arid, we had no rain at all in Kekaha during our stay, while it poured in Poipu, Lihue and the North Shore on various days. This does tend to make it a little warmer than other areas of the island. There was a farmers market in Kekaha on Saturday starting at 0900 but items were mostly gone by 1030. However, good deals and delicious fruit were to be had if you got there early. You must try the apple banana (they are shaped like a small Chiquita banana but have a slight green apple taste). The less traveled back way to Waimea Canyon is located close by which leads you to the Grand Canyon of Hawaii. There are numerous hiking opportunities in this park. In addition, Waimea is a short 3 miles down the road and there is so much history in this town, you can spend an entire day exploring this quaint town. There is a 90-minute walking tour with historical markers pointing out the major items. Waimea also hosts the oldest monkey pod tree on Kauai. Also, stop by Jo-Jo’s for the best shaved ice on the island (shameless plug), but the service can be slow. Kekaha Sunset Cottage No Ka Oi, Mahalo nui loa Tony, for allowing us the use of your wonderful house. Looking forward to our next visit to Kauai and the wonderful Kekaha Sunset Cottage"

  • Amazing Home

"We had a fabulous 10 day stay in Kauai, thanks to this beautiful home. It truly is amazing...completely stocked kitchen, big bedrooms with attached bathroom, decorated very nicely. The large lanai overlooks the ocean - you can watch the whales, see the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. We cooked most of our meals at the house, so really saved money on not eating out. There were 5 of us and we had plenty of room, but privacy if that was what we wanted. The owners (Ed & Annette) were so easy to work with and so helpful. Although we had contact information for their property manager, we never felt the need to contact her. We went to the Smith Family Luau - well worth the money and a must-see. We highly recommend this home to anyone. You won't be disappointed."
