"I found out earlier in the year that my services were needed at the PMRF to support a NASA Balloon Launch. Since I had never been to the PMRF or Hawaii for that matter I was referred to the VRBO website. After looking at few spots on the westside of Kauai I settled on the Hale Kekaha for my long term stay. The location was absolutely perfect! Literally across the street from the beach so beach access was never an issue. In fact with the windows open and the ceiling fans on I had the best sleep ever away from home especially with the sound of the surf pounding just outside my window. The unit has a fully stocked kitchen with all cooking utensils, pots, pans, etc along with a gas oven, stove top and a microwave. The unit also has full washer and dryers with plenty of washing detergent and fabric softener. There were plenty of bikes, boogie boards and snorkeling equipment for recreational use and there is never ever a shortage of towels, either for the bathroom or for use at the beach. The porch features an outdoor dining table and deck chairs which offers the a great experience for dining or having an evening cocktail. Both the front and back doors feature French style doors with screens to keep the bugs and to cool the house down with a breeze. The landscaping was breath taking and I was able to get excellent shots of rainbows over the ocean with all the coconut palms in the background. There is wireless internet access to keep in touch with the "outside world" and although I never used it they do have a flat screen TV with a DVD player. The sounds of the surf and the view from the front porch was all the entertainment I needed and provided for a very relaxing stay, especially after a long day at work or a fun day of recreation. The location is just minutes away from fine dining in Waimea, the Kikialoa small boat harbor for the Na'Pali tours and road to scenic Waimea Canyon. The only complaint I have is the fact that Highway 50 does separate the property from the beachfront and the sound of automobile traffic can be a very minor distraction from an absolute oasis of relaxation but that is being nit picky! Overall I highly recommend this property for anyone wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of the touristy resort atmosphere of Lihue or Poipu. Kekaha is a very relaxed town and if you did not know any better one would think you were in Main Street, USA but with a beach. As the sign says above the front doors WESTSIDE-BESTSIDE."

"My family and I really enjoyed spending 3 nights at this ocean front, on the sunny west side of Kauai! There is sooo much to do on this side of Kauai and Kevin helped us "plan it all out". Our teenage boys were very happy to make use of the extra double mattress and boxspring each night AND not have to share the sofa couch! Kevin even had tons of beach equipment to "share" when we spent the day at Polihale State Park....sunset and all! This house is in the perfect location for exploring Waimea Canyon and Kokee State Park. It is even walking distance to the Small Boat Harbor...where we took an amazing Na Pali Coast boat ride w/ The Na Pali Experience...snorkling AND going through sea caves too! We even took a day to drive north to Hanalei Bay...enjoying MANY sights along the way! It was so nice to return to our oceanfront property each evening, after being "on the go" each day. The best part of all...the ocean would "sing" us to sleep" and the tradewinds kept us cool!"

"Wow! The home and the setting are just grand. This was the perfect 1 week getaway for our family. We have four kids age 7 and under. They loved the hot tub and Neil's kitty cat. My wife and I loved the views and the fully capable kitchen. The grill was also a plus, because the options for eating out on the southwest coast are a little limited. Neil is a superb property manager and a very nice person. We inadvertently left behind my daughter's "puppy blanket." Neil found it and mailed it back to us just a few days later. The Xbox was a nice addition, but the kids were having so much fun with everything else, they forgot about it within a day.
Note: a wire fence runs along the entire length of the property abutting the beach, and there is no gate. You'd either have to hop the fence (challenging, and I'm not sure that's okay with the owner), or you'd have to walk out the driveway and south down the road for about 50 yards to the public opening to the beach.
Also of note: We loved having our toddlers with us, but if you have little ones, and plan to travel the island extensively, get a rental vehicle with an entertainment system.
We'd definitely love to stay here again!"

"The Blue Lotus is the place to stay. VERY CLEAN AND PERFECT. The house had everything, the rooms were perfect, the kitchen, laundry room, beach stuff, grill, table & chairs and even an outside shower to rinse off after the beach. For a nice sunset view you much sit outside on the porch with your cocktails beautiful. All you need is your personal items and food. It was the perfect place to stay and mins. away from the Race Track in Mana where we were going to for the 4th of July races. I wanted to thank Mr. Worner for making everything very simple and for his prompt responds. We love this place and will be back in September 2015. I highly recommend staying here."
