  • Beautiful Oceanside condo

"We found this lovely, well-furnished condo to be just as advertised. It had everything we needed for cooking and exploring the island. It was nicely decorated, very clean, comfortable bed, and beach supplies to use. But what we enjoyed most was the view from our 2nd floor lanai about 30 feet from the pounding surf. We found ourselves sitting out there with a cool drink in hand, watching the surfers, the swimming turtles, and the changing colors of the water and sky during different times of the day. The moonlight on the water was the best. There was a "super moon" that week. The location is close to restaurants and roads to anywhere on the island. Although quite expensive, the Beach House Restaurant next door is excellent and has a great view of the sunset. Although I knew it would be hot, this Minnesota girl found the upper 80's temps to be a bit too hot with no air conditioning in the condo. (Even the locals complained about the unusually hot summer.) I was thankful for the ceiling fans and 2 other fans, as well as the night time cool downs. The owner emailed detailed directions to find this place, especially appreciated since we arrived after dark, and instructions for finding the key, the hidden TV, etc. This is a beautiful island and be sure to see as much of it as you can. Although there are no resort-type of amenities at Kuhio Shores, it's a great place to stay and a great value."

  • Wow! Beauty filled with Peace

"From the moment we arrived there was a sense of comfort, then we were overwhelmed by the beauty of the beach. Glenn was prepared and made it very easy to walk in and start enjoying. The beach House is nestled back off the road (no noise) amidst other homes. You rarely know those other homes are even there. With a large rock wall on one side and tall dense shrubs on the other, plus a large solid entry gate, you have a very secure and private environment. Loved It! The yard that faces Sunset beach is just as private, but offers a picture window with palm trees on the sides and waves breaking right in front of you. Paved deck, picnic table, green grass, lounge chairs and you are in Paradise. The yard is blessed to offer some appreciated shade for afternoon resting after a long day on the beach and in the sun. If you love seeing stars and the Milky Way, don't forget to come out at night and look up, stunning is all I can say. We Loved our stay and were saddened to leave. Mahalo Glenn Preston and Sherry"

  • Another Great Stay

"This was our fourth time staying in this unit. Enough said I would imagine. But, I will add that not only is this a great vacation rental but with each passing year the owners make it even better. This time I noticed that there is a new larger television in the bedroom, new beach towels in the lanai closet, new glasses in the kitchen cabinet and a new single shot coffee maker on the counter. They don't settle, the owners continue to tweak and make your stay better time and time again. It's well located, it's comfortable, it's clean and it's well equipped. Kudos..."

  • Great Location!

"This was our first trip to Maui. So glad we found this condo. Great property and beautiful location. Comfortable for our family. Loved the ocean view. Just a few minutes to walk to beach. We appreciated that there are beach umbrellas, chairs, boogie boards, etc. to use. The pool near the edge of the beach was wonderful. Felt like we were at a resort! We highly recommend staying here and hope to be back again in the near future! Thanks Jeffrey!!"

Lanai Travel Tips

The Stuff Holidays are Made of at Lanai Vacation Rentals

Imagine framing the rock cliffs of Lanai, Hawaii in your camera. The unhurried pace allows plenty of opportunities for leisurely activities in a place that inspires daydreams. If you can dream up a watersport, relaxing activity, or view, Lanai vacation rentals will be the place to find this reality. Lanai is one of the smaller Hawaiian Islands as it's only 18 miles in length and 13 miles wide. As someone said, “There are no traffic lights, and this is how the people of Lanai like it.” It is a whole other world on Lanai and most definitely different from Maui which is eight miles away.

Pragmatic Details About Lanai Beach Rentals

Getting to Lanai can be a bit of a concern because it is impossible to fly directly to the island from the lower 48 states or Alaska. Instead, you must travel to Maui and either take a boat or small plane to Lanai City. Once on the island, you may want a rental car to move around to the various locations. Lanai City and Koele are the major cities of the island. Lanai City has a population of 3,193 which does not even make it a city in most people’s eyes but rather a quaint town. Temperatures will remain between 70 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit year-round with about 37 inches of rainfall a year. Lanai City is a bit cooler because of the mountain elevation but you still have shorts-wearing weather to enjoy.

Lanai Condos Near the Golf Clubs

The finest golfing to be found on the island is located in Koele and Manele which are close to some of the Lanai condo locations. The courses are world-class in their championship set-up. If you do not golf, do not worry as there are plenty of activities for non-golfers on the island. Nature-lovers will enjoy the pine Munro Trail where you can lose yourself in the peaceful and well conserved forest. It is possible to look out at the ocean for Spinner dolphins from Hulopoe Bay. They are one of the more aerobatic species of dolphin, granting you a scene that is hard to witness in any other state. If there are no dolphins, spend your time looking in the tide pools for other sea creatures or take a snorkel trip out to the reefs. Diving is a must for anyone who wishes to view the crystal-clear waters from below and the amazingly stocked reefs. Lanai is home to Shipwreck Beach, named for the WWII-era ship that is trapped there.

Historical Sites Found on Lanai

Nature is not the only attraction one can find on Lanai. There are four historical sites you should travel to in between hammock naps and surfing the waves. Lanaihale is a trail which takes you up the 3,370-foot mountain named after George Munro. Munro planted pine trees along the trail. These pine trees came from New Zealand. From the hiking or driving trail, you can spot Oahu, Molokai, Maui, and Kahoolawe. Keahikawelo or the Garden of the Gods is another remarkable feature of Lanai due to the rock tower formations. Those who have visited the area say the garden of rock towers glows in the sunset. Manele Harbor provides more than beautiful views and boats, as it is home to the largest collection of petroglyphs. Finally, for historical sites, there is Kaunolu Village. It was once the favored fishing area for King Kamehameha I. Today, you are able to see the ruins of the village which left behind 85 house platforms and a religious temple.

Cuisines and Fresh Fish on Lanai

Lanai Beach rentals ensure that you have a fully equipped kitchen for cooking fresh fish and seafood you catch during the day. However, if you are ready for something a little different, you can visit the city’s restaurants with their authentic Hawaiian dishes. Many will have a Pacific bent like the Filipino dishes common on the Hawaiian islands.
