  • Fabulous, relaxing and comfortable.

"From the moment we opened the door, this condo was perfect! Our immediate view drew us to through the comfortably appointed living area to the ocean side lanai. The condo was clean and well stocked with whatever anyone might desire for a restful beach vacation. I was a little nervous about renting directly from the owner because of all the negative info on the news about internet scams. My worries were erased when Anne spent almost 45 minutes talking and explaining the area to me by phone. Once we got there, everything was perfect! The beds were comfortable and bathrooms decorated nicely. Each bedroom had its own bath, furnished with nice linens and lots of extra paper products! Since we were travelling with friends, it gave each couple a nice place to relax after a long day of sightseeing and snorkeling. The main living area is equally comfortable. Decorations reflect the history of art and nature on the island, while the lanai allowed the warm, tropical breezes to flow through from ocean to front door. The kitchen has everything you would ever need for food preparation and cooking. We especially loved the blender, which we used for our own happy hour in the afternoons! We spent a few afternoons just hanging around the pool area and on the beautiful, carpet-like grass next to the surf. It was both peaceful and relaxing. Perhaps the best thing about this condo is the location. It is on a quiet, dead end street that eliminates lots of traffic and ends with a public park with a beautiful, sandy beach. Since it is centrally located, we were able to do many day trips to Lahaina, Iao Valley, Haleakula Park, Kihei, etc. None were more than 20 minutes away. We loved the view and were fortunate to be there during the peak whale season. In the morning, we could watch the whales breaching and playing in the surf. Upon closer look, we saw a family of sea turtles that seemed to live along the lava beach directly in front of the condo. Though it was a bit humid during the day, we kept all the windows open and never had to use the air conditioning. In the evening, the sound of waves rolling across the rocks lulled us to sleep. The only way that this place could be improved would be a laundry directly in the unit and parking in the condo parking lot. As it was, the laundry was on the same level and just two doors down. However, since that is something that the owners have no control over, I wouldn't fault them. We definitely will return! Thanks"

  • Nicest Property in Maalaea

"It is always difficult to start a review...so many good things to say. This property, by far, is the nicest, cleanest and most well kept of any on the Maalaea condo strip. The property is older, probably from the early 70s, but the exterior has a reasonably new coat of paint, the pool is perfect (and bath water warm), and has an elevator making each floor accessible. The parking space for the unit is...well, right there in front of the unit. It couldn't be any closer or more convenient. The interior has lots of mirrors (very '70s) making it look a little larger. The kitchen was nice and well equiped. The bedrooms are spacious, with more mirrors. Master has a king size; 2nd Bedroom was set up with a king that is convertable to two twins. The furniture on the lanai is functional, and the ocean couldn't be closer (30 feet from the window) unless you were in it. The sounds lull you to sleep every night. Bathrooms were both clean and functional, with lots of hot water and good pressure. The WiFi was great and easily supported our 4 users. The outdoor, communal grills were AWESOME...professional grade, very new and clean, and ready to use! To improve your stay (or set your expectations), the following items should be noted: The unit does NOT have air conditioning, but the constant breeze (15-20 kts ALL THE TIME) is perfect to cool the unit, both day and night. Leaving the windows open does create a thin layer of dust inside the unit, but it is what it is. Also, the unit does NOT have a washer dryer. There is one shown in the pictures, but we didn't read the unit details closely, and it clearly says washer dryer is on the floor, but not in the unit. Finally, there is not a beach in front of or near the property. It is a retaining wall with rocks at the ocean level. There is a point of ocean access, but only for the adventurous that wish to climb over the rocks. There is a beach at the end of the road, at least two hundred yards east of the property. This wasn't convenient for our teenagers who like to play in the waves and snorkel. We had a wonderful stay, and the location of the condo (in relationship to other areas of Maui) was extremely convenient. Easy to Lahaina, easy to Kihei, easy to the Airport and north shore. We hope to visit Maui again, and if we make it back, we'll call Dawn and Dean. Thanks."

  • Fabulous Condo in a beautiful area

"We stayed in Lauloa 309 in Maalaea for five nights in mid June. The condo was exceptional. It was very clean, very nice and updated, and had everything we could possibly need. The view from the lanai is spectacular. We didn't see any whales because of the time of year, but we watched a lot surfers. Check-in and check-out were completely painless. We just found the unit and entered the door code we had been sent when we reserved it. Checkout was equally easy. The only downside to the unit was that the air conditioner was loud and it was pretty hot the week we were there so we did need to run it at night. It wasn't something you couldn't sleep through, but if you're a light sleeper it might bother you. I think we were just there at a particularly hot time, though. (And the beds were really comfortable so I'm sure that helped!) The immediate area doesn't have much in the way of restaurants. There is the General Store and a couple of small places near the marina. Most nights we went into Kihei to eat, which is about 15(ish) minutes away. The other thing that might be an issue for some people is the beach, which is a 5-minute walk down the road to the left, is pretty rocky under the water and you don't always see them. We had to go buy bandaids after swimming there because everyone ended up getting slammed into them at some point. Maybe we just needed to find a different spot. The water was also particularly rough while we were there (a south swell that lasted longer than usual), so maybe that had something to do with it as well. But overall, we loved the place. The location was great for seeing the rest of the island. We also did the Four Winds Molokini snorkeling trip, which was awesome!"
