  • Perfect beach front condo

"We enjoyed falling asleep to the sounds of the waves crashing every night and sitting on our walk out patio drinking wine and coffee. The condo is perfect and has everything you need! I'll never forget this beautiful place because we ended up getting engaged while visiting here!"

  • Kanai a Nalu

"My family has stayed twice in this unit. This is a gem of a unit and resort. It is really, really ocean front. It is also very affordable for oceanfront. We loved walking the beach to the reserve. We also loved playing in the waves just a little south of the resort and finding sea urchin spines to collect. Maalaea is inbetween Kihie and Lahaina. That makes any kind of activity you would like to do very acessible. For activities on the water, you are within walking distance of Maalaea Bay. If you like the "tucked in", quiet retreat, this is wonderful. Next door to the resort is a private residence that is used for private parties. Very laid back. In other resorts, you will have to pay for parking and still won't find a convenient space. Not so here, we always found parking either close to the stairs if we were in a climbing mood or close to elevators if we were not. The lanai is big enough for 4 people and the views are awesome. We would sit and watch the Pacific Whale Foundation boats start out in the morning to go to Maalaea Harbor and then return to their moorings in the late afternoon each day. I have not had the privilege of being in this unit during whale season, but I have heard it is wonderful viewing. If you want to be seen by everyone else and stay in a glitzy place, this is not the one. If you want to stay in a lovely place and appreciate the laid back Hawaiian experience, this is wonderful!"

  • Comfortable but dated

"I do not have any major complaints about the condo. It has all the amenities listed on the site. The location is central to Kahalui and Lahaina. The patio has a side view of the sunrise which can be view once outside. The master bedroom got warm at night since there is no air conditioner but there was an occasional breeze that flowed through to cool things off a bit. The decor and furniture were dated and dusty. There was an overall sense of mildew in the air. Overall, the room accomplished its function, but first impression was not good!"

  • Paradise!

"This was our second stay at this wonderful condo and it definitely won't be our last. It is the the best unit in the complex. While this condo is centrally located and a great base from which to explore Maui, you will be hard pressed to find a better place to enjoy the coastline. You are literally right on the water here and, unlike many of the complexes listed in this area, there are miles of white sand to walk on. Sitting on the lani in this 4th floor unit is great for watching surfers and passing boats. This trip we were twice visited by turtles who came to play in the waves just below us."

Maalaea Travel Tips

Enjoy Maalaea Vacation Rentals in Central Maui

Maalaea is a district located in Central Maui, which is six miles from Wailuku. You'll find Ma'alaea where Honoapi'ilani Highway, also known as Highway 30, meets the south coast. This prime location makes it a favorite hot spot for tourists. Tourists looking to emerge themselves in the culture and society of Maui often choose one of the Maalaea vacation rentals available on the island--allowing them the comforts of home surrounded by the locals.

The Comfort of Maalaea Vacation Rentals

Maalaea vacation rentals range from Central Maui beach rentals to Maalaea condos, so there is an accommodation to fit almost any need and taste in the area. Central Maui beach rentals offer guests direct access to the beach, sun, water activities and more. Most of the Central Maui beach rentals are Maalaea condos, with some running along Maalaea Bay. Other rental options include single-family homes, which offer you the chance to mingle with the locals and still find private respite in your home when the mingling is over.

Ma'alaea Beach Fun

One of the primary attractions for visitors is Ma'alaea Beach. Ma'alaea Beach is three miles long, stretching from Ma'alaea Harbor to Sugar Beach on the east. Visitors to the beach do not tend to flock Ma'alaea Beach for relaxing in the sand and sun. On the contrary, Ma'alaea Beach is known for high winds, which makes it a prime location for surfing the big waves and windsurfing. When you come in out of the sun (and the wind), you can enjoy a meal you've made in your full-equipped Maalaea vacation rental or take a nap in one of the private bedrooms. For nights when cooking isn't on the agenda, restaurants, cafes and shops are readily available. Buzz's Wharf Restaurant is a local favorite along with The Blue Marlin and Bamboo Bistro.
