"We Loved It!!! Quaint cottage with themed bedrooms: Hula Girl Room, Pineapple Room, & Surfboard Room. Centrally located with shopping and restaurants nearby. Kihei Kalama Village (marketplace) was just a short drive away. Beach within walking distance. Stocked with everything you need and then some! Our family enjoyed our stay at the Hale Mahalo and have already shared this special location with friends and family. Will be visiting again! Thank you Joy & Don for a wonderful stay."

"This is certainly a beautifully kept plantation home moved from its original spot on a plantation to its current local. You can feel the historical charm in the main house. It is a very comfortably furnished and private feeling with a courtyard like patio. The beaches in town were lovely, especially Beach 2. The house is well equipped for an extended stay with many cooking utensils and dishes. There is also beach equipment and bikes in the garage. The only complaints we have is there is not adequate air conditioning in the main house. We were there in 90° weather with heat index close to 100°. The kitchen was unbearable in the afternoon and the bedrooms uncomfortable to sleep in. This could easily be remedied with additional ac units in the kitchen and bedrooms. There is only one ac in the main home. Our other complaint was the neighbors barking dogs who loved to bark through the night. It's okay if your a sound sleeper but my daughter and her husband were in the cottage and found it difficult to sleep. If the house needs to have quiet time after 9 pm for the neighbors sake then I feel they should comply as well. We also rented the detached studio which was the most comfortable temperature wise and well furnished for a short stay. If the air conditioning issue was addressed I would certainly stay here again."

Beautiful home + Unbeatable Beachfront Location = Fabulous Family Vacation
"This was our first time visiting Maui and it certainly won't be our last! This beautiful home truly helped make our vacation special. Our group consisted of 4 adults and 2 older "kids" (17 and 21). We aren't a "resort-type" family--we prefer accommodations that allow for a more peaceful and private getaway--this beachfront home exceeded our expectations, while being close in proximity to everything we needed (including fabulous restaurants--"Coconuts" is within walking distance and should not be missed, and great snorkeling) . We never tired of walking across the lawn every morning with our coffee cups and beach chairs to watch the sea turtles poking their heads up and listen to the waves--no better way to start a day. Evenings found us gathered on the lanai watching the sunset, waiting for one of the neighbors to blow their conch shell acknowledgement of another sunset in Maui! Every sunrise and sunset could be enjoyed directly from this home and we took advantage of every one. The beach directly in front of the home is sandy and very swimmable--great for smaller children--not so great for snorkeling, but as I mentioned great snorkeling could be found within a 5-10 minute drive through Kihea. Having never been to Maui before we feel so fortunate that we found this rental home as it allowed us a home base of unparallelled beauty and a very convenient location from which to branch out and see much of the Island."

"We had a great vacation using this duplex. The only reason we did not give it 5 stars was because we really missed having AC, and the homeless problem on Maui was front and center. Complete with drunks sleeping under the bushes, selling "newspapers" from the empty lot next door, and nude bathing (with a dance!) right in front of the house - on the hill to make sure our whole family (including 9 and 10 yo girls) got the show. I would recommend this place to any adults who want private, kihei location - but not for families."
