  • Would do it again

"Half of our ten-day Maui vacation was spent at this comfortable beach home. For our group of 9 (3 generations, ages 6 to 79), we chose this site for close access to water activities, especially snorkeling and a trip to Molokini. The house is modern, well furnished and maintained, and the management had provided careful instructions about parking, trash pickup, and other details. Our contact was very prompt and thorough in responding to our questions. The beach is just beyond the back lawn well supplied with palms and other trees. It is pleasant to take the furnished lawn chairs into the shade and watch the local egrets as they shuttle up and down the flyway. A small flock of chickens enjoy the freedom of the large back yard, unmarred by fences. Don footwear on your first trip to the beach. The sandy path collects nuts and twigs dropped from the trees. While on the narrow beach watch closely and try to spot the tiny translucent crab-like sand residents as they scamper away from your path; they are invisible when not moving. Swimming and snorkeling are probably better on other stretches of Kihei beaches, but here you might see parasailers and windsurfers hot-dogging when wind and waves get lively in the afternoon. Keep your eyes open for the geckos that are common in these climates. We detected one that seemed to hang out behind a picture on the downstairs wall, and a (different?) one that lived behind a light fixture outside below the upstairs veranda. Kihei is warm in August and some other months. Other reviewers have written, correctly, that AC would be nice. But when you are in Hawaii, on Maui, relax and enjoy it as it is. We all had an absolutely great time at this place. If we ever need a Maui rental home of this size, we'll be sure to consider it."

  • Excellent home

"Exactly as advertised! Clean, clean, clean! You really do not need air conditioning. Walking distance to beaches and several restaurants. Best equipped kitchen that we have ever had at a rental. Felt like home. Kudos to the owners for providing an excellent experience and value. Hope to be back someday."

  • Loved it!

"My husband and I have been to Maui a couple of times before, but this was our best trip yet. We loved staying at the house and having the ocean and beach as our backyard. We treasure the sound of the ocean that can be heard throughout the house, which lead to amazing nights sleep. I agree with most of the reviews so won't repeat them all. It was good to know in advance about the homeless in the area, which wasn't an issue for me although may have been had I not known in advance. The budget was more than what we planned on spending for just the two of us, but was well worth the cost for the experience. The only other items to take note of are that the neighbors in the condo attached can be heard with the kids running around and the sun shines through the skylight onto the master bedroom in the morning (while we were there), so if you're not normally an early riser you will be or you'll wake up super hot. But I dream of going back and enjoying Papa Ouli's home again. I thank you for offering up your home allowing us to experience its wonderfulness!"

  • Great Beach Rental

"We stayed in this adorable rental for a little over a month while we transistioned from the mainland to Maui. Upon arrival we were very pleased with the rental. It has plenty of space for a couple or small family. We loved having a private driveway behind locked gates. We brought two dogs with us and we all enjoyed the private back yard. The house has great access to Kihei. You are down the street from everything! Stores, bars, restaurants, and, of course, the beach. We walked our dogs to the beach every day and sometimes would return with coffee or pizza in hand. A car isn't necessary unless you want to leave Kihei but then you could always just rent a mo-ped down the street! The only draw back to being so close to everything is the traffic noise. The house is directly on South Kihei Road which is the main street of the town. The family who lives in the main house and takes care of the property is awesome! They were always available if we had a question or maintenance issue. They are all friendly and open to chit-chat but they also respect your space and privacy. We were a little put-off by the owner (not the same as the property care-takers) at times. During our stay there were a couple of maintenance issues. When we spoke to the owner she would ask us to personally repair/handle the issues. We were disappointed to be asked to take care of things when we were paying vacation rental rates. We quickly learned it was more efficient and less labor intensive to speak with property care-takers. We are so happy we stayed at this rental because it was there that we fell in love with Kihei Town. We now live less than a mile from this sweet beach house!!"

Private Homes Travel Tips

Live Like a Local With Kihei House Rentals

Many people like vacationing because it offers them the ability to experience a whole new atmosphere or environment. What better way to experience the local scene then by actually staying in a local house? Next time you're vacationing to the South Maui area, consider choosing one of the many Kihei house rentals that are available to visitors. The ability to feel like a local is just one of the many advantages of this style of Kihei lodging. Other advantages include larger living space, freedom to roam around, and more privacy. What better way to vacation then choosing to stay at one of the [[http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/usa/hawaii/maui/south-maui South Maui and Kihei vacation rentals]?

Take in the Scenic Views From a Motorcycle

When you stay in the South Maui and Kihei areas, you can rent out motorcycles. While the views from the Kihei house rentals may be spectacular, vacationers have the ability to see picturesque views of the beaches, waves, and waterfront from a rented motorcycle. Just hop on the bike and take a long drive down the highway located just minutes away from any Kihei lodging. Feel the wind in your hair as you enjoy the island on your own time.

Take Dinner With the Locals

Food is a great way to experience the local atmosphere, and finding a little known hot spot that is close to your Kihei lodging is a great way to feel like a local. While many people head for name-brand dining establishments, a local might head to a restaurant like Three's Bar and Grill. Many locals hang out at this dining establishment, and the water views and seafood are excellent. Sit back, relax and enjoy the atmosphere. Take your catch of the day or fresh fruit from the farmer's market back to Kihei house rentals and prepare a meal just the way you like it.
