  • Best place for a winter get away

"I have just finished a little over 3 week stay in Bryan and Suzi’s studio condo and it was pretty great! Their recent renovations have improved the condo immensely. The locals will tell you that this has not been a great winter weather wise for them but for those of us on vacation it was not bad. I managed to miss the rain except for the last day but did have several days of more wind than I am used to. I know this is unusual. The condo is very well equipped and certainly comfortable and cozy. The bathroom and shower are spacious and clean. The new kitchen is really nice although I would prefer a double sink when there is no dishwasher. Suzi explained that they opted for more counter space which is certainly nice as well. At first I thought the dishes etc were a little sparse but in actual fact there was everything I needed even when I entertained for dinner a couple of times. My guests love to come over and enjoy the sunset from the lanai – perfect view. And whales to boot! This year the resort was actually enforcing the ‘No Glass in the Pool area and BBQ area’ and fortunately this condo had adequate plastic glasses, plates and pans to take there. A couple of tinfoil plates to take smaller items to the BBQ are easily purchased if needed. Nice touches like hand soap, and dish soap as well as a starter of TP and paper towel are provided. Special laundry detergent is also supplied by the resort for free at the office. And a new portable drying rack means those of us who like a 'green option' can hang up some items to dry! Nice. Bryan and Suzi are very accommodating and easy to work with. They respond almost immediately to either email or phone inquiries and seem to go the extra mile for their guests. I have stopped spreading the word around that Kihei Akahi is really the best complex in the best location in all of Kihei. So convenient to walked directly across the street to a wonderful beach that never seems to be tooooo crowded. Great for days when it is just too hot to bother driving to another beach (this is nice to do some days as well). Local amenities are more than adequate nearby."

  • Exactly as advertised and owner is wonderful!

"I'll add my voice to the many who say this condo is a great one and Denise (the owner) is wonderful. The view is great, the condo is clean and comfortable, and everything you need is within easy walking distance. The email you receive a couple of weeks before your stay is so full of great information that it's unbelievable! I've never had such great detail before a trip. I will mention two things that might save a few bucks, and illustrate one of the many things that make this one a winner: 1) Avoid shopping for anything until you have checked in. It is highly likely that the people before you left a lot of unopened food, drinks, and condiments. 2) Don't buy or rent beach stuff for the same reason. There is a bunch of it in the closet that Denise provides for her guests. Beach chairs, towels, boogie boards, fins, masks, snorkels, goggles, buckets, etc. I will DEFINITELY stay in Denise's condo again and HIGHLY recommend it to your family."

  • Affordable, Great Location, Comfy Bed, Well Stocked!

"My husband and I left the kids behind for a 5-year anniversary trip and it was truly a great getaway! We arrived at Kihei Akhai at about midnight in our arrival date. The late check-in process was quick and painless. The condo was perfectly located for the activities we would want to do during our stay: beach, pool, golf, scuba, tennis, etc. It was also close to restaurants and groceries. We would say the location was "excellent" and that is the most important thing to us. The condo was by no means spotless, but it was clean enough. I knew what to expect based on the pictures provided in the ad and the pictures were accurate. I was, however thrown off by the following statement in the ad: "It has been completely renovated in the last year. Almost everything in this beautiful unit is brand new." As a renovator and landlord myself, I feel that this is a deceiving statement. The only thing that we could see was "new"ish is the carpet in the living room and bedroom and maybe some furniture. Everything else was very very dated. Coming back to my comment re: cleanliness, I felt that it was as clean as it could have been considering the sheer age of the shower, counters, tile, appliances, etc. The condo was well stocked with beach gear, which is something that we appreciated! Also, we were provided with plenty of towels and cooking utensils. The air conditioning cooled the living room and kitchen very well and with the assistance of the fan in the bedroom we were also a good temperature when we slept. There is a window above the closets in the bedroom that leads out to the hallway and it is not a fixed pane of glass. There wasn't very much sound proofing from the hallway and when someone walked down the hallway talking it sounded like they were in our room! However, this seemed to be a common form of "window" throughout Maui. Our flight did not leave until 11:30pm on our check out date so I requested a late checkout. I was denied which was a slight disappointment. It would have been nice to have a nap and shower in the early afternoon to make the most of our day. Just a suggestion for future renters: request your late checkout on your first day. Maybe they will be more accommodating? Anyways, we had a fabulous time in Maui and enjoyed Kihei Akhai very much. We would stay in this property again and would suggest it to others. If you plan on spending a lot of time in your condo, perhaps pay the $200+/night for luxury. if not, this is perfect! Thanks!"
