"We have stayed in this unit for seven years now. The owners are super nice & easy to work with. They keep the unit well stocked & maintained. They take pride in their little piece of paradise & it shows. This time we noticed they had gotten a new water heater (not sure why as the other one worked great last year, but they keep this place up), nice shiny new air conditioner that kicks butt...plus there is an "Eco" mode which works great & uses less energy, new black out type curtains. They try & have the essentials there for you. Little things like laundry detergent, zip locks, dish detergent, coffee filters...surprisingly these little touches really add up in Maui. Have you ever shopped at any of the local grocery stores, expensive. The bed is amazing! The linens (sheets & towels) are great. Not cheap hotel type stuff. I think it was last year they got a new sofa, it is a pull out bed & comfortable too. You can tell that they use their unit as well & want to be comfortable when they are there as well. Another guest wrote that the pictures do not do this place justice...Ditto that! They are always updating & maintaining & I am guessing that they don't always take updated pictures to show off what they have done. There is a "toy" basket with plenty of masks & snorkel gear (only a few fins, but you can rent those cheap) boogie boards, taller chairs, low chairs, mats, etc...The pool / hot tub / BBQ area is a hidden gem & best kept secret. We were there nine days this time & used the hot tub every evening, there was never anyone else there with us! The owners have great suggestions for different adventures just ask them. We have never gone in May, but they had such a great deal for our stay we couldn't pass it up. Yes, this is street side unit, yes you hear the road noise during the day, but about 5:30pm the road noise really dies down & trade winds pick up. It is perfect to set out on the lanai & eat dinner & drink a fruity drink. This unit actually has a very nice view of the ocean. No it isn't what it used to be, but nothing to complain about. Awesome sunsets! When we first started renting this unit I asked the owners why Kihei Bay Surf & they both said location. They hit it spot on, this location is perfect. Basically everything is about 20mins away...No not Hana, but that's Hana. Thank you for sharing your place with us. Ready to head back next year! "My husband and I stayed at Travis's condo for 10 days in September. From the get-go, Travis and his property owner Janice were super helpful and made arranging for our perfect vacation so easy! We arrived to a very clean condo, everything in its place and all amenities accounted for. We relaxed like locals in the best location on Maui. This condo is so central to every place you would want to explore. The pool & spa was an excellent perk but better than that is a practically private beach a stones throw across the road. We watched the sunset nearly every night without every having to get in the car or drive anywhere. We even waded around the shore break area and saw giant sea turtles! Staying at this condo was a truly wonderful experience. We were able to cook (all cookware and appliances are supplied) and found some excellent huli-huli chicken at a roadside stand just a few blocks north. There's plenty of great food choices either south in Kihei or north to the Laihaina area. I can't say enough good things about this condo. There was snorkel gear, lawn chairs, extra towels, a cooler (which we used to keep our beers cold that we brought to the beach across the street), plenty of parking, and more. I would not hesitate to come back and highly recommend staying here! Hope to be back soon! Thanks so much Travis."Guest: Natalie O. "This condo was great! Sugar Beach was maybe 20 steps away from the front door to the condo and the beautiful Maui sunsets were viewable right from my balcony every evening. The atmosphere around Kihei Sands is great; wake up every morning and there is coffee ready for guests on the back patio. This condo is great a for a solo adventure to Hawaii or a family trip. I'll be recommending Kihei Sands to anyone wanting to take a trip to beautiful Maui!"Guest: Test T. Date of Stay: May 2014 Review Submitted: May 16, 2014View listing
