  • Wish we had stayed longer!

"We rent through vrbo constantly, and THIS CONDO ranks as one of the best we've ever stayed in. We wish we had stayed longer; hopefully we will return one day. PROS: 1. The kitchen! Diane has done a fabulous job stocking the kitchen with everything you could ever need. Often times this is not the case with rentals (cue the flimsy knives and cheap pots and pans). I am a foodie and found everything I needed and then some in her kitchen. She has plenty of dishware, cooking utensils, prep bowls, pyrex dishes, and other gadgets. There is also a nice supply of spices and other odds and ends in the cabinet above the stove. I needed honey for a recipe and a little canola oil and miraculously found it in the cabinet! I paid it forward by leaving some unopened items in the same cabinet. My husband loved one of their travel coffee mugs so much that he bought one online! Only suggestion would be to add a nice chopping knife (the butcher block lacked one). 2. The location! I know many people prefer to stay up in Lahaina, but I disagree. Yes, the water is a bit bluer up there but I really loved Kihei! It's close to the airport (15-20 mins), a 20 minute drive ti Iao needle, and a 10 minute drive to all the activities you'd ever want (like surfing) and yummy restaurants in the downtown Kihei area (must go to the Kihei for breakfast!). The complex is located on the north end of Kihei so the beach isn't crowded at all. In fact, on some days we were the only ones out there. A farmer's market, ABC store, bakery, and perfectly shaved ice are a short walk on the beach away! 3. The breezes! I loved the tradewinds in the afternoon. It was so nice to sit out on the lanai in the evening. It wasn't hot at all. Many evenings entailed my husband grilling downstairs and us eating on the lanai watching the sun fade. Sometimes it can get QUITE breezy, but we felt sheltered on the lanai. We saw multiple rainbows from the lanai, btw. The condo's AC works wonders. 4. The supplies!! This condo has so many supplies beyond the kitchen. There are plenty of towels- bath and beach. We found toys, beach mats, coolers and chairs. They have VERY NICE Tommy Bahama chairs. Yep, I bought some too! **As a side note, we rented the next door condo, too (perfect for grandparents). Diane's unit was way better! One additional suggestion- the King bed is HEAVEN! But the pull out couch not so much. You can feel the bars digging into your back. A memory foam topper would do wonders. THANKS, DIANE!"

  • December on Maui

"If you turn on the radio this time of year, you are bound to hear "The weather outside is frightful . . ." That can be true in Kansas as winter waltzes into town. So this year my wife and I spent ten days on Maui and found it ". . . so delightful." The condo was exactly as described. The instructions were easy to follow even in the dark (we arrived after sunset). The place was clean with everything in good order. I needed to work an hour or so most days; the highspeed internet worked fine every time. If you stream Hulu/Netflix/etc on your laptop, bring a HDMI cable and you're good to go with the 42" HDTV. The Kiehi Bay Vista (KBV) grounds are well maintained and the pool sparkled in the sunlight. Others staying at the KBV were considerate and quiet. We shopped at three grocery stores in Kihei and liked Supermarket Times in Central Kihei the best because of lower prices on some items on our list. Kihei Road is a major arterial, so you hear the traffic. But of course you come to Hawaii for the beaches, not to sit in the condo. We watched sunsets from the beach just across the street and have a few photos that will remind us of the lovely setting. We've been to Maui before, but this was our first time to go Upcountry. We enjoyed the Kula Botanical Garden and the Ali'i Kula Lavender Farm. We've been walking in the sand. It's time to go home and do some "walking in a winter wonderland.""

  • Perfect for a memorable stay in Maui!

"We are a family with 3 teenagers (19, 17 and 15) travelling for the first time to Maui. We selected this condo based on the pictures on the VRBO site and the reviews. The condo is exactly as the pictures. Very nice and very spacious. The description of the condo in VRBO is accurate. The Koa resort is very quiet and beautiful. Many beaches are only few minutes from the condo. Since Kihei is located in central Maui, driving to the west or to the east is never a long road. Kahului, where the Costco and Wal-Mart are, is only 20 minutes from the condo. The owners supply a lot of snorkeling gear which we used to swim with the turtles at Malu'aka Beach (wow!). The owners have prepared a book with many good ideas about the activities and good restaurants in Maui. Like mentioned in the previous review, it is true to say that the owners are fabulous about getting back to you & answering any questions you may had. Very nice people. I also highly recommend this condo unit. Mahalo Elizabeth and Eric for our wonderful stay!"

  • Like a second home in paradise

"My wife and I (and now 2 children) have stayed at Sugar Beach Resort 10 times. The last 6 in this condo. This unit has come to feel like a second home to us. It has the perfect amount of updates and nice furniture to be very comfortable. The kitchen has everything we need, and the lanai furniture is perfect for staring at that priceless view. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner this time and he was the nicest person. We look forward to many more vacations in this condo!"
