"For our 9-night family vacation on Maui, we had the following criteria for finding a place to stay: - two bedrooms (my husband are done with vacations where we share a king-size bed with our toddler and 6 year old, and we aren't big hide-a-bed fans) - right on the beach, no roads to cross - laundry facilities available (Bring quarters with you if you plan to do laundry -- the washing machine is $2/load and the dryer is $1.75/load.) - a beach that's swimmable for the kids and has nice sand for them to play with - centrally located in case we wanted to drive up to Haleakala early in the morning This condo met all the criteria at an amazingly low (for Maui) price, and the owners were great to deal with. The drive to Haleakala was cut short by the toddler's altitude sickness, but the location was ideal anyway -- I don't think there's anywhere (other than the neighbouring condos) in Kihei that's as close to Kahului or the road to Lahaina, and we ended up loving Sugar Beach so much we didn't drive around to other beaches as much as we'd expected to. It was wonderful to be able to just walk from the condo to the ocean and, after a quick stop at the outdoor shower to wash off the sand, head back in for lunch. We only used the pool once -- it was well-maintained but the ocean was better. It was a short walk to the nearby farmer's market, but the rest of Kihei's a quick drive away. The condo was very clean and comfortable, and well stocked with Disney movies for the kids. We used both the sand toys provided by the owners and those provided by Nani Kai Hale in a cabinet by the outdoor bbqs. The complex is quite quiet -- we met many friendly retirees hanging out on the lounge chairs by the beach -- so this may not be the spot for families with teens or young adults."Guest: Christina S. "Overall, we thought this was a great place to stay on Maui and would definitely go back again. The location is excellent. Very central to shopping, restaurants and beaches. Its position on the island makes the entire island easily accessible. The unit itself was very, very clean and well stocked. Everything in good condition and easy to find and use. This is a well maintained condo unit and one that has been well thought out. I highly recommend it."Guest: Marc I. Date of Stay: November 2014 Review Submitted: November 25, 2014View listing
"This condo is beautifully renovated in a Hawaiian style that is just what we hoped for on our vacation to Maui. It is immaculately clean, has a beautiful kitchen with new cabinetry and everything you need. While relaxing on the lanai we enjoyed a view of the ocean & the manicured yard with its inviting pool. Many days we joined the casual get together in the evening at pool side near the BBQ area. We enjoyed trading stories of our adventures and meeting other guests. The central location of the condo is perfect. It is close to shopping, and all of our adventures were just a short drive away. Some days our only activity was just reading a book by the pool and a sunset walk on the beach that is just steps away from Wailana Sands cul-de-sac nook. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and look forward to a return visit in the future!"Guest: Ron Date of Stay: March 2014 Review Submitted: April 29, 2014View listing
