"This is definitely not the Ritz Carlton, but if you're looking for a condo in South Kihei I'd hope that your expectations are adjusted. This condo was perfect for my family of 4 (2 year old and 5 year old) for a week long trip. Here are the condo's strengths:
Close to several beautiful beaches. Kam III offers amazing sunset views, boogie boarding, etc. Ulua is close by, as are many others. You'll probably want to drive, but it's not an issue.
The upper pool near the unit is perfect. It offers a little bit of shade, has bbq's, a bathroom, a vending machine, and beautiful Hawaiian landscaping. If you have kids you'll spend a lot of time here. The water was a great temperature and we spent hours here nearly every day.
The air conditioning was also a welcome luxury. Not all the condos around have it, but I'm glad this one did.
Here are a few trade-offs if you're selecting this unit:
It's not upscale. The carpet, tile, paint, is all a little worn in places. However, you'll probably wear it down a little yourself while you're there.
The kitchen utensils are rudimentary and not maintained. That's probably expected as well, just don't get your hopes up on finding a diamond in the rough.
The master bedroom mattress is very very soft. If you like a soft mattress, you'll love it. If you don't, you won't. I usually don't like a soft mattress but I was so tired every night it was irrelevant.
There's currently very little snorkeling gear, so plan on renting some. I did. While snorkeling I found some additional equipment which I added to the pile, but if you were counting on having it all there, change your mind. Rentals are inexpensive and will be appropriately sized. If there's something in the cabinet that fits you, great, but it didn't work for me.
The owner was very responsive, and while we had some technical issues with the reservation process everything worked out in the end. I thought that the condo was a bargain. Having a portable crib for our daughter helped sell me on the unit, but when we got there she decided that she'd never sleep in one again. She shared the bed with me and my wife. Apart from innumerable kicks to the face it worked out okay. My son was downstairs and had a great time. You'll definitely want a car."
