  • Fantastic!

"We have stayed in this unit for seven years now. The owners are super nice & easy to work with. They keep the unit well stocked & maintained. They take pride in their little piece of paradise & it shows. This time we noticed they had gotten a new water heater (not sure why as the other one worked great last year, but they keep this place up), nice shiny new air conditioner that kicks butt...plus there is an "Eco" mode which works great & uses less energy, new black out type curtains. They try & have the essentials there for you. Little things like laundry detergent, zip locks, dish detergent, coffee filters...surprisingly these little touches really add up in Maui. Have you ever shopped at any of the local grocery stores, expensive. The bed is amazing! The linens (sheets & towels) are great. Not cheap hotel type stuff. I think it was last year they got a new sofa, it is a pull out bed & comfortable too. You can tell that they use their unit as well & want to be comfortable when they are there as well. Another guest wrote that the pictures do not do this place justice...Ditto that! They are always updating & maintaining & I am guessing that they don't always take updated pictures to show off what they have done. There is a "toy" basket with plenty of masks & snorkel gear (only a few fins, but you can rent those cheap) boogie boards, taller chairs, low chairs, mats, etc...The pool / hot tub / BBQ area is a hidden gem & best kept secret. We were there nine days this time & used the hot tub every evening, there was never anyone else there with us! The owners have great suggestions for different adventures just ask them. We have never gone in May, but they had such a great deal for our stay we couldn't pass it up. Yes, this is street side unit, yes you hear the road noise during the day, but about 5:30pm the road noise really dies down & trade winds pick up. It is perfect to set out on the lanai & eat dinner & drink a fruity drink. This unit actually has a very nice view of the ocean. No it isn't what it used to be, but nothing to complain about. Awesome sunsets! When we first started renting this unit I asked the owners why Kihei Bay Surf & they both said location. They hit it spot on, this location is perfect. Basically everything is about 20mins away...No not Hana, but that's Hana. Thank you for sharing your place with us. Ready to head back next year! Aloha"

  • can't wait to come back!

"Hello! My family has a unit in the 2nd building (1 BR) but it was all booked up for the month of January and since my travel group included 4 adults, getting a larger space just worked out perfectly! Your space and decor is gorgeous. I'd most definitely request it or recommend it to people that preferred a unit in the first building or needed the space! Having the living room space to just hang out was really nice. The view from the balcony was also gorgeous! Loved the plastic furniture (for drying scuba gear) and the nicer wood tall chairs and tables. Towels for bath and beach were plentiful and it was nice to have the extra beach amenities too (although we all brought our own scuba gear). Oh, went to Makawao for Maui Fridays and bought some coasters for your tables from the Sherri Reeve gallery!"

  • Many nice surprises on this trip!

"Our family has stayed at Kamaole Sands several times but never in a second floor end unit like this one. We appreciated having everything on one level with the master bedroom totally separate from the living space. Many 2 bedroom condos in Maui have the master in a loft configuration that is perfect for hearing every sound in the unit! This may or may not be a problem but you should consider it before renting. The second bedroom is large and has a beautiful lanai big enough for two loungers and two chairs. Being an end unit this condo has extra windows that gave it a much nicer feel compared to some others that can seem like you're in a bit of a tunnel! One concern we had before seeing the condo was its location and how private it would be, we were pleasantly surprised by the plantings that gave privacy from the adjacent units and pool area. Its located close to the pool entrance and the designated parking spot which is great because, as much as we enjoy walking around Maui, we don't really want to hike from our car after a big shop at Costco! Its also very nice to be able to see our kids come and go to the pool, and when we needed to go retrieve them for dinner, it was close. For anyone who has not stayed at Kamaole Sands, I would say stay there if you like meeting lots of people and want lots of energy and activity. Its a very social place with lots of families which we enjoy. Its right across the road from some of the best beaches in Maui and a huge grassy park where you can set up your beach chairs every night to watch the sun set to the sound of people blowing Conch horns. I shouldn't be typing this right now as we just returned home today and I'm feeling a bit sad about leaving such a beautiful place. If you go to Maui once you may find yourself returning every year like my family does. It gets harder every year to say goodbye."

  • Comfortable home away fr home

"Really enjoyed our time in the condo. It was clean and comfortable, with plenty of room for 4 adults. Loved having the 2 full bathrooms, really helped since all of us were females lol The owner was very helpful in answering any questions we had while we were there. Loced the chocolate covered macadamia nuts and the fresh pineapple (amazing!) that were left for us by the owner. Very centrally located for seeing all parts of the island if you have a car, or within easy walking distance of grocery stores and restaurants if you don't."
