  • Escape in Paradise!

"My husband and I have traveled to China, Ecuador, Panama and Europe - and our #1 new favorite trip is Maui and the Makena Bay House. We prefer private home rental over resort stays and this accommodation met all of our expectations. The home is exactly as described and the location could not have been more convenient. Just steps from the beach and snorkeling (which we did everyday) and another short walk to another expansive beach for more traditional sunbathing. We brought our own snorkel gear - however, the gear supplied would have been sufficient. The home is well appointed with everything you need in the kitchen/bathrooms. Quite honestly - the only thing you need to bring with you is a swimsuit and a toothbrush! Will recommend to friends and family. Can't wait for our return trip. Aloha~ T. & M. /Michigan"

  • Beautiful Condo and Property

"Stayed 3 nights in this amazing condo in July. Very spacious and comfortable. Fully equipped kitchen with top of the line appliances, including a great outdoor BBQ grill. Corner unit with wraparound lanai is amazing for dining, watching sunsets and lounging. Loved the walk-out to grassy area above the beach. Two beaches accessible via short walk from back door. Was a little concerned about the condition of the bathrooms, since there were no pictures posted on site, but was pleasantly surprised - they were both very nice. Also, a few furniture upgrades not reflected in site pictures. Everything is top notch. Only complaint is air conditioning didn't work very well. Had difficulty getting it to bring temp under 76, so sleeping was uncomfortable."

  • Perfect place for a quiet week away

"Family of two, busy lifestyle - we needed a place to come to get away and rest relaxing, while ready to take care of ourselves as it comes to cooking, driving, etc. Cottage is just pefect for that and we will certainly keep coming back to the same place. The house is very well maintained and cozy, fully ready for living while bringing in just ourselves and something to wear. Location is great, unbelievable price for being 10 m away from the ocean (with turle visitors) every morning and evening. Sunset while eating dinner in a quiet , followed with then nice peaceful walk. Everything is close - Wailea (if you indulge in ice cream or shopiing), golf, tennis, lava beach down south, kayaking 100m away at Makena landing, Haleakala hikes just couple hours of driving away . Well, and working with Camille and Eric is an example of how the welcoming caring hosts should be. Booking our week for the next spring already.. Mahalo"

  • Fabulous location. OK unit.

"Let me start with the location. It's wonderful! Within the property, it's an easy walk from the parking lots (but secluded from street noise), steps to the pool, and a few steps further to the beach. Each morning, you have front row seats to kayakers and snorkelers checking out turtle town. Each night, the sun sets right there. The beach is great - not too crowded, good (super fine) sand, gentle waves, excellent snorkeling and boogie boarding. On the island, it's in a rather secluded location and one of the drier and less windy parts of the island. It's a good starting place for a morning jog (a mile to the beach path that goes another 3+ miles). The only down side is the drive to the super market (~15 minutes), but it's worth it to be away from the hustle and bustle. We had a great experience with the rental managers. When we had issues on Saturday morning and Saturday night, Maria was immediately accessible, professional, and resolved the problems quickly. It was also really nice to arrive to a gift basket full of Maui treats. We found the unit itself somewhat run down. It could benefit in both aesthetic and function from a renovation. At the very least, it needs a deep clean (clean carpets, wipe grime off cabinets and ceiling fans, wipe down baseboards, clean out tub jets). Bugs were a bit of a problem inside and out. For the price, we were expecting more of a luxury condo feel than a beach cottage feel, but it's definitely the latter. That said, the unit has a lot of perks. It's well sound proofed, and we almost never heard any neighbors. It came stocked with toilet paper, soap (bath, hand, laundry, dish), foil, zip lock bags, etc. The kitchen had a pretty good range of appliances and tools, including a blender. There are lots of towels and plenty of closet space for clothes or drying. The activity closet was stocked with a giant pool noodle, a fantastic beach umbrella, beach chairs, and it looked like balls and rackets. I'd definitely go back to Makena Surf. I'm on the fence about whether I'd go back to this particular unit."
