"Our family (4 generations from ages 2 - 86) spent a lovely 2 weeks at the estate. Our goal was to spend lots of time together, and Pahana was perfect. The suites allowed for privacy, but we spent most of our time enjoying the pool and hot tub together, and using the outdoor kitchen area. We didn't mind the tropical showers -- how else to have such lush vegetation? And when it rained, we drove to the beaches on the "dry" side of Maui. Views from the property are spectacular! Many thanks to Cher for a warm welcome and for accommodating our needs -- especially the late check out given our late evening flights home."

"My wife and I just returned from a week at StarWind Cottage. The property is wonderful. It is clean and bright and affords wonderful views of the surrounding vistas. Bev and Dave are gracious hosts and lovely people. We arrived late in the evening during a heavy tropical downpour and Bev was waiting for us at the cottage with a flash light to guide us into the driveway. Amazing service. We thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet and privacy provided by this lovely cottage. Pride of ownership is evident throughout the cottage and the surrounding grounds. The song birds that frequent the trees around the cottage were a special delight. Thanks Bev and Dave, for sharing your piece of Haiku heaven with us."

"My wife and I spent two weeks in the Leeward Condo and enjoyed our stay. Our daughter lives nearby so location was our main reason for staying at Haiku Makai. Max and Tracey treat us more like friends than customers. Max brought by fresh bananas and citrus fruit almost daily. Buttercup is the official welcome "person" for the property. We are dog people so it was nice to have her greet us and be there occasionally at our door.
This was our second stay in the Leeward Condo. We found it to be comfortable. Other posters have talked about the geckos and you should be prepared to see the little guys once in a while. They are harmless but they can startle you so awareness is paramount. This condo is what you should expect for an upcountry rental. The facilities are dated but functional. The appliances work and the coffee is hot. Our only recommend would be to add an inexpensive dinner service for four and a few more cups and glasses. I did not mention this to Max or Tracey so it may well be .... all I had to do was ask. I give them the benefit of the doubt because I see them as trying hard to please their customers... trying hard to make new friends!
This is a quiet and peaceful place on a back road near Haiku. It is not in the hustle and bustle of touristy Maui. It is your get-away from that scene. It allows you to relax and enjoy the ocean view. Mahalo and Aloha!"

"I have been to Maui several times in the past and convinced my partner and another couple to come. From the start, dealing with Sharyn was a pleasure! Huelo Point Lookout is more than we had expected. The photos do not do it justice! The directions may seem a bit daunting, but rest assured, as soon as you make the drive once, you are set! We were greeted with some Welcome treats at the house, and were quick to meet with Sharyn. We found ourselves not wanting to leave our little paradise for fear of the 'outside world'. Though, when we did, we discovered the Twin Falls, and several other little gems which were a short drive away. We did have a little Wasp issue, but that was quickly resloved by Sharyn who handled them like a pro! The ONLY downfall (if you could even call it that) of being on this side of the Island, is that the trade winds are quite strong, and can feel like you're going to be blown over on some days. When that happens, hop in the car, and take a trip to Lahaina!
From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to thank Sharyn for opening up her home to us Crazy Canadians ;)
We hope to see you again next year!!!"
