"Highlight of our entire Hawaii vacation! Cannot put into words how beautiful and perfect this place is. Fresh fruit at your doorstep, magical experience of shower by moonlight, amazing views. Walked from the doorstep 1.5 miles to Haleakala park 1st ones there. Exactly what a"vacation" should be. Anya thought of everything. I hope life finds us with the opportunity to visit again."

"Recently I attended a medical conference in Ka’anapali on the west coast of Maui. My travel companion and I decided to diversify our experience of the island by staying the rest of our days on the north coast, which is less developed and less touristed. In looking for accommodations, it was with great fortune that I came across Maui Ocean Breezes, located just outside the town of Haiku where we spent six magnificent days.
Not only is there plenty to explore close by, Haiku is located centrally enough that anything you may wish to do on the island is well within reach. The amenities at Maui Ocean Breezes fit us to a tee; we watched the sun rise from our patio, I swam under the stars in the saltwater pool and indulged in the peace and calm of the quaint little yoga hut. Our accommodations were not only comfortable, they were spotless; with a fully functional kitchen for cooking at home.
Ken and Anjali DeSure have been very thoughtful in their creation of this retreat for people who want a taste of a deeper and more authentic Maui. Along with their son, Alex, they are gracious and generous hosts in sharing their little chunk of paradise with their guests."

"The location of the house is great, with a view of the bay and the lullaby of waves against the rocks just below the living room. In general the place is in good shape, although some minor details need attention --something understandable given the continual corrosion of houses near the sea. The owners were very helpful and kind. Good choice if you seek a seaside experience."

"My wife, 5-year old daughter and I stayed at the Tropical retreat for 5 nights. We had a very enjoyable stay at the Tropical Retreat cottage. The cottage is very spacious, as other reviewers have noted and has a well-equipped kitchen including a dishwasher and fridge - I actually can't say enough about the fridge - it has a crushed ice setting which is perfect for making an extra cold glass of water, which is perfect for Hawaii's hot summer days. I think our daughter is now addicted to water it tastes so good! :)
The cottage is really well situated for Maui adventures. You are only 1 mile away from the start of the "Road to Hana", very close to Baldwin beach/baby beach, and also to forest walks and the Haleakala Crater.
Being in the upcountry, the area also feels more 'real'. We later stayed in West Maui, and visited South Maui, both of which feel like one big strip mall by comparison.
Everything went great during our stay and the only negative is that you don't have much of a view of the ocean (the volcano is behind you but is usually covered by clouds by the afternoon). That said, you do have a comfortable patio where you can lounge in privacy with a cold glass of wine so we didn't mind too much.
One caution: the closest 'big' grocery stores are about 20+ minutes away so stock up before you arrive!
I really recommend this place!"
