  • Wonderful, relaxing stay at the Romantic Cottage

"Upon our arrival, our first reaction was to the magnificent view looking out toward the valley and east Maui - just stunning. The cottage was clean and comfortable and well maintained, with a very well-stocked kitchen. We ate all of our breakfasts there during our stay. The owners provided anything we could want for our daily excursions, including beach towels, a beach umbrella, and beach chairs. Being close to Makawao had its advantages for dining purposes and for art gallery browsing. One of our favorite places for dinner was the Hali'imaile General Store. Excellent food and wonderful atmosphere. Nearby is the Waihou Spring Forest Reserve, where we enjoyed an easy hike through the woods. The Romantic Cottage enabled us to escape from the usual beach crowds and enjoy a wonderfully relaxing stay in a peaceful and beautiful setting. There is nothing like waking up to birds chirping, chickens clucking, and cows mooing. We would definitely stay here again."

  • Special and amazing

"I am so glad I found John and Maggie's wonderful little getaway! Tucked away in Haiku hides a beautiful detached house with everything you could possibly need. The mountain views from the house were beautiful and the property was perfect as well. There's a gate as soon as you come up to the property, which gives you a little peace of mind. The nights are cooler which was the best possible scenario we could have asked for with our long days adventuring at the hot beach. Haiku is such a lovely little town too, the taco stand was killer and the grocery store is great for picking up odds and ends. So so glad we decided to stay in the North instead of anywhere else on the island. The vibe is much more relaxed. Paia is such a short drive away, great restaurants etc. We will be returning to Maui and we will definitely stay with John and Maggie again. 5 stars! And Trouble the cat is too sweet!"

  • Serenity

"What a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the view. This cottage was exactly what we wanted and enjoyed our stay immensely. The cottage was exceptionally clean. It is definitely off the beaten path as they say but that is what we look for on our vacations. The nearest town is almost 8 miles away but the winding road makes it take about 30 minutes to get there but the scenery is beautiful. The internet was not working when we arrived and they were unable to repair while we were there but the manager graciously gave us a discount on our stay for our inconvenience which was greatly appreciated. I might add that we had no issues with the solar aspect of the cottage or the water conservation as other reviews have stated. There is no cell phone service but there is a land line for phone calls should you need to call back to the mainland. Both Debby and Karen were great to work with and since my husband has business in Hawaii we will most likely be back to this place. If you are looking to get away from it all and just sit back and enjoy the view this is it."

  • Perfect

"Highlight of our entire Hawaii vacation! Cannot put into words how beautiful and perfect this place is. Fresh fruit at your doorstep, magical experience of shower by moonlight, amazing views. Walked from the doorstep 1.5 miles to Haleakala park 1st ones there. Exactly what a"vacation" should be. Anya thought of everything. I hope life finds us with the opportunity to visit again."
