  • Charming place

"We had a great time here. Loved the location, and the house is such a charming place. We loved watching the turtles in the water, and even spotted a few whales off in the distance. And the views from the upstairs bedrooms can't be beat. Highly recommend for anyone looking to stay in Paia."

"We had a wonderful time staying at Koali Ranch Cottage! The views are amazing! We loved watching the constantly changing ocean! The breeze blowing through the cottage kept us cool & comfortable. I would definitely recommend this for a couple looking for romance or someone who wants a peaceful retreat! Truly an awesome place!"

  • Definitely coming back

"After 3 days at a resort in Wailea, we spent 4 utterly relaxing days at Ekena (Jasmine) and in Hana, enjoying Koki beach in the morning and cooking island style dinners in the afternoons from a copy of "What Maui Likes to Eat" that we picked up in Wailea. The kitchen has pretty much everything you need equipment-wise - graters, garlic presses, etc. The views from the deck were gorgeous - you could spend all day there just sipping wine and enjoying the ocean breeze, the rainbows, and, if you get up at night, the stars, which were pretty amazing. Hana town, what there is of it, is about 5-10 minutes away, and it's easy to pop over to Travaasa for a drink if you want, or go island style at Koki's huli-huli chicken, A's Thai food, or any of several other small roadside joints. Robin was helpful and inconspicuous. You can get basics and beer/wine locally, but its a vacation home, not a hotel or B&B, so bring your own food and spices from the Safeway and Ah Fooks Asian grocery near the airport in Kahului. Very good beach chairs and boogie boards come with the place, as does a washer/dryer, so you really don't need to bring much else. Next time we'll bag the resorts, which could be anywhere, and just come back here. (PS. The "I'd recommend this property for" list doesn't have the right category. I'd recommend this property for experienced travelers who enjoy a laid back, relaxing escape.)"

  • Wonderful cottage near a natural pool

"Papalani was a wonderful cottage in Hana for my wife, two daughters (7.75 and 5) and I to stay in for two nights. The location was excellent and the accommodations were clean and comfortable. The natural pool a short walk away was incredible and easily the highlight of our trip to Hana. Sybil is a wonderful host and attended to our every need. We were not prepared for the downpours that are common in Hana, and she lent us umbrellas so we could get around without getting too wet. If it happens to be raining in Hana, don’t fret — you can drive further down the Hana Highway to Wailua Falls (mile marker 45) and Kipahulu, Haleakala National Park (mile marker 42). Even though it was pouring rain in Hana, it was dry just three miles down the road. We will definitely stay at Papalani the next time we return to Hana. We can’t wait to visit the natural pool again and explore even more of the area next time. Mahalo!!"

Huelo Travel Tips

Huelo Beach Rentals: An Escape from Hawaii's Tourist Crowds

To experience Hawaii at its best, it is possible to get away from the crowds and have a relaxing vacation. Stay at Huelo beach rentals and you won't be dealing with crowded resorts, since the community of Huelo is bounded by the ocean and small farms and organic gardens. At Maui vacation rentals such as this, activities such as horseback riding, swimming, snorkeling, and even hiking are abundant. Twin Falls, a 127 foot high waterfall, accents the beauty of Maui's natural surroundings, as does the Waikamao Nature Trail.

Forget the Stress and Take in Nature at Its Purest

Huelo condos also give you and your companions space to enjoy their personal freedom. It is not like going back to a hotel room where everyone is on top of one another. Leave the stress behind and enjoy the peace of mind of a spacious, low-budget accommodation. Step outside and the mountains, ocean views, waterfalls, and lava cliffs will carry your mind away from the hectic life at home. Experience summer at the beach, and then travel 10,000 feet up Haleakala volcano where it can be downright chilly at the same time.

Nothing Like Geology and then a Home-Cooked Meal

Other interesting geologic features can be found at Iao Valley State Park, where there is a 2,250 foot stone pillar and lush plant life, providing for spectacular views. Travel the Road to Hana and see more picturesque landscapes at the Keanae Peninsula. The Hana Highway itself is a challenge, offering a path 52 miles long in three hours time. You'll surely want to lay back at the Huelo beach rentals afterward, even staying in for a home-cooked meal in the kitchen. At Huelo condos, you can choose to do anything you would normally do at home, if you don't already feel you're there.
