  • Beautiful home with a spectacular view!

"We had a wonderful stay in Makawao! This home is beautiful. It is laid out very well and takes full advantage of the spectacular views! Mark, the owner, is extremely friendly and very responsive. We couldn’t have asked for more. The kitchen comes stocked with everything you need to cook a good meal. The full size W/D and laundry room is also very nice to have. We really appreciated all the additional amenities: beach chairs, snorkel gear, hundreds of DVDs, Apple computer, and more. Also, the furniture is extremely comfortable making the house a great place to hangout. The house is close enough to easily walk to Makawao which is a very friendly town that offers several great dinning / shopping options. Overall, this is a beautiful, well equipped house with a very responsive owner. We stayed here for one month and couldn’t have been happier!"

  • Amazing place, we want to move here.

"This was by far the best place we stayed at during our recent trip to Hawaii. That included three hotels in Waikiki, and two places on the Big Island. If I have ever dreamed about a place to go to relax, retire permanently , or even a little slice of heaven this is it. We knew it would be good when we drove in after following very well written directions and found our names written on a chalkboard at the front door. From there the discovery of this well-thought out cottage kept us saying "Oh wow!" There's a nice jacuzzi tub when you enter, on a enclosed patio with a reading area and a breakfast table. The living space includes a very comfortable bed and amazing sofa table in the TV area. The kitchen is well equipped, and has a few nibbles to keep you from starving. The best part of all is the bathroom, with a shower room that is covered is green tiles - with live orchids and a skylight. We couldn't say enough positive things about our experience here, would never stay anywhere else in Maui (perhaps except Hana because the trip to get there is so taxing) after staying here. We're afraid to write too good a review because others may book our spot the next time we want to go. If you are interested in this property then look no further, you won't find anything better."

  • Great location

"Great central location. We were there for wedding but still wanted to sight see and the location was central to everything, but without crowds. Property was very clean and well maintained inside."

  • Can You Say AMAZZZIIIIIINNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGG?

"We stayed in the Octagon Studio. This place was everything you can ever imagine. I felt honored about how great of a choice we made, especially after speaking to people on the island who stayed in the "regular" hotels/resorts. Initially upon arriving, we kept hearing "Makawao? You are staying where? You have a hotel in Makawao? Apparently because this side of town is considered "Upcountry" and its on a totally different side than the "Hotel Zone." Let me give you a rundown of our experience. Just as I mentioned, this here place is on a different side of town so I would just be very cognizant of the activities you plan and their location. A prime example is activities in Lahaina. This is in Maui but it is literally an hour away. We only went there twice for the mall (to walk the strip) which you only need to do once, and for a cruise. I would make that trip on that side of town five more times and still wouldn't change my mind about where we stayed. There are also tons of places in the area which are close as well. There is a long winding road before you get to the Aromatherapy Foundation that took 7 minutes to drive up alone. Once you get there you feel like you are in your own little town. The studio itself was on a property with two other buildings but it surely didn't feel like it. We felt as if we were completely alone. A beautiful ambiance. Not to mention the continuous aromatic smells. We were also so high up that we could see two sides of the island as we stood outside of our studio. Something that obviously can’t be changed would probably be preferred is a ramp. We had a bit of a hard time getting our bags up and down those stairs. I could also imaging how tough it would be for someone who is in a wheel chair. Though we were able to manage all the steps. Just a thought, not a downfall. I had a great concern before coming about the size of the studio. Super concerned that it would be too small. . . . I was wrong. It was perfect. Everything was so clean. The shower gave you that perfect feeling. Even though you were inside, you could keep the curtain open and see the trees, the flowers and watch the sunrise. The bed must have been made out of cotton, because it was softer than soft. The mini porch balcony overlooking the garden was definitely used. It was so calm and peaceful. The only thing I would recommend is a microwave. I must be programmed with this new generation, but I sure would have enjoyed being able to warm up my food from "Da Kitchen.""
