"We had a great stay in the lovely surf shack! The owners are very accommodating, friendly hosts. The location of the shack is excellent, just beyond Paia (10 miles from the main airport), right on the road to Hana (one of the highlights of our trip). This shack is the place for you if you want to stay away from touristy resort areas. Just a quick drive to kitebeach or ho'okipa if you're in for some serious water sports. Afterwards, rinse off in the outdoor shower and you're good to go to one of the excellent restaurants nearby (need car though, except for mama's fish house, which you can walk to - expensive though). Great organic supermarket in Paia, well stocked deli right around the corner of the shack. The studio itself is nicely decorated and has all the amenities you need. In fact, I think that calling it a shack is downplaying this property. Nice backyard, featuring fresh avocados.
For those with kids: you might be able to fit in one camper crib/small air mattress if you were to bring one child (I would say no room for more).
We would definitely consider this rental again if we were ever so lucky as to be able to return to Maui!"

"Traveling on our honeymoon for 12 hours from Buffalo, NY and arriving late in the rain at 10pm we were exhausted and pulled into the driveway at the beautiful home of Ray and Vivienne and were warmly greeted by the man, the myth - Ray Masters. It was like seeing an old friend that we had never met before. He and his wife Vivienne were amazing to say the least. Gracious, kind, funny and full of life can be used to describe these wonderful people. They provided us with great information so we could enjoy the best of what Maui has to offer including places to dine, hikes, waterfalls, beaches, etc. We stayed in a suite right off the house which more then met our needs, the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was beautifully chic and the kitchenette was more then adequate for the week. The private deck overlooks a beautiful backyard and plush furniture allows you to sink in with a favorite book and a glass of wine. The beach is like a private oasis that has turquoise water and white sands with an occasional sea turtle popping its head out to take in the view. It's very rare to see anyone but you and yours except when Ray and his faithful dog Sevin hit the water. My husband loved windsurfing here and the advice from Ray was spot on about the winds and reefs. We were sad when our week was up as we were headed to another house on the island and expressed to our hosts that we had wished we had booked our full two weeks with them, fortunately for us we were asked to return the next day to celebrate Ray's birthday with them and their close friends. We had a blast! What great people, great food, great drinks, great life these people have, and we are blessed to know them. The Aloha spirit is alive and well, book with them and you will not only have an unforgettable vacation but an experience you will not soon forget! We will definitely be returning, much mahalo for sharing your paradise with us!!"

"My friends and I have stayed at Mangolani three years in a row, and each year is better than the last. The owner has put a lot of thought and care to creating a beautiful property that is very comfortable, clean, and well maintained. The property manager is really on top of it, too -- he's super responsive and easy to work with. You can't beat the convenient location that still allows you to escape the noise and business closer to town, and the property really allows you to relax and chill between site-seeing excursions and going to the beach. I would definitely recommend this place to others, and we can't wait to come back!"
