"We stayed for 2 nights in Hana to avoid the day-trip crush, and we are so thankful that we found Andrew and Robin's house. Our 6 and 8 year old loved the geckos and all of the fruit trees -- especially the "chocolate" trees that are in early growth.
The house had everything we needed and it provided the perfect base to cover the last 15 miles of the R2H. Staying for a couple of nights provides so much flexibility - we did not feel rushed to finish one stop in order to get to the next, and it provided us the freedom to spend alot more time in the places that we wanted to focus on.
Andrew was very helpful in addressing our questions ahead of time, and he especially came in handy as a weather spotter when we were concerned that a Tropical Storm would disrupt our plans (thankfully it didn't).
We *will* be back (hopefully sooner rather than later)!
FYI - if you are here on a Friday or Saturday night, we highly recommend the clay-oven pizzas from the fruit stand just past the house - "boxed" up in a banana leaf as a to-go container - a perfect use of Hana supplies!"

A little piece of heaven--absolutely wonderful place to stay!
"My friends and I were on a girls' getaway and spent 4 nights in the Jasmine suite. The house is very clean and well-stocked with kitchen items. We enjoyed using the provided beach chairs, boogie boards, and beach towels. The washer & dryer was nice to have too, and laundry soap was provided.
The views from Ekena are amazing. It was tempting to sit on the porch all day long! However, we decided to enjoy exploring Hana: Oheo Gulch (take the 4 mile hike along the Pipiwai Trail!), Red Sand Beach, Black Sand Beach, Koki Beach, Hana Farms stand (banana bread is the best around--we recommend the pineapple banana bread!), Coconut Glen's (great ice-cream, strange service), Troy's plate lunch (near Koki Beach), etc. So much to see, do, and eat! :) If you want fresh chicken or fish, be sure to get it on your way to Hana. The local markets in Hana only had fresh beef. We were able to purchase fish from a local fisherman during our stay and it was delicious.
Back to Ekena, Jasmine suite: There are two rooms: one had a king bed, and one had 2 twin beds (that can be made into a king if you desire). All the beds were comfortable. There's no a/c, but there are fans all around the house & plenty of windows and slider doors to keep things at a comfortable temperature. The Wi-Fi worked really well, but there's no cell phone reception. We didn't mind a bit! If you do stay at Ekena, be sure to wake up to watch the sunrise at least once while you're there. It's beautiful.
The location is great: about 2 minute drive to the town of Hana and about a 35-40 minute drive to Oheo Gulch. So nice to be able to get to the gulch earlier than all the day-trippers!
We loved our stay at Ekena and highly recommend it. Robin was incredibly helpful with our questions and so pleasant to talk to. It was a pleasure meeting her and Gaylord. Mahalo for everything! :)

"This home was perfect for my husband and I for our anniversary getaway. Very quiet and private, and steps from the beautiful beach! It's in a great location, very close to everything in Hana (a very short drive to everything). The rental is on the bottom floor of the home, and has a fully stocked kitchen with everything you'll need. The only thing missing was an oven, but there was a toaster oven to make up for that. We especially appreciated that we could hear the ocean waves crashing from inside the house. So peaceful and relaxing. We definitely recommend this rental to anyone staying in Hana!"
