"Our family (4 generations from ages 2 - 86) spent a lovely 2 weeks at the estate. Our goal was to spend lots of time together, and Pahana was perfect. The suites allowed for privacy, but we spent most of our time enjoying the pool and hot tub together, and using the outdoor kitchen area. We didn't mind the tropical showers -- how else to have such lush vegetation? And when it rained, we drove to the beaches on the "dry" side of Maui. Views from the property are spectacular! Many thanks to Cher for a warm welcome and for accommodating our needs -- especially the late check out given our late evening flights home."

"We were able to stay here for 3 nights on our vacation and could not have been happier. This was the most wonderful, peaceful and perfect place I have ever stayed. Thank you Robin for your hospitality and we hope to be back someday!"

"We spent 3 nights in this wonderful cottage after spending a week in Kaanapali. These were two completely different experiences, and we are so grateful we decided to spend some time in Hana. We loved the resorts and tourist attractions in Kaanapali and equally loved the lack of tourism, pure nature and beauty of Hana. We had not realized that the cottage would not have AC prior to arrival, but it was not a problem at all. I agree with another reviewer that one should take advantage and open the windows, get the fans going and enjoy! The temperatures at night were quite comfortable. My teenage boys declared Koki Beach in Hana to be their favorite beach ever due to the lovely sand, limited people and wonderful waves for body surfing (and we have done a fair amount of traveling to beaches in the US and overseas). We loved the roadside BBQ stand near Koki Beach and sampled wonderful banana bread across Hana. If you are looking for a couples of family visit where you can enjoy the beauty of Hawaii and also focus on family, Hana is a fantastic place offering just enough to do but not too much in an absolutely gorgeous setting. We appreciated the cottage owner loaning us beach towels, snorkel gear and gifting us some delicious bananas from his incredible yard. The kitchen was well-equipped, and it was nice to have a washer/dryer as well. The porch was our favorite part of the cottage - excellent for coffee in the morning and wine in the evening. (Don't forget to star gaze!)"

A little piece of heaven--absolutely wonderful place to stay!
"My friends and I were on a girls' getaway and spent 4 nights in the Jasmine suite. The house is very clean and well-stocked with kitchen items. We enjoyed using the provided beach chairs, boogie boards, and beach towels. The washer & dryer was nice to have too, and laundry soap was provided.
The views from Ekena are amazing. It was tempting to sit on the porch all day long! However, we decided to enjoy exploring Hana: Oheo Gulch (take the 4 mile hike along the Pipiwai Trail!), Red Sand Beach, Black Sand Beach, Koki Beach, Hana Farms stand (banana bread is the best around--we recommend the pineapple banana bread!), Coconut Glen's (great ice-cream, strange service), Troy's plate lunch (near Koki Beach), etc. So much to see, do, and eat! :) If you want fresh chicken or fish, be sure to get it on your way to Hana. The local markets in Hana only had fresh beef. We were able to purchase fish from a local fisherman during our stay and it was delicious.
Back to Ekena, Jasmine suite: There are two rooms: one had a king bed, and one had 2 twin beds (that can be made into a king if you desire). All the beds were comfortable. There's no a/c, but there are fans all around the house & plenty of windows and slider doors to keep things at a comfortable temperature. The Wi-Fi worked really well, but there's no cell phone reception. We didn't mind a bit! If you do stay at Ekena, be sure to wake up to watch the sunrise at least once while you're there. It's beautiful.
The location is great: about 2 minute drive to the town of Hana and about a 35-40 minute drive to Oheo Gulch. So nice to be able to get to the gulch earlier than all the day-trippers!
We loved our stay at Ekena and highly recommend it. Robin was incredibly helpful with our questions and so pleasant to talk to. It was a pleasure meeting her and Gaylord. Mahalo for everything! :)
