"i live on maui and we have booked various "tutu houses" for a surf contest each year. I see the comments and sorry but yes cockroaches are an issue ANYWHERE on the island. I manage a 5 star condo in Kapalua and we have those same large bugs, sorry but welcome to the tropics!! tutu could invest in some better pans i thought but generally we are there two nights and who cares!! if you wanna sit in a house and expect the best, rent the Hana Hotel, we appreciate the houses and wouldn't really expect much more, its Hana for Gods sake!!!"

  • Upcountry seclusion

"Our family of 5 (two adults and children 12,12,14) enjoyed the rustic seclusion and the accommodations of the cottage. It had all amenities we needed including washer and dryer (no charge). Local grocery is nearby and plenty of local eating establishments can be explored. No pool or AC but the breeze thru open windows made it comfortable and beaches are a short drive away. In fact, everything we wanted to do in the up country was within a short drive. The owner's son Mark (and family) stopped by and provided a background of the Cannery history and local places to see. There are several fruit trees on the property which we enjoyed. No TV? However, free Wifi was available so the kids and parents still stayed connected. One bathroom was a bit of a challenge but we worked thru it! Lots of space on the grounds to let the kids explore and expend energy. The cottage is a very good value if you desire a quiet retreat after a long day of sightseeing."

  • Sweet Retreat

"My husband and I absolutely adored the charming Hana Ulu Lulu. It was clean, super comfortable, well equipped and beautifully decorated. Our only regret is that we could not stay longer than 2 nights. Chris and Leokane were unobtrusive but offered to help in any way they could, we didn't need anything but the peace of this gorgeous place. We especially loved arriving to welcoming Hawaiian music, fresh fruit and beautiful flowers strewn thought the cottage! Mahalo!"

  • Homey

"My daughter, 3 teenagers & I stayed for 7 days here. It was not hard to find with a GPS.the road to the property is very windy with many turns & speed bumps. Property is attractive with a lived in look. The boys used the pool once during the evening. There are goats, cows, and chickens in the pasture next door. They moo, baaa, and crow quite a bit. Did not bother us, we just did the same right back at them! Lol! We did have a mouse in the house with us and killed several large roaches, but we heard bugs is a big problem on the island. Roaches are everywhere, no problem. House was stocked pretty good with everything needed to cook but would add a 2qt pan. We explored the whole island, enjoyed the beaches over at wailea, pain, and lahainia. Went to makawao to Komados bakery....yum! Did the trip to Hana on tour bus. Went snorkeling to molokini and swam with sea turtles. Food land in pukalani is very expensive. Kahului has a walmart (not super store) and a costco. Would rent this house again!"
